-t because music taste is subjective.
I fucking love this game's soundtrack.
I enjoyed all the arrangements in HGSS as well.
Silver was my first Pokemon game, and the OST has stuck with me all these years later.

I really didn't like the remixes in HGSS, the soundfonts they used were pretty awful.
How could I forget:

GOAT
4 seconds in, this song always throws me for a loop every time I hear it:
youtube.com
New bark towns theme is so fucking comfy
...
>not posting the GOAT
>No one posts Ace Attorney
Jesus, it's like you faggots never played actual games that wasn't normie shit.
Fuck I miss being a kid. I'm starting to understand the feeling of looking back. I wanted to get here then, now I want to be there now.
Life is weird, man.
>It's a music thread

>it's like you faggots never played actual games that wasn't normie shit.
ace attorney is overrated, watch this
Literally had to learn this on guitar because I love it so much
Still pretty salty about how badly they butchered this one in the remake.
I think Pokemon is just one of those series where none of their games have a bad OST, maybe a few bad tracks, but never bad as a whole.
Etrian Odyssey series is great too
The anime did a good job remaking this theme.
youtube.com
First incomplete thought thread I've ever agreed with.
I went my entire childhood never knowing about Kanto in G/S
Literally the best track in the series.
>tfw never played gen 2
>started and already felt the immersion with these graphics and soundtrack
This is going to be a ride
i forgot about g/s/c god tier ost

Prepare yourself, user. Strap in.
>youtube.com
The percussion in this is fucking great. How is the Game Boy soundchip doing this?
Agreed, there's some strong Zelda vibes there, very adventurous. I only wish the DS remakes would have had the music a little more orchestral than the end product.
>Route 38/39
That's my favorite fucking track in the entire series, now I finally remember the route number.
The remake track just doesn't come close I'm afraid!
>Can't find my GBA and games
>How is the Game Boy soundchip doing this?
Japanese black magic

God-tier
gen 2/3 (even though the soundfront on gen 3 wasn't ideal) are GOAT soundtracks, don't know what happened with gen 4
The music in Silver/Gold/Crystal was the last time I enjoyed Pokémon music.
The newer it became the less sound quality they had and they all suffered the muffled SNES and GBA sound from there on.
Pokémon for me is always that 8-bit crip chiptune melody awesomeness.
youtube.com
The anime one is damn good but not video game related.
And now the rival theme
youtube.com
Adding this as well.
youtube.com
Because Gary fucking Oak needs his own damn video.
I unironically liked gen 3's trumpets.
But XY has the most lukewarm OST of any Pokemon game. Every song is bland and forgettable except for like 2 or 3.
I miss the simplistic character designs... I mean why this woman for example think her onion rings are cool? Shes not even E4 btw.
how many games has that motherfucked been in
Don't worry, SM fixed the waifus.
Take your pick.
I agree. I think the limited sound font forced them to be more creative with the music, there are a lot of game remakes where I feel that the original music was better.
Gen 4 also had a GOAT OST that's what happened my man. Gen 4 is my personal favourite OST (I think)

Shit was comfy as fuck
>ps2
u wot
Gen 4 and 5 had soundfonts that resembled MIDI shit more than anything.
RSE's soundfont was flawed, but it's very cool and distinctive, especially that french horn. Future gens tried too hard to be generic.
found it (xenogears too)
There's not a SINGLE song below a 9/10 in the entire Melee OST. But GSC's OST is still godlike as well.
This guy gets it too.
To each their own.
I'm just voicing my opinion.
Glad people can have a more mature tone here compared to Sup Forums
Now let's see if this is as epic as the uploader claims it to be.
youtube.com
Motherfucking everyone I guess.
Can't stop his Oak.
You just posted my first waifu's that I can remember.
Dunno, I kinda stopped playing after half-way through Crystal and haven't play one since.
Call me genwunner, but I just can't agree to those loose designs.

I agree that Gen 2 was when Pokemon music peaked though.
Blue was my first Pokemon game yet Gen II's soundtrack was far more memorable in retrospect. I wouldn't even say it was that great of a score just very distinct.
Original or remake?
Crystal. I played HGSS before, and every other pokémon game besides gen 1 and 2 because I thought they were too outdated.
Gen 1 is a goddamn mess, but I've been loving 2.
Can't be beat.

