To be fair I don't think anyone besides Regis and Luna knew the full details of Noct's fate at the time.

I'm just gonna assume that he had been prepared for that for a long time. Because he knew if Regis died for any reason besides old age, or Crystal cancer, or an accident, his father died too.

I wanted to come back and give the game another shot but when they're wasting time and effort on retarded "timed carnival" stuff in frame-rate drop city and I just cbf.
The game is not an MMO. The Carnival is not for something like a real life holiday. Why is there not just a quest in the game to do it whenever? Why is there a 4 week time limit? It makes literally no sense.

I'm getting the feeling that stuff like the Carnival is gonna be a rotated event. But if anything I'd say come back after most of the patches and DLC are out.

I hope there's a local translator who can mention the interesting tidbits.

Maybe to see if people would be interested in timed events in single player games and to keep it even if it means larger patches for the game down the road

They said in December that the second half of the game would be getting story and gameplay patches but it would take a while. It's separate from the DLC and that's why they mentioned the difference between an Update and DLC in the beginnning of the stream.

Cutscenes are among the most dev intensive thing in game design.

Animating and voicing new story cutscenes that weren't originally planned (unlike the dlc) will take quite a while. Late in 2017 I imagine.

Maybe Cor and Gladio are looking for a royal tomb in that canyon.

Apaently it will add more story scenes and Noctis will get weapons earlier.

Unless the updates are fixing bugs or something there's absolutely no reason to bother. Nobody is going to replay the game just to see little things that were added, in fact that would just piss me off knowing that I didn't get the full experience if I had bought FFXV and played it on release.
