Bayonetta

I'm playing it for the first time and I think I like the katana weapon the best so far because it makes it more DMC-like. Though I'll certainly try out the others as they come along.

Only thing I don't like about the game so far is that there are too many bosses. You run into like two packs of enemies and then it's another boss. I fucking love boss fights, but I don't feel like I can get a feel for the game properly if I can't fight more trash mobs. I'm just dodging them, going into witch time, and then mashing buttons.

I would be okay with this if there was a practice mode that lets me just fuck around with regular enemies for a bit instead of a bunch of pattern and camera angle changes. Is there one? I've only been able to practice on the loading screens with no enemies or test out techniques against one enemy at Gates of Hell.

there's a practice mode in bayo 2, but I don't think there is one in bayo 1 anywhere really

Damn. I didn't feel like I needed it in the DMC games. Maybe because the mechanics are simpler or something. But I just wish Bayo wasn't so extreme and crazy all the time, I wanna slowly learn the stuff before having boss after boss thrown at me.

Still, it's not too hard so far either on normal mode. I'm still learning and there's a whole game ahead of me still, and then Bayo 2

Can't you stay in the loading screens? Perfect practice mode desu.

You can, but you can't fight any enemies unfortunately. It is a little help, though. I like that it shows your inputs.

yeah you can I forgot how though.

I still haven't beat the secret boss in 2. I heard it is even harder in 1.

The "bosses" you're fighting now are pretty smalltime, mostly. Those big guys from chapter 1, for example, appear pretty frequently later. Try to think of them as just slightly stronger regular enemies.

Yeah, I just expected to be able to flip a bunch of people in the air and kick their ass, but it would probably get boring after a while. I'm realizing that they are dying pretty quick for bosses.

oh right, I think the shop loading screen has enemies, try that

he already mentioned that in the OP

Secret boss was harder in 2, because you could cheese it in 1 by running away til the enemy was off screen, and charging strong sword attack until you see their shadow.

Learn how to dodge offset. All high level play is based off of it. Also by air dodge and bat within as quickly as possible. Met Grace and Glory yet?

>too many bosses

Those are just enemy introductions. Bosses generally have an entire chapter dedicated to them. Apart from Jeanne but she's awesome and the best fight in the game so having her appear during levels is great.

Also unlike Bayo 2 witchtime is a crutch in Bayo 1. Use it of course, but if you want to really get good at the game you need to be able to function without it.

>cheesing Rodin
WHY. I mean literally what's the point? The point of these games is to basically emulate cutscenes in normal gameplay. If you can't beat Rodin stylishly then why bother? Any reward will be just emtpy.

>play bayo 2 after dmc 4 and MGR
it's so fucking fast

I'm trying to get good at dodge offset. Should I be holding down buttons most of the time for combos to get used to it? Is it good to get some guns between the combo anyway? Seems like it's harder to get used to it with the sword though since if I'm not mistaken, it starts some other kind of attack when held instead of shooting (since guns aren't equipped when the sword is).

I don't think I met Grace and Glory yet

NEver mind, I'm fucking around now and it will just cancel the sword charge up if I dodge.

I need to just get in the habit of holding buttons instead of mashing I think.

Press kick, hold it while dodging then the combo shouldn't stop. For instance you can hold the sword charge and dodge offset to keep it if you do it right. Hold P dodge while still holding then when you release P it should then go off. You'll get it eventually but you can even use dodge offset to skip parts of combos. So instead of doing PPPKK you can start with a kick then dodge offset twice to get straight to the two wicked weave kicks. Might be worth using guns to get the hang of it. You can tell you're dodge offsetting if the guns are firing as you dodge. Makes a neat way to keep the combo counter up as you can still inflict damage while dodging.

Sorry I mean press punch. and again when describing PPPKK.

That's what I love from the genre though. Every games and series actually feel different from each other (even DMC3 and 4) unlike GOW and its clones

I actually think the emulator may just be on the fritz and playing at 1.2 speed, loading screens and in game feel different

Bayo can be emulated now? Cebu?

Yeah but you have to turn the music off or it'll rape your ears, been playing the tracks to fights through youtube.
Minor visual bugs everywhere as well. But I don't have a wii u. If it gets ported to switch I'll probably buy it there.

bayo 2 feels like someone enabled turbo mode

yes the emulator plays at higher speed for whatever reason
bayo 2 still feels pretty fast when it runs properly
