I just want all of you to prove you have been playing video games longer than a couple years.
Please. Restore a little of my faith in this website and help me feel like I'm still able to relate to some of you.
I just want all of you to prove you have been playing video games longer than a couple years
My top 3 favorite video games of all time are Bioshock Infinite, Space Channel 5 Part 2 and Forbidden Siren.
...
Burning Rangers HD remake when?
...
I'm 27 and I've been playing vidya since I was 3 years old.
I regret not doing something more productive every day but I do nothing to change that
ITT: all of them newfags
it's something they should reboot but it ain't gonna happen
cool game though
I got all A's and chaos Chao in 6th grade
Jesus christ
when i was a kid and zork grand inquisitor came out i got so excited that i went back and played all the text adventures. all of them.
The cake is a lie ;)
Nuff said, right? Haha
>implying
My first game was Bart VS the World on Amiga.
Ape Escape was the best game on the PS1. What it lacked in difficulty it made up for in atmosphere, music and gameplay.
I really need to play it again with the advances in PS1 emulation.
What game? Also I've played Turok 2 does that count? N64 was my first console.
Watched Pewdiepie before he became big, not many here can say that. Most of you faggots latched to him when he hit the millions.
>implying anyone here has "latched onto" him
>implying watching him at all doesn't make you a fag
what game
What's the problem? That game out more than a decade ago.
Burning Rangers. It was a Saturn game.
this shit defined a large part of my childhood
getting an all-S immortal chao consumed many months worth of late nights on a shitty little portable screen on the cube version
To this day, the phrase "Don't pursue Lu Bu" triggers my PTSD. I first heard that unheeded warning in 2003.
I played that shit ski game with the monster that chaces you on some old shitty computer, also im a ps1 vet, ps2 gamecube xbox xbox360 pc xbox one gamer
Phantasy Star IV remains one of my all time favourites, and if pressed for a definitive favourite I always go with it
The NES and Genesis I had as a child are currently hooked up to an older model Sony Trinitron so me and my wife and kids can enjoy the classics. I've also got a Saturn, Dreamcast, SNES, N64, Ps1, and Ps2 down there as well.
>i watched him when he was a kids entertainer
>all of you watching him when his content swapped from 8 year olds virtual best friend to social commentary are posers lmao
Good on you
I played most of those except soo and the gbc version. Fun times. My first game was The Lion King for Sega.
i was born in 1985 and literally don't remember a time before there was an nes in my house with mario/duck hunt combo cart and loz gold cart
say no more senpai. Never got to beat it though because I traded my 64 for a dreamcast and non of the roms I found work
I didn't know how stats worked so my chaos chao have bad to mediocre stats
I only won those races with rng
I was 14 when youtube came out. I remember being mindblown when I found out you could embed videos online. You used to need to download 144p trailers from 2001 IGN and watch them locally.
Have you naturally gotten better at games as time has gone on?
Game was fun, try project64 with rice video plugin. I heard the sky was hard as fk to emulate properly so all kinds of issues existed. The platforming sucked tho.
Nah, I couldn't even beat any of the Souls games but I've beaten others in hard mode. I don't know how good I am.
My first video game was Mario AllStars + World when I got a Super Nintendo for christmas in 1995.
Starting my gaming life with 5 great Mario games on one cart was great.
That said, I still havent finished even one of them, but I did beat Yoshis Island even though I never owned it and the main 3 genesis Sanic games despite being a Nintendo kid. Sonic 3 & Knux is a masterpiece.
First game I played was Dark Sun: Shattered Lands about 1998/9 at the age of 5/6. Well past release date but poorfags made do with being behind the curve then. I'd roll stats at party creation then immediately pump it up to maximum after result because I didn't didn't realise that was tantamount to cheating.in D&D crpgs then
Somehow made it near the final boss too but got fucking obliterated by vrocks or the more hardcore variants. Looking on the game in hindsight it was probably more to do with lack of allies than anything because I'm sure gaining them was the goal of most of the game
>a couple years
Nigga this means fucking nothing.
Reminder that Notch used to post here 8 years ago and we gave him advice and heckled him for his infiniminer clone.
Reminder that InfDev version of minecraft is 7 years old, and this screenshot is 5 years old.
>Nah, I couldn't even beat any of the Souls games but I've beaten others in hard mode
Interesting.
Hard mode usually your first playthrough?
Burning Rangers is a bit jank but the opening theme and that song they used in Sanic Kart are fucking great.
I always used Burning Rangers discs in PSO all the time, especially on final form Dark Falz.
Depends on the game but if it was available from the start I would dive in hard right away.
