Just a pro tip for your next purchase- DLC, in general, for virtually every game, IS JUST cut content that they release at a later date and charge you 1/4 the cost of the game for an hour or two of additional gameplay and reused assets. I feel sorry you were suckered into Dark Souls DLC. One of the most notorious series for recycling old content from past games.

Comparing this to the Old Hunters trailer makes it pretty underwhelming. The music is uninspired, the art direction and color are still lacking, the area doesn't look too interesting and the boss' design is about as creative as the Iron King. Hopefully this is just one small fraction of the DLC, but after AoA, I'm skeptical.

I dunno about prices in the US, but here in the UK a new book is about £8-£10, a new film (on blu-ray) is about £15-£20, a new game is about £40-£60. along with that, to play games you've gotta buy £300-£400 consoles (both of the current gens if you want all the exclusives), along with spending around £600 for a decent PC (again, for exclusives, or mods, or just an overall more enjoyable gaming experience). Add it all up and it becomes pretty fucking pricey shit.

Very little is in 4k. There are lots of 4k displays, but the content is lacking. And lots of things that were released to Blu-ray will take a LONG time to come to 4k, if they ever do. I'm in the same boat as you. I think we're safe.

Most of the DLC is cut content. You were supposed to explore the converged city shit before going to the final boss. There's a reason why they have you teleport from the shrine bonfire in that world and then immediately another one outside that goes straight to the boss.

Does the GOTY edition have any differences besides DLC? I played through the game in a few days when it first came out over at a friends hut I haven't bought it and haven't wanted to, there wasn't anything I wanted to do again and PvP was boring compared to the other games. The first DLC looks bland and a boss that takes forever doesn't seem fun. Is there any reason to buy the GOTY edition?
