Twilight Princess is not a good game, in terms of gameplay and story
The gameplay is mediocre. Combat consists of pressing A to fling your sword at the enemy then blocking whatever easy to read attacks you see are coming towards you. The game also forces you to learn cumbersome moves from some ghost skeleton that are used once against a certain enemy and then forgotten afterwards. The wolf mechanics were barebones – Wolf Link had no advantagesother than running faster. Same theme with most of the weapons and items acquired. The temples are uninspired – merely a copy of what Ocarina of Time did some 8 years before. The bosses were a joke where most of the time they just stood there, let out an AoE attack which then left them open and cue the music to tell the dumbfuck player to hit its weak spot.
The story and plot are mediocre and unimaginative – not knowing what exactly Link is supposed to be doing and just seemingly dragged around because he’s the Chosen Hero? Gotta deliver this sword to the Royal Family, no wait now gotta save village, wait now Im a furry and oh look there’s Zelda and why is the Castle under Twilight? Wait now I gotta get these artifacts? Now hol’ up why am I going to this desert prison again? Why the fuck am I getting these mirror shards when Ganondorf is RIGHT THERE IN THE CASTLE and YOU HAVE THE POWER TO BYPASS THE BARRIER MIDNA? Oh so now I finally get to kill the big baddie and shiet.
The lore behind the Twili didn’t even make sense other than to pad an otherwise convoluted timeline. What was the point of introducing the Twili or making the Interlopers and their power so special when in the end it was POINTLESS to the overall plot and inconsequential to the story other than providing a motive for the MINOR (and shitty) villain Zant to take over Hyrule?
Again, how is this game even considered one of the best of the series? Everything about it is just disappointing, lackluster, and cliche. The soundtrack is okay I guess.
Adrian Anderson
You wrote too much, nobody is going to read that shit.
But yeah, it's not that good compared to other Zeldas.
Elijah Evans
If you're going to write that much at least say something worthwhile.
Leo Barnes
Not an argument, TP grimdark babby
Gabriel King
yea its crap.
Angel Cook
Outside of some speedrun glitch shit, Zelda's never really had deep gameplay. All it had was exploration and nonlinearity, both practically gone since LADX.
Owen Sanchez
yes i prefer the more colorful and full of life graphics than this darker and dirty tone, and you guys can say what you want about squidward sword but the game delivered the fun that most of the past zeldas failed
Levi Howard
You somehow managed to not even touch upon the two stupidest plot points.
>Ganondorf having the Triforce of Power >Zelda reappearing without explanation after giving her piece of the Triforce to Midna
Austin Thompson
Twilight Princess has the best dungeons so it's the best game.
Liam Campbell
>"temples were uninspired" >but they were inspired by OoT
Justin Smith
No it doesn't. The dungeons are painfully linear, they just look cool.
Jackson King
Wind Waker HD was a good remake though. Could have had more dungeons but apparently they already used 'em in TP.
Nolan Foster
TP's dungeons had a pretty grandiose feel to them and looked interesting but no, content-wise they weren't actually all that great. They were just as linear and easy as Wind Waker's.
Skyward Sword's sandship on the other hand, now THAT was a good fucking dungeon.
Evan Lewis
None are as linear as the Forest or Shadow Temple though but Goron Mines and Ciy in the Sky blow.
Eli Long
Arbiter's Ground was the only nonshit dungeon though.
Kayden Flores
well I guess it's time for a ranking...
WW > MM > OoT > SS >>>>>>> TP
TP was a slog to get through and I didn't even think about 100 per centing it
and fyi OP, the soundtrack is fucking terrible
Carson Johnson
>combat consists of pressing A to use your sword
Jeremiah Martin
The controls are literally perfect, camera is great for its time, the Zelda lock-on mechanic is amazing and something most games back then were painfully missing.
The level design and dungeons are great and hundred times more complex and deep than most games which call generic corridors "dungeons", see Witcher 3 or Elder Scrolls.
I could go on but to sum up; you're full of shit.
Owen Garcia
>pressing A to fling your sword at the enemy then blocking whatever easy to read attacks you see are coming towards you
That's every 3D Zelda though, besides MM
Nathaniel Peterson
Skyward Sword was different, but I wouldn't say it was any better.
Eli Miller
>Combat readable So is every other zelda game? >Cumbersome moves That are strong and diferent than normal atacks? You are retarded or lazy if you didnt use them >Dumb wolf Agreed, couldve had more mechanics in it, apart from digging, jumping, balancing, sniffing and having midna with you >Weapons and items What do you expect from a zelda game >Dungeons see >Bosses So is every other zelda game? >Story Whats wrong with it? Everything felt significant, even searching the fucking sky cannon Also, how could midna break the barrier without the artifacts? >Am i a fag? Yes i dont even know why i replied I bet youve seen an review and/or rushed through the game
Adam Hernandez
...
Brody Cooper
Yeah it's good. Checkmane.
