...million on the switch alone
Depends if the switch is a bomb or a success
l'd put the lower estimates at 5 million and absolute highest at 8
Between 3 and 5 million lifetime I'd wager
Not many considering the best version will be the PC version
which will take at least half a year to work
over nine thousand
vgsales.wikia.com
looking at this i'd say 4 or 5 million
not enough
10 million or more
There is no PC version lmao.
>emulating at ridiculously low speed with sound on
>lots of graphic and sound glitches
>playable
>"definitive version"
Tell me more about how emulating games can be called definitive versions of anything
Not enough, sadly.
ACtiona dventures are hard as fuck to make.
The future will be Sony shit like TloU and Horizon. No more puzzle solving, platforming in big RPGs etc.
Metroid, Alundra, classic Tomb Raider, Okami etc. all dead.
This is the future you chose, NeoGAF.
Got three.
>10
The game will have legs thought.
It will take a good while to build those numbers
What an epik ruse master
*>10m
Did you see Mario Kart, SM 3D World?
Patreon cucks will make it happen specially because it's Zelda
Over 9000!!! XD
6 million because everyone that has an Wii U is starving for new games
I don't know if it can save the Switch
it's from a dead console that nobody outside of nintenyearolds care about. it'll profit but anybody expecting a major hit is delusional
It's one of the most hyped games of the decade.
Unless Nintendo refuses to make cartridges it's going to sell like hotcakes
My guess is something between 3.5 to 4.5 million
I believe Nintendo said that it needs to sell at least 2 million units, so it'll be fine. Skyward Sword hit that pretty fast despite being late into the Wii's life and needing an accessory.
>It's one of the most hyped games of the decade.
sure
why do you care?
the important question is if it's enjoyable to play or not.
Done.
I think 6m is an easy bet
>won E3
>won Gamescom
>won mutliple "Most Hyped for 2017" awards
Ok user
Twilight Princess sold ~8.5, Breath of the Wild will easily smash that
1.7 million
worse than SS in line with the downward trend.
>patreon cucks
Seriously? I thought the whole appeal was it being free.
Only LOZ, OOT and TP hit that mark. BOTW might top out at around 4~5m.
Was on the Wii. Easily one of it's stronger evergreen games.
Launching on a new system will reverse that.
Gorillion
So did Evolve.
>won E3
the "idea" of a new zelda won E3. The game itself didn't do anything. The game demo itself was bad and dumb, and it surely helped that nintendo legacy producers are seen more as celebrities than the actual celebrities they had in attendance to play Battlefield.
that demo was aimless, uninteresting, proved that some staple zelda philosphies wouldn't be present, and the most it had to show was muh ragdoll physics.
Never did i think that the game would be ready by march and i'm sad that they rushed it cause that demo was more like an alpha concept rather than something supposed to be representative of a final product, yet here we are at the switch event with the same exact demo like hey - this really is what we're getting as a final product. This mish mash of metal gear ideas that don't fit in the Zelda universe including sneaking and killing animals for sustenance, the broken idea of using healing and stamina refilling items from the safety of the pause menu, the ability to reflect laser beams with any shit shield so lmao no mirror shield.
Like, you know they're gonna fuck it up and have the goddamn Hylian Shield be the best shield again.
>demo is only the tutorial area
>hut dur bad and dumb
Also it showed way more than just ragdoll physics
the switch will fail as a console.
i don't see how a gigantic world larger than the tutorial area full of shit we haven't seen yet is suppose to save the base gameplay concepts being flawed and half-baked.
>You can fly in Skyward Sword
>but there is absolutely nothing interesting to fly to or experience while flying cause muh clouds
>Make zelda game with a fully open dynamically loaded gigantic overworld
>you can only ride a horse or fast-travel between towers
fucks me hard they didn't stick the goddamn skyloft birds in this game. what a waste.
