They use different terminology because of the differences in the games, like it wouldn't make sense to use recovery for frames when it's used for getting back on stage, something that's not really present in traditional fighters. They could crossover with some imo, but it's probably too late for that

Are you crazy? It's just universal terminology. Recovery frame is a term used in non-fighting games too. People won't get confused between off-stage recovery and how many frames it takes you to recover after a smash attack.

I'd agree but the issues still stand that it's:
A) Technically illegal, they won't even publicly allow a mod of Brawl (which can run off disc + SD). Running a straight ISO would never pass. These are Nintendo sponsored events.
B) Technical issues. Higher chance of frame drops, crashes, generally less consistent than a console. Regardless of how minuscule the chance is, it's higher for no reason apart from "Well it's HD now!"
