Look at the proportions, anatomy, expressions, scene composition, THAT's what made the remake worse, not being digital.

The increased cost of getting high detail animation, Toei's cheapness and desire to cut all corners, and the general change in artstyle for the series are more awful than the switch to digital.

I miss the 80s/90s era anime with sci-fi space with aliens. We don't really get those anymore.

True. Animation is outsourced now, unlike old DBZ. Sometimes Toei animates a bit more competently but it's not consistent.

As I understand it Bulma usually had purple hair in the manga, so Trunks got purple hair. Then in the anime Bulma's hair was usually blue, but Trunks hair was still purple. This sort of sorts it out, sort of.

It's not that it's digital, it's that there are some really lazy as fuck series out there. DBS looks like fucking trash because Toei knows that the fans will keep watching it anyways just because it's part of the Dragonball series, so they get to just sit on their flat asses and watch the money pile on effortlessly.
Meanwhile you got flavor of the month over here doing shit the right way despite being digital animation. And you should watch it too if you like the manga, it's shaping up to be a great adaptation of the series so far.

People with skill and artistic ability don't tend to gravitate towards the easiest and least impressive form of animation. Same goes for drawing and painting. People who actually know how to use colours and tools correctly will do just that. People without any talent will spend $1000+ on a cintiq so they can do digital "art" and just press ctrl+z every time they make one of their many, many mistakes, then of course they'll add filters to their work because they couldn't get the colours right themselves.