>the "idea" of a new zelda won E3. The game itself didn't do anything
>The other very interesting thing is that they stopped every milestone to play the game for a week and put everyone on the team on the same page. This in my opinion seems like a great idea to make a 300 team always be focused on every aspect of the game.
Holy shit why isn't this standard for the big AAA games?
No way this isn't getting a flying mount. But I don't know, I like the idea of a huge as fuck world that I have to run/climb/ride/glide through. Just hope it's interesting.
Nope. No other handheld device like it on the market. Loads of people I know here in Aus are getting one, no one outside neogaf cares about graphics.
It's going to have the best monster hunter game ever too
Dumb question but this game was made for the Wii U, correct?
Monster Hunter had never been better than on the Wii U and 3DS thanks to a second screen being practically necessary to work within how bizarrely poorly designed the games are.
Unless MH is getting completely redesigned or rebooted, i don't see how MH as it has been is going to be fun on a single screen device. Anything less than a full redesign would just be a downgrade thanks to the spoilage of the benefits of a second screen.
>This mish mash of metal gear ideas that don't fit in the Zelda universe including sneaking and killing animals for sustenance, the broken idea of using healing and stamina refilling items from the safety of the pause menu, the ability to reflect laser beams with any shit shield so lmao no mirror shield.
no one cares about any of that shit except giant autists
muh mirror shield reeeee
e3 demo gameplay was viewed millions of time and well received, it definitely contributed to the hype the game enjoys today
Yeah, but it doesn't really use the second screen that much as far as we know (though I fully expect WWHD/TPHD styled UI improvements exclusive on the Wii U) and most of the other motion stuff the Switch can do (and HD rumble as well)
Should we tell him where Monster Hunter got it's start and popularity?
2 million + 1 million wiiu
aonuma has a fucking hard on for stealth.
deadass, i wouldn't be surprised if the new ip he wants to do has a major stealth element.
Anyone got a list of all time Zelda sales?
>releasing on two consoles at the same time
why do they do this shit. it's so anti-hype to me.
You can paraglide. And with fire updrafts you bet that some speed runner will make it as good or better than actual flight.
People will probably map "highways" where it's easier/better to start forest fires so they can travel faster.
yeah
there's an interview that says that the wii u pad was supposed to be a full on sheikah slate and would talk, show the same info, some other stuff but got scrapped.
Around 10-30 million, granted that the Switch becomes a popular system.
It ain't just Zelda this time, it's Zelda Skyrim.
it is free. do you know what patreon is?
Everyone with a Wii u will buy it because they have all of like 5 games worth playing, plus all the new people who are buying a switch
>if the new ip he wants to do
Source?
Really didn't heard nothing about it
Worked for Twilight Princess
>People will probably map "highways" where it's easier/better to start forest fires so they can travel faster.
This would've been dope with Miiverse
Dammit Nintendo why kil the ONE THING Wii U had going for it.
bigly numbers
6 or 7 million
Aonuma almost always brings up that he wants to do something other than Zelda, even as back as with SS, and that a lot of his ideas end up on Zelda (which I'm betting is stealth, or else he wouldn't have said "fuck it" and added a full blown sound bar for stealth shit). The latest interview he did also mentions that there are some ideas that he won't put into Zelda because he wants to do it on something new, but doesn't know when that'll be.
Interesting. After so long he must be tired of making only zelda
Why not just set realistic budgets and expectations relative to potential game sales? If a small team of indie devs can make a Metroid II remake for free, I'm sure a small team of profersional Nintendo devs can make brand new full-price 2D Metroid game for a reasonable budget. Not everything needs to be AAA blockbuster with 300-men dev teams excepted to sell at least 10 million copies to make its money back.
he flat out said if he made a new ip he'd want to make a game about a thief
It was really apparent with Skyward Sword that he was burned out, but if you read some of his older interviews you could tell that working on this one in particular reinvigorated him and wants to make the best Zelda he can. Hell, even in the new interview it's clear that he's really working hard on BOTW.
