As far as I know, Russia didn't have blacks in their army because they didn't have colonies. Maybe they had a lost tourist somewhere at some point, but that's it. They probably had some middle asians tho, uzbeks and kazhaks. I don't know too much about russian army in WWI desu

Diverse casting is fine for theatre, but not for historical set stories. Nothing can prevent you from doing so, but then be imaginative instead of just swapping actors. 13th warrior has an arab warrior in scandinavia but it makes sense in the story.