Keldeo was a mistake, but so are 90% of modern Legendaries. Though you can argue that Keldeo's intended to look young and juvenile, seeing as how it's supposed to parallel d'Artagnan of the Three Musketeers.
Here's a better example of a horse Pokemon if you want one. Specifically based on draft horses, which are huge as fuck and have muscular builds and that extra hair on their legs.
I'm gonna cry :(
Ocarina of Time is genuinely Koji Kondo's masterwork. There is not a single bad track on the OST.

Seriously you could list every track on the OST and it's great in some way. Fucking glorious.
Oka, woah, that's WAY better, but it still suffers from the balloon art style with detail-less complexity.
wut MM and WW are better
One thing I notice about RBY's soundtrack is it doesn't have much percussion, it's all very barebones with simple melodies. Gen 2 is very percussive and has a lot of driving beats. I think that's part of why it's so memorable.
That being said, this one theme is better than most of gen 2:
youtube.com
Get your tiny bluetooth keyboards ready bitches
youtube.com
This was almost my favorite song from these games
Agreed 100%. Aside from the barren ambient tracks like being inside a cave, every song is memorable and magical.
That's just the style that they're going for these days, looking more cartoony/unique and less generic Akira Toriyama-ish.
Mind you, there are still some highly detailed and cool as fuck Pokemon among the new bunches, and they still have tons of details, especially the reptilian/insectoid ones.
>tfw no high-res official art of the majority of gen 7

Why is a game from 2010 making me nostalgia this hard?
Oh wait, 2010 was 7 years ago.
I can easily run Dolphin Ishiiruka on my laptop, so yeah, I bet it would work fine for you.
m8 I've never even played Katamari but I've been listening to Katamari Mambo, Lonely Rolling Star, and Cherry Blossom Color Season all week. Mambo in particular is aggressively stuck in my head, especially at work. I've been thinking about emulating it once and for all because it looks so fun.
I forgot that was le ree frog image, not just le ordinary sad frog. Sorry.
I've noticed a common trend that a lot of people who grew up with gen 2 really liked the gen 5 games
>the moon and the prince
>lonely rolling star
>katamari mambo
>gin and tonic and red red roses
>wanda wanda
>que sera sera
>katamaritaino
>cherry blossom color season
how did one game have so many good songs
unreal tournament and warcraft 2 also had amazing soundtracks
I liked the Pokemon Stadium 2 versions of this game's ost.
The radio was rad.
Silver was my favorite game growing up and I think gen 5 was pretty good. Better than gen 4 at least, though I haven't picked up BW1 in nearly 3 years because there's nothing to do.
Should it be legal for a single video game to claim ownership to so many perfect pieces of music?
yes, even the birthday song
Gold was the first Pokemon game I owned (though my brother had Red and I grew up watching him play it before I had my own Gameboy), and to be honest, my favorite thing about gen 5 was the music, but I absolutely hated the Unova region. Even Kalos is slightly better in my opinion. So the games themselves I could live without, but the music was certainly top notch.
Do it friend, you won't be disappointed. It's a game everybody should experience. And just so you're aware, two of the songs you mentioned have new versions in Katamari Forever that you may be interested in as well.

Actually just go listen to the soundtracks for all the Katamari games, they're all great.
I'm familiar with the first one actually, but I gotta give the other one a listen. Thanks user.
This fucking shit kills me. I can't help but go back to being 6 and getting Silver after having played through Yellow. The colors with daytime and nighttime and running around with Totodile. As well as this fucking soundtrack playing in what should be uninamously be considered some of the best use of the Midi GB sound. Fuck guys. It's too late for this shit. I'm so glad I got to be a part of this reality.
Have you tried black 2? It's jammed with content.

These 4 games easily have my favorite OSTs of any video game, but dear god are they boring pieces of shit to actually play
Gen 4 is the soft jazz of pokemon. Shame the region is so slow
Huh. Guess my love for GSC wasn't because of nostalgia goggles after all.