When? Don't remember that.
>google
>aonuma
>thief
these three key words will help you solve the puzzle
It only needs to 2m to break even. Which for Nintendo it might seem really big, but in the grand scale of things it's pretty reasonable for their biggest game yet.
Goddamn Nintendo makes budget magic.
About 137, 138 if I give one to my neighbor.
nintendoeverything.com
>“Actually, Nintendo has been telling me to create a new IP. But then, they’re also telling me to make more Zelda games. I can’t really share much; I’m not sure I’m allowed to say anything. But I really like the idea of a game where I can live as a thief. That’s all I’ll say.”
Interesting...
The fact that he has ideas he explicitly won't put into Zelda means that that game is very likely in pre-production.
New IP from Retro, new IP from Aonuma, mech game (possibly new IP) from Sakurai, Arms...
Nintendo is really betting in new IPs this gen.
In the first month? I'd probably say
>Just over a million on the Wii U
>Just over 2 million on the Switch
The Switch version will continue to climb as more units become available, while I see the Wii U sales slowing down drastically after the first month.
By the end of the year, I'd expect
>1.75 million on Wii U
>6 million on Switch
They running out of characters in smash, after they get Goku what else do they have?
That's where new IPs come in
Switch numbers seem right, but I think it will sell more on the WiiU by sheer lack of competition.
bout three fiddy
40 billion
screencap this
Their last new IP was a major hit so it makes sense.
6 might be a bit much. I'd bet on ~4m by year's end.
new ip by retro is just emily rogers tier horseshit though, there's nothing confirmed or even hinted
You might be right. 4 million might be a better estimate.
I was thinking 6 million because there's no doubt that the Switch is going to be selling like crazy during the holidays, especially with a new Mario game. And it would make sense for people to pick up BotW for it along with said Mario game.
can't afford a nintendo switch, I guess im gonna attempt to steal one.
It's unlikely to be Metroid (the people who worked on Prime leaved Retro, and back in the day Nintendo offered to fund Prime 4 but Retro didn't want to) and it's taking to damn long for Donkey Kong.
We also know it's an idea that they pitched for Nintendo rather than something Nintendo came up with
So if it isn't new it's likely a revival.
>So if it isn't new it's likely a revival.
IT'S TIME so they can justify including him in Smash 5 like with Little Mac
>it's taking to damn long for Donkey Kong.
are you sure about that
don't tempt fate
Didn't Platinum show interest in that?
Platinum + Retro colaboration when?
IIRC both DKCR games took ~2 years of development.
Retro is working on something since at least early 2014, if not before that
At least we know what it isn't and will never be.
Definitely since early 2014 since DK went gold by Nov 2013.
I was thinking of split teams or something.
Retro hired plenty of the old Vigil staff that worked on Darksiders. They also hired some of the people who worked on Uncharted 3 IIRC
It's gonna be Metroid dude. A metroid game was strongly hinted at by Regi after the Switch reveal. Retro is the obvious choice to do it.
>tfw Retro Studios is working on Raven Blade again
that's developped by from software
retro is doing a duck hunt 3d platformer
Without any of the old Metroid people?
But to be fair, one of the ex-Naughty Dogs guys said it would be the highest point of his career, what does imply some well know franchise.
>Without any of the old Metroid people?
DKCTF was done without the lead level designer from Returns.
Well, then Retro is really the Studio of Theseus.
Damn
10 millions or more if nintendo can stock this for good,
WIsh it was your pic related or Eternal Darkness 2.
People need to remember that while popular, Zelda doesn't pull CoD numbers. The highest selling in the series did 8.5 million.
It could be Aonuma's thief game.
Given it makes sense.
>Tfw the stealth elements in BotW are only there because Aonuma's testing some things for his thief IP
An IP to surpass Metal Gear?
I honestly think this will outsell that. It has the Zelda name with more mainstream appeal from ripping off skyrim.
