This game is perfect.
Why the hate?
NoA's writing is all over the place and sometimes the map design feels a little plain, but I see no reason for oldfags to actively dislike the game.

I thought it was pretty good, started with the gba games.
I don't know, maybe because the bigger focus on waifus? But the game wouldn't really sell without them.
The level design is very blitz-focused which gets repetitive
Its a good game.
It also turned Fire Emblem to "that game with sword users that keep being put into smash" to a legit and wanted IP in the west.
Bad map design, grinding, and pair up makes the game a joke. It did a lot of things right though, it's not a bad game by any means.
The 2nd half of the game's story gets pretty bad.
But I think it's one of the most loved FE games. Classic FE fans just want to hate on it because it made FE some kind of waifu/husbando simulator with very anime characters but honestly Fates did that in a bad way.
>husbando simulator
But that was Radiant Dawn.
>This game is perfect
>describes a flaw with the game
so it's not perfect then
I love Awakening for the most part. The maps could've been better, but the overall presentation was good. Fates was a mess and I felt suffocated and hated all the characters.
can you beat this game without grinding?
Awakening is my first FE game and I love it!! I'm replaying it now on casual mode and it's actually super comfy.
Fates at least had good map design and more interesting units/classes. Awakening was boring empty fields.
>This game is perfect.
>NoA's writing is all over the place and sometimes the map design feels a little plain
hmmmmmmmmmmm
This
It's hardly a tactics game when you're just rushing units into each other for the majority of the maps.
Awakening and Fates are pretty much polar opposites but Fates is more hated because of the heavy censorship
Fates is/are the shit one(s).
Maybe if you care more about anime cutscenes instead of actual gameplay.
Not sure if calling it perfect is bait or not.
Either way I did like it and had a lot of fun, but the consensus that the maps are too open and there's not really any mission variety is true. Fates gets a big edge in that regard.
Awakening's story isn't amazing either, but it's alright. It blows the absolutely retarded story of Fates out of the water though.
Both are still really good games. Censorship of Fates and Treehouse being cancer really sucks though.
>buying 1/3 of a game
>asked by a Sup Forumsirgin to only appreciate 1/2 of that 1/3
fuck off
Except everyone only ever recommends playing Conquest and it's just as long as Awakening with tougher, longer maps.
It's your own fault if you got memed into buying Birthright and Revelations.
I enjoyed it, but it's certainly not perfect. Awakening was actually my first game in the series but I went back and played the older ones and even I can admit that most of them were better.
I remember when treehouse translation meant instant quality and charm, like the TTYD localization
The only thing that I can really say Awakening deserves praise for without question is the sheer amount of content.
It's something around 25-ish story chapters and 23-25-ish Paralogues, right? Even without grinding or DLC, that is a massive amount of content compared to older FE games.
However, everything else is at least slightly flawed.
The map designs/objectives are pretty boring.
The unit balance is pretty awful.
Story is undeniably awful in both content and pacing.
While I would have to go back and really listen to confirm, the soundtrack in Awakening felt significantly worse/less memorable than the ones I have played recently (7, 8, and Conquest).
3D unit models and animations are not only worse than GBA sprites by miles, but also worse than the Gamecube games.
I get that you're just trying to drum up a conversation (or falseflagging) by calling it perfect, but there is absolutely no way that Awakening is a perfect game within its genre or series.
Still played and enjoyed the hell out of it, because I am a huge sucker for tactical RPGs
>play Awakening as my first FE
>though I must be bad at / not like Fire Emblem because the constant 1v1 rushing was difficult for me, extremely repetitive and forced me to constantly pair up which also made it repetitive and not fun
>play path of radiance
>mfw
this is my first fire emblem game and i thought it was boring. like idk what it is but to me there just isnt anything there other than anime portraits and simple tactical jrpg. I think its cuz i played disgaea before this that made this boring
On Normal you can beat the game on accident.
On Hard you can get by easily enough without grinding as long as you're prepared for the difficulty spike(s) around the middle.
Any higher, and I don't know. Never played without grinding at least a little in Lunatic, and never bothered playing Lunatic+
Honestly what I liked most about Awakening was the supports. If the old FE games had that amount of character interactions (to know them better) they'd be amazing.
