Ace Attorney

Are these games any good, Sup Forums? I know absolutely nothing about them.

Do you like reading and solving mysteries?

t-b-h it's my favorite game series of all time next to Pokemon. Give it a try and see if you like it, then play through the first 3 games

They feel really short and really long at the same time

Definitely. Get the trilogy and start playing.

Not OP but does it matter if I skip Apollo justice?

bet your ass it is

Nope. Not at all. You'll miss out on Hobo Phoenix and some Trucy backstory but that's it.

you could skip apollo justice and DD and not miss a single worthwhile storyline or case

It starts the setting for the next 2 games after it

You'll miss some important plot details, but it's up to you. AA5 and AA6 kinda reiterate some of the plot, but it's best to just play it. It's not bad by any means, it's just not nearly as good as the first 3 games. 5 and 6 are excellent though.

Stellar series OP

I would absolutely, without a doubt, recommend the first three games to anyone. There's a few bumps in the road, but it's overall fantastic.

Be sure to play the DS versions and not GBA/iOS.

Before people start arguing over which game is better than the other or which game is "bad", every Ace Attorney game is a good game and some are really, really good.

They're not really games, they're closer to visual novels. But they're still enjoyable (at least the first three are, I've not played any of the later ones).

Agreed 100%.

I'd rate them like this:
1: 9/10
2: 8/10
3: 10/10
4: 8/10
5: 9/10
6: 10/10

So yeah, no game in the series is bad, some are just amazing in comparison.

Thanks.

tfw no Dai Gyakuten Saiban yet even though they announced part 2

uh, yes. It isn't really worse than the original trilogy, it also has the best intro case in the series

what about Apollo Justice on Android? Playing it right now, it really looks and feels better than NDS

Is there a better pairing?

Oh, I don't know about that version. I was just referring to the original trilogy.

Adrian's a loser.

Here are your canon pairings.

It's really good, don't skip it. Has the best prosecutor in the series.

>Adrian's a loser.
Franziska will kick your ass if you talk about her insecure qt waifu like that again.

it came out recently, the graphics look really good and other than that, I don't think anything changed compared to the original

these games are the only reason you really buy a DS and 3DS.

AJ has best soundtrack

>Has the best prosecutor in the series.

You're crazy.

Who's better? Only answer I'll accept is Godot

Who's your favorite defense attorney?

I like Uncle Ray.

Never particularly been into /u/, but it's pretty cute.

Unironically the weeaboo samurai

Both Godot and Edgeworth are better.

You can't really skip it. Probably the worst mainline title, but it's not awful, just handled poorly. Just to focus on what you enjoy about it, rather than the things you don't like. There's definitely enjoyable bits in it, but you need to know what things are still canon.

Edgeworth was only good in AA1

Literally everyone but the Payne brothers, and I'd arguably say even they're better because they were always meant to be a joke.

Except maybe the SoJ Payne who tries to murder Phoenix out of spite.

What would a game built around him be like?

Isn't that like the only time he's a prosecutor though?

I also enjoyed the part when you were up against him in Duel Destinies. It makes me kinda miss prosecutors that know what the fuck they are doing without going LOL MANIPULATION and MOVE ON

>Phoenix still has more of a father-daughter type relationship with Pearl than he does with his actual daughter
Man what the fuck. Atleast have him adopt Pearl too if you're gonna do that.

How was he bad in AA2 or AA3? Or in the Investigations series?

Every case is like 4-4 except there's no way to win because you're an idiot, and instead of time-traveling between the past and present, you have the court days and a minigame segments where you throw darts (poorly) at Phoenix Wright's head until you feel good enough to go back in for the second and third day of trialing.

Not him but I assume he means as a prosecutor. He's just too friendly with Wright.

DD dlc case was good.

And Klavier was good in no games, so I'm not sure what your point is.

Hey Nick let's go eat hamburgers!

Play the origional trilogy first, if you have no interest in playing the future games than that's fine. If you really liked the games and want more you really do yourself a disservice by skipping it. While it's not as good as the rest of the series, it's still enjoyable and worth at least 1 playthrough if you are a fan of the series

Exactly! I hate how AA threads devolved into which games suck when all the games are good

Gregory was really likeable in that game. I also liked how Kristoph wasn't a goodie-goodie defense attorney, yet another huge missed oportunity in AJ. Calisto kinda counts I guess.

Sorry I still ship Larry and Franny

>Larry-Maya
why

>Last night I got to the part when he says "Then I'll see you in court, Apollo." in SoJ and this played youtube.com/watch?v=I8v3DPdTbzw

HOLY
FUCKING
SHIT
PHOENIX

What if there was a case where Phoenix Wright was accused of murder for stabbing someone with his spiky hair?

...

>Maya & Larry
I could see that, honestly. They both keep getting into fucking trouble wherever they go.

>Phoenix & Pearl
Actually no, delete this you sick fuck. Wouldn't mind Pearl being at the office more often though, admittedly.

I legitimately think AJ has the best Pursuit theme.

I assume it's because of their genki personalities. Still not a very good pairing though.

I love AJ's sprites and soundtrack. I dont really dig the 3D sprites but I dont mind em.

>Guilty until proven Innocent
What is wrong with Japanifornia's legal system?

For what it's worth, cases in this series would just sorta end the moment you cleared your client of suspicion but for that rule. It's a weird hang-up that this series really heavily relies on.

>case begins
>first cross-examination
>OBJECTION!
>make up bullshit theories on how your client's fingerprints could have been left on murder weapon
>innocent until proven guilty
>case ends
>you win
sounds like fun user

You think law is a fucking joke? INNOCENT LIVES are at stake here because of this broken court system.

That music gets me fucking GOING

Definitely up there with the original. I can't decide.

user the fuck are we supposed to about Japan's ass backwards criminal justice system?

GAVIN, STOP.

Ray was a pretty good villain desu.

Diego. I especially liked the scene where he crushed his coffee pot with his bare hand.

Which is about all we've seen of him.

He must have been a great attorney.

Prosecutor tier list

Why does everyone say Ray is the villain? Is it an inside joke?

But anons, in this dark age of the law...