I guess so. I mostly play SP though
>be 6 year old
>parents live divorced
>see dad every other weekend
>he buys a SNES
>tfw playing video games for the very first time in my life
>was only allowed to play for an hour per day so that's 3 hours in 2 weeks
Simpler times
Seems like a solid choice. I first started Metal Gear Rising on hard at the heckling of Sup Forums and don't regret it one bit. Feels good to overcome shit you know you can, you just haven't gotten the hang of it yet.
I'm 22 and I'm playing games since 3-4 years old.
I'm not one to quote multiple posts, but I enjoyed and agree with these
not him, but the other oldfag here
i somehow managed to beat loz in the days before internet as we know it existed, through 2nd hand knowledge and bruteforced bush burning
i still enjoy hard games but my attention span and patience have waned in the last decade or so
JUST DO IT
JUST BURNING RANGERS
Shitty draw distance but fuck, there was nothing like it. It got a ton of love in PSO though.
Not really sure how I'd prove, anonymously, over the internet, that I've been playing games for about 23 years, and started when I was around 3.
For now you all sound similar, in my mind.
In the case of picking hard mode right away, did you find that you'd get your ass kicked by a certain boss fight or enemy occasionally, but otherwise it was usually smooth sailing?
pretty generalized question but i guess so
I bought intellivision games new in the mid 80s at kaybee toy stores. I was in elementary school.
>slime girls
Indeed.
Did you overcome it by brute force with the same strategy until it worked? Did something suddenly click and you won without a scratch?
Go play some videogames user, you're being weird
and?
you can't really bruteforce games these days. there's always a pattern to learn or a technique to utilize. if i get stomped 10 times in a row by a boss i start trying new things
I'm playing video games in between the responses, don't worry. I'm wish to broaden my UNDERSTANDING
>if i get stomped 10 times in a row by a boss i start trying new things
Right, so you're bravely charging in at first until you realize for whatever reason, the boss has your number. You're clever and willing to adapt in these cases, right?
its all sjws tumblrinas redditors and shitlords nigga
most people here are from highschool at this point
i come here to see how stupid they are, but not much else
im 26, started shit on an nes and snes at my grandparents.
i played all sorts of shit growing up like donkey country 1/2/3, megaman and x, bomberman 64, megaman legends, westwood c&c (mainly tiberium sun and yuri's revenge), starcraft, diablo 1&2, chrono trigger, dragon quest 8/7/5, elderscrolls morrowind, kotor 1&2, republic commando, and now my list is getting too long.
dkc2, bomberman 64, and mml are my top memorable games to me.
today i feel like a lot of games are hollow experiences with less soul and more product, making things feel like pure business now than before.
the shitters today really think they are getting better than what we had before 2004, when they are probably getting more flash and less substance than ever.
...
...
sure
what are you getting at
>reaffirm my belief that this is a safespace populated only by people I deem worthy based on subjective criteria I put in place
How about no? The world is full of people who disagree with you and like completely different things than you. It's also full of people younger than you. This place isn't any different, and if you want a hugbox where everyone thinks exactly like you then you can fuck off.
It's an accurate representation
>Dynasty Warriors 3
>spend fifteen minutes mercilessly wailing on Lu Bu
>he hits me twice and "DEFEAT"
>rinse and repeat a half-dozen times
>realize you can finish misson just by running past him to escape route
>spend a week maxing out stats
>feel confident that this time I can beat him
>he gets me in six-hit combo and "DEFEAT"
>tfw
>tfw
>tfw
Soulsfags don't know true anguish.
The Saturn is a severely underrated system and doesn't get the love it deserves. Burning Rangers is not that great, though.
>buzzwords
shouldn't you be watching some skyrim streams right now?
>no clockwork knight
an excellent collection otherwise
If you are the Dark Souls user, the problem is that you are not cautious enough, and it's only AFTER you're getting your shit fucked up that you're adapting.
It's mostly because it's a video game, so there really isn't much threat of danger, but even in modern society people can get sloppy when it comes to danger, because of advances in personal protection and medical care. It's pretty easy to survive some grievous wounds and try again, so to speak.
When animals in the wild fight each other, they have to size each other up first and determine whether it's worth each, because even a single injury could contribute to their death.
Even a ceramic plate blocking a bullet will fracture ribs, and if you're alone in the boonies that can kill you, yeah?
I know I'm being a bit long winded in this case, but it seems like you're becoming complacent. If you can, try playing action games on a lower difficulty so the enemies are easier to kill, but focus on protecting yourself first, then killing the enemies when you notice a weak point.
