I gotta admit, i'm not usually a fan of this kind of metal-noise-wub stuff but holy fuck did it work well in this game. It was almost like the music was just the enemies brains screaming in confused terror as a 500lb man sprints at them at 100km/h only to leap over them and tear them to shreds with an old farmer's shotgun.
Holy shit are you me

A RIVER IN A DRY LAND
I think most people who enjoyed the new doom enjoyed the soundtrack, particularly how it was used, maybe without even realizing it. It really goes a long way to pump up the action and generally make everything feel more exciting.

I still sometimes sing a really loud, lounge singer type version of this song when no one is around.
Based B'z
I remember there was a vid on jewtube about composers in games just adding layers and either the music wasn't pumped enough to match the action (Destiny) or didn't respond with what was happening in game (see DX:HR) despite the fact the OSTs were good.
The composer for Doom added a billion gazillion different mixes for each theme and then just shuffles them around to match what the player was doing.
I think that was the best part. The way the music responds to your actions.

It's literally the best way to do a game soundtrack, well, at least an action game soundtrack.
Unlike a movie soundtrack where the action always corresponds to the music there's no way to account for the fact that the player might just be staring at a corner during your epic fight theme or like how sometimes with older games the action music would keep playing while you pause for a shit and you'd come back with just the level ambiance playing (looking at you half life 2) or just feel completely inappropriate (remember how many times you were strolling through oblivion with the fucking battle music playing because some mudcrab is following you a half mile back?)
MGR:R did it super well with having the lyrics kick in during boss transformations or QTE sequences, again that game's soundtrack isn't so great on its' own but having RULES OF NATURE kick in right on the boss QTE was a thing of genius, but still that's just working with a very heavily scripted situation, no one remembers anything but the boss themes from MGR:R
wow this turned out to be a long and rambling post
Yup exactly how i feel about it, i really want to replay it but the lazy map design bores the shit out of me. Shadow Warrior 2's randomized maps were lame too but fuck at least they were big and you could get lost in them.

Whenever I hear that heartbeat at the beginning
Best version of the TES theme by far, the more recent versions have always had way too much bombast to them while this one is eerily calm.
This shit gets me so motivated

Nothing ever made me feel like such a clever fuck than hearing this shit after successfully turning back time and saving someone's life.
