How to deal with this situation?
How to deal with this situation?
Just pretend to be happy for him.
I have a high school friend who has played WoW non-stop since launch (he is 30 this year) and let his obsession kill his career ambitions and led him to marry an ugly woman older than him with kids. That's the sad face comic.
My incle did the same thing to me. Came over to watch a football game, saw my creepy anime bullshit shelf and games and told me he'd thought I'd have grown out of it by now. "It's better than a 45 year old spending all his time at a bar". Just watched the game after.
I was in that situation twice.
It's best to change the topic or ask them a question.
I don't start with "what games are you playing now" because I'm not a complete autist.
But yeah I just pretend to happy for him and ask him about his job.
always thought i was the guy on the left. as it turns out i am the normie on the right now. i have failed you Sup Forums
Imagine being so fucking boring and unambitious that the first topic you think to discuss with someone you haven't seen in years is video games, because playing video games is all you've really done in the years since you've seen them.
>Haven't seen this person in years
>First point of conversation you bring up is fucking video games
do not do this
This happens all the time with a guy I used to hang with in high school. Like, I still play games like a motherfucker, but it's not the first thing I've ask about to anyone.
This dude however will ust bring up stuff like "Man, I've been playing so much World of Warcraft lately" and it's fucking bizarre. His parents paid him to go to engineering college, and he finished it, but he doesn't work and still lives with them.
>intentionally bringing up video games in a conversation
>still having contact with old friends
>still leaving the house
LUL
This, if I ran into a child hood friend, my first line of conversation would be to tell his wife about that one extremely embarrassing and extremely gay thing we did as kids while screwing around
Hi, Timmy, do you like Dark Souls or are you a filthy casual?
Also have a job and/or family but still keep your hobbies so that it's not bizarre at all?
Diversify your hobbies.
but all i know about are videogames
The secret is that everyone will eventually end up like the person on the right. The one on the left is just a projection of what you are right now, because the strip is appositely made to make you feel bad about your current status.
>"It's better than a 45 year old spending all his time at a bar"
how much you want to bet you didnt say that
>everyone will eventually end up like the person on the right
>It's better than a 45 year old spending all his time at a bar
Wrong. But it doesn't matter because he probably couldn't hear you stuttermumble that anyway.
Am I being too optimistic?