Treat every mook as a lethal threat and react accordingly. You'll be able to pull off some pretty flashy gameplay, trust me. You'll probably have an easier time in Dark Souls too. You say you can adapt, so why not just do it a bit earlier.
Do you understand what I'm saying?
play instant kill modes like revengeance and DmD if you can't limit yourself like this
my all time favorite game is Vampire the Masquerade:Bloodlines
Depends on what do you mean on relate. I started on C16. I was never really good in games but I played a lot. I never played on all of the systems, hell I didn't even have a PS2 but I played a lot.
The things I learnt during the years is that games doesn't matter that much. Your experience depends heavily on how and when you play a game. If you play long enough You will find 5/10s you like and 10/10s you hate. When you play long enough you realize there are no friendly companies and developers, there are companies and developers who make money. Some developer makes a dumb shit and people will eat it up because it was in the right time, some developer puts his soul in the final product and people will shit on it.
Play what you like on the platform you like.
I was fucking pissed when they removed radiators from Armored Core.
not him but thanks for the autistic attempt at picking my brain after saying yes to a couple broad questions
you're well on your way to becoming a tv mentalist and stealing money from lonely middle aged women
If you're not him, then I don't think it really applies to you, sorry user.
What's your problem?
...
good saturn emu when
what's that cassette?
I've seen too many people die to preventable things.
I'd like to start with how people act in video games, for one.
I've found that lots of times, "shitty pug" teams only need a little bit more context on what's the most dangerous threat at a given moment to perform very well, and I'm actually interested in seeing how much this applies to people who feel like they're underperforming.
My first game was an Uncle Scrooge game on the original game boy. I had no idea how to play it. I just kept jumping and going back and forth in every level.
I also remember getting a Playstation with FF8 a few years later and had no idea you could save. So I kept replaying the beginning for months until my uncle showed me.
It was a whole new game to me
Do you play fighting games? You're describing basic fundamentals. It's hardly complicated or secret info. Stop being so preachy, you're just an anonymous poster on a mongolian fingerpainting forum.
I remember that uncle scrooge game.
You could to a downward jump with his cane. It was hard as fuck.
>comic sans
No wonder Sonic got autistic
>Do you play fighting games? You're describing basic fundamentals
Indeed.
Do you think Dark Souls user plays fighting games?
The only thing I remember about this game is there were characters at the end of some levels you had to free. Could kever finish it because I had no idea how to free them.
I also had the Wario game on the same game boy. The one with helmets that gave you different powers.
>did you find that you'd get your ass kicked by a certain boss fight or enemy occasionally, but otherwise it was usually smooth sailing?
There's always one asshole like that. Depending on the game bosses became a quick wall where you learn the mechanics of the game precisely or you don't progress, usually in turn makes the previous difficult enemies less challenging since I learned new ways to kick their ass afterwards.
Except JRPGs, or any RPG for that matter. Hard mode just means HP sponge, there's nothing fun or rewarding about that.
Who do you main and which games do you play? You specifically sound like a SF4 player.
You're my absolute nigga.
The crocodile helm was a flamethrower and there was one with wings that made you fly or so, right?
Mario Land 3 isn't obscure, it's even on the eshop.
I don't play any fighting games right now.
In the past I used to get pretty mad so I figured I'd be better off shelving it.
Lately I've been playing the Division specifically to note the differences between the AI of looters who don't want to fight, and the hardened soldiers, but maybe I should get back in to fighting games.
Can you recommend GG? My buddy's been bugging me about playing it with him.
its impossible
i could post pics of what i have, stories and such and it could all be lies, OP.
i know i lived in the better years
take that solace, knowing that we once were in good company
>isn't obscure
Where did I say that?
>Mario Land
We're talking about Wario
Epic fail.
Yeah that's the one, this game was good as fuck.
I think it was the first game I ever finished. This one or Pokemon Red I got shortly after that.
Wario Land 1 was called Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3. They're the same game, kid.
>Mario Land
>We're talking about Wario
>
>Epic fail.
time to kill yourself user
>Hard mode just means HP sponge, there's nothing fun or rewarding about that.
Yeah.
I wish more games did difficulty like Crysis.
>tfw I had a crush on that genie princess at the end
i played games that predate the NES
i'm in my mid 30's and between my brother an i we have retained almost all of our childhood consoles and games.
Cool
And now prove where I was saying it was obscure, kid.
One of the first games I remember playing was Star Wars: Dark Forces on some Macintosh computer, might've been an LC II or something, who remembers.
There was a level with sewer monsters or something that scared me. It was probably like the second level, maybe even the first. Honestly I don't remember that much, I should go back and play that again sometime.
