Uni is a bit of a long con now. With enough time and effort, you'll break into your industry (if it's something useful and employable, such as engineering). It might take months to get situated and you'll be earning peanuts the first few years. But with time and patience, you can develop a set of highly lucrative skills if you know what you're doing.

A trade on the other hand: you're earning money straight away and you'll have a guaranteed job at the end. You can go into business for yourself and earn megabuxs. The big con that most people don't talk about is you end up physically fucked. Herniated discs, COPD - take your pick. At that point you're useless and your ability to earn a living is put drastically in peril.

I can't answer your question, but think about what sort of person you are. Are you driven, intelligent and keen to learn? Uni. Do you just want to earn a paycheck and not have to deal with bureaucracy and drama? Trades.

It's not a secret, even one our politicians said give up and move out of the city if you want to own a home.