This. After playing Disgaea, FE is boring as shit, I also now realize how fucking stupid RNG based level ups are. Some units are garbage just because they rolled +1 upon leveling a few times, and some units are garbage period. At least in Disgaea just about any unit can be good.
No, you're buying one full game with maybe 1/3 of the story, and being asked to enjoy the only part that really matters.
I'm not really a fan of how Conquest/Birthright/Revelations are broken up, but calling Conquest 1/3 of a game is just silly.
No, Awakening is incredibly shallow, from the gameplay to the characters.
Take Nowi for example. She has a really cool backstory, but it's all subtext, because she never drops her cute act for even a second. She's seen a lot of shit in her days, hell she was being sold as a (sex) slave before she escaped and was aided by Gregor. It's even confirmed at one point that she's "acting" for the benefit of her human companions, but she never drops that or lets you in, even for her husband even in their S rank support.
It's a similar story with Tiki, but at least you know more about her if you played the older games. You will never be Marth.
...
FE characters are about as shallow as it gets, I'll never get how Lucina is insanely popular when her character is flatter than her chest.
>bland open maps
>rout the enemy every mission
>waifushit and self-insert
>"""""Perfect"""""
nu Sup Forums everyone
FE is really babby's first strategy series. Almost anything else blows it out of the water in terms of units & map designs. FFT, Ogre, hell even Shining Force shits all over it.
How do I not suck at this game? The characters I want to level up die in like one or two hits.
and here i thought it was just me cuz if i never played disgaea i might have thought they were alright.
>This game is perfect.
no it ain't
It's boring as shit.
>every map is rout/defeat boss
>Pair Up is busted horseshit
>supports are so shit they might as well not even be there
>characters are the blandest anime tropes in series history
>snowflake MU
>difficulty choices are "braindead easy" and "complete RNG horseshit", no middle ground
Nah fuck Awakening. I really hope FE Warriors isnt just a bunch of Awakening/ Fates characters, wouldnt surprise me if they tried to pull this shit though
Manakete live 50 times longer than humans, of course they'll think you're a fragile little baby who can't handle it.
>I had 4 husbands before you, spent 500 years alone drifting, killed more people than you've met in your life, also you'll never match up to my first love, he was the hero king of legend
From my like, 3 years of trying to get FE fans into other SRPGs, I can vouch that Fire Emblem fans like Fire Emblem because they've never actually played another SRPG. Phantom Brave, for example, blows FE out of the water in just about every department but graphics, but it sold under 15k on it's Steam port. It's kind of fascinating how the most popular SRPG out there has a fanbase of people who don't actually play the genre.
Disgaea gets shit for having grindan, but at the very least it's more than rock paper scissors with RNG on the side.
Fire Emblem franchise got popular. Basically more stupid Sup Forums baggage that doesn't apply to 99.9999999999% of the worlds population
Dolphin?
the only good thing about awakening is the UI and nowi. everything is else is trash, especially the gameplay.
When a SRPG fan plays a SRPG, they are generally looking for a game that encourages lots of thinking. They want a game where positioning matters, where they can stare at every map for hours and still not feel entirely satisfied with their tactics. Note that the game doesn't necessarially need to be complex, in fact many of the best ones are mechanically rather simple, but they are balanced and maps are designed in a way that forces the player to think.
Awakening holds no appeal for that sort of SRPG fan. Even on the highest "difficulty" level the best tactics are very simple, and nearly every map plays out the exact same way. It just feels like the gameplay is a slog, you're not really thinking while you play and are just dealing with it to get on with the game. That brings us to the next problem: the writing is terrible. So why would a SRPG fan play Awakening?
>people complain about Awakening
>mfw every FE game before it is even worse
>mfw people actually consider PoR and FE7 to be good games
>and sometimes the map design feels a little plain
>sometimes
The entire game is just rushing across wide, open areas. Having to set it to the highest possible difficulty doesn't magically make it more tactical, especially when the pair up mechanic is so ridiculously broken and activates even when units aren't specifically paired up.
Great waifu game. Best Nintendo game in years.