Dylan Bailey
>fucked up the cel shading >add ridiculous amounts of bloom >implement frame rate drops
Robert Collins
The first few 3D zeldas get a pass due to 3D being recent and controls not being standardized. TP was released in 2006 and played like OoT
Christian Hernandez
People who say TP has great dungeons have actual shit taste.
Eli Collins
WW was way more dark. That's the funny thing. TP was pretty standard despite its artstyle and no one really came out of it worse for wear while WW was a dire situation during the end times.
Christopher Cruz
you realize that second guy was in support of twilight princess you fucking mongo
Brandon Cruz
And so am i?
Luis Martinez
Ganondorf having the ToP isn't that mind boggling. We already know the triforce is split in TP thanks to Link and Zelda. It goes to the most suitable person, right? Who else would it go to but Ganon? There was also that slightly retroactive shit about cycles and with Ganondorf being in the world while the other two are it would naturally go to him. Din could also just be a troll here. It's really not a plot hole when there's plenty of ways he could have it.
Parker Evans
>when you're nostalgia blind
Christian Evans
>Ganondorf having the ToP isn't that mind boggling. We already know the triforce is split in TP thanks to Link and Zelda Come to it, why do they have their pieces? The Triforce only splits when someone without a balanced personality touches it. Why isn't the Triforce still sealed beyond the door of time, like it was at the end of OoT?
Brandon Jones
>WW >Good
Gavin Long
>So is every other zelda game? Not an argument. TP was released late into the 2000s where the action adventure genre has been standardized.
>That are strong and diferent than normal atacks? You are retarded or lazy if you didnt use them
They had no uses outside of specific situations. Only the back slice and jump attack were remotely useful.
>What do you expect from a zelda game
The question you should be asking is, "What do you expect from an adventure game from 2006." And the answer to that is to either shorten the huge list of weapons to a core set that can be upgraded and used consistently throughout the game.
>Dungeons
Mediocre and hardly ever challenging. MM does a better job.
>So is every other zelda game?
Again, not an argument. Bosses like Morpheal and the dragon were a joke.
>Story. Whats wrong with it? Everything felt significant, even searching the fucking sky cannon
The Fused Shadows were useless despite the game making you waste half the fucking game to find them. The plot with the Sky cannon wasnt even that exciting. Sky chickens living in a dilapidated flying city, wow...
Try harder.
Easton Smith
Read the timeline. The triforce has been split since OoT due to time travel shit and young Link taking the Triforce of courage with him unwillingly causing the Triforce to split in other timelines
Levi Morgan
I feel like this isn't the case for N64 Nintendo games. Yes, there are improvements from the newer titles but they often come with gimmicks that may or may not be wanted. If you want that game without the gimmicks you get Ocarina. Same thing with Mario 64 vs. Sunshine and nothing else came along for 15 years so 64 is still king to many because they hated fludd and thought Galaxy was too linear/hated Mad Space physics, Odyssey may change that.
Leo Roberts
>Combat consists of pressing A to fling your sword at the enemy you fucked up
Wyatt Hughes
>standardized saldy, is not an generic action adventure game its an zelda game shild bash and mortal draw, two moves that you could use anytime >core set that can be upgraded are we still talking about zelda? almost every game has the long ass list of useless items >fused shadows where useless yeah, their only use was to kill zant, break the barrier and kill the huge ass beast boardorf sounds like someone didnt play
Samuel Wood
You forgot something
>t. Buttmad shitwaker poster
Oh and have this I suppose (You)
Leo Perez
is the GC version better?
Angel Rogers
Yes
Carson Cruz
y
Jaxon Taylor
It's the best because it has Midna.
Caleb Rogers
It's an alright game. I'd say it's at least "decent" if not "good". Overrated but still good. It's "color by numbers" as Zelda games go; does everything it should without breaking the mold either.
The story bugs me, though. Everything feels inconsequential and slapped together (especially when you go to get the Master Sword).
David Turner
>b-b-b-but
Not an argument
Juan Diaz
>WW >Good
Nice bait faggot.
Kevin Morgan
You fucked up right off the bat with A for your sword
Luke Stewart
>twilight princess is shit because its shit and shit shitty shit shit
This is why I hate talking about Zelda on Sup Forums, sub-10 IQ retards don't actually explain why the things they don't like are bad. Never make a video game OP, sucking dicks is more your style.
Henry Roberts
But he clearly lists reasons as to why its shit, shitposter-kun. TP really is hot garbage
Luis Cruz
No he doesn't, he states things he doesn't like and states them with the implication that they are inherently bad. The only thing he is slighty right about are the hidden skills not having much application, but that's such a trivial problem it doesn't even take away from the whole experience.
>TP really is hot Damn right
Camden Harris
>pressing A to fling your sword at the enemy then blocking whatever easy to read attacks you see are coming towards you Yes OP, almost every video game ever made requires you to press the action button in order to attack.
Elijah Nguyen
>and states them with the implication that they are inherently bad.
Because they are inherently bad
Gavin Clark
>Combat consists of pressing A to fling your sword at the enemy then blocking whatever easy to read attacks you see are coming towards you.
