Are the car decal, the rod and the reel the only exclusive things you can get at the carnival?

A little bump, this thread is a little dead. How come the Day 1 DLCs are available on the store?
Will they be there forever or is it a limited time only thing?

The game sure likes to make sure you know about the new camera mode. They could have given us an album expansion to go with it, though, having to delete stuff constantly is a pain

Doing a good time on the chocobo races gives you a couple key items. Do the shooting gallery and cactuar minigames give you something too?

Looks like it's limited to the fishing gear you can get from fishing, cosmetics (the costumes and car decal) and the stuff you can get at the prize counter. Oh, and the recipes from the SE café

There's no need to level up for the carnival at all, it doesn't involve combat in any form
No need to get to Altissia in the story either, since you get to the carnival via an option ("Special") in the Main Menu. I think the only thing you need for the carnival is to have a saved game

What lure did you use for the fish? I can't find the rod or reel ones.

The Tonberry one you get from the first fishing quest in the main game. I've been using it the whole time, actually

The big ones don't always have tags on em' so just keep trying. The Carbuncle lure is in real Altissia from a vendor near the hotel.

I caught it at night, but I don't think it matters.

I wish they would expand a little on the NG+, like letting you choose what you want to carry over. Being level 70 and doing NG+ is kind of pointless

With having started the game, you're pretty much ready. The carnival is accessed from the main menu, there should be a "special" option under "load game"

Finally caught rod fish. The rod is terrible. At least it's a unique item. I had some good luck with the bloody eye lure.

Found a Square Enix cafe with two new dishes that enhance your fishing line durability or chocobo's stamina, and you get recipes to make them in the main game.

Noct even says "I've come up with a new recipe" in a mock Ignis voice.
