Since the Switch is a hybrid console and the Wii U is dead and the 3DS is nearing the end of its lifecycle, everyone assumed that Nintendo was going to consolidate its console and handheld developers so they could all make games for one powerhouse platform.
But where's the evidence of that? Where the hell are the handheld-side games? Why is there no new Animal Crossing, no new Pokemon, no FUCKING PICROSS? They didn't have to show anything, even just an announcement that those games are in development would evoke faith in the system. And on the 3rd party side of things, why have we not heard anything about Monster Hunter or Ace Attorney from Capcom, or Etrian Odyssey from Atlus? Surely at the presentation they could've had a Capcom rep come on stage and say "yeah, we're making a new Monster Hunter for the Switch."
All this, and we just got a report where Kimishima is saying that they're considering a successor to the 3DS.
What the fuck does Nintendo think they're doing?
Brandon Harris
they already said it's not the continuation of the 3ds
Samuel Sanders
They're just playing it safe in case the Switch doesn't sell as well as they'd like. Which is weird in a way as revealing big IPs support is exactly what the console needs to sell in the first place.
Thomas Robinson
just like the DS wasnt the successor of the GBA amirite
Ian Harris
this is the wrong strategy, nintendo will just cut its own profits down by claiming another 3ds might come out
also nobody used the 3d gimmick, let it die already nintendo you're obviously not avant garde anymore
Hunter Harris
Does anyone else think Switch might become one of the best consoles of all time? No gimmicks this time, strong marketing, possibly strong third party support, strong exclusives in the first year alone.
Matthew Hernandez
>Fire Emblem got confirmed for switch >has been a 3DS-only title for a few years now
it's coming, soon
Mason Parker
Pokemon was basically all but confirmed to be coming too at some point.
Luke Martin
>No gimmicks this time
Isaac Parker
The reason it's not a successor to the 3DS is that dual screen can't be emulated on the Switch, but every other Nintendo system can be emulated on it. They're going to release Virtual Console of every generation before except dual screen
Leo Thomas
Dude what delusional world do you live in? Strong third party support? No gimmicks? You need to see a psychologist ASAP
Noah Miller
I said possible, you fucking retard.
Anthony Price
They're waiting to see how we accept the Switch before they show their hands. If they put one in every home they can make it their go-to platform for home and mobile, because we love it and they listen. If it bombs, they can go ahead and make the 4DS, because that was always their plan and the Switch was never a handheld.
Companies don't compete with themselves. The Switch isn't their new handheld platform, until it is.
Daniel Martinez
>no gimmicks this time Does your autistic fanboyism not let you see what's in front of you? This console is another gimmick
Tyler Hill
But why would they start saying those kinds of things now? It seems like a self-fulfilling prophecy: Nintendo saying that they're considering a successor to the 3DS will make customers wary about buying a Switch.
Juan Martin
No, there isn't. The funny thing is that Microsoft and Sony went for gimmicks this time. It's fucking pathetic, really.
Daniel Cox
Holy shit you are retarded. I knew Nintendo boys were blind to anything Nintendo, but you take it to another level. I can't even begin on the gimmicks of this console.
Jaxson Davis
>where's the evidence of that? SMT Story of Seasons Fire Emblem Bomberman
All stuck to Nintendo's handhelds for 2 to 4 generations before Switch. Also the fact that its most defining feature was outrights stated to be inspired by the Game Boy during their reveal conference.
Henry Powell
>SMT >Fire Emblem
>stuck to Nintendo's handhelds for 2 to 4 generations before the switch
Connor Russell
But the gimmicks are now optional, dual screens, waggle, and a controler with a screen in it werent, they were the core experience.
Isaac Smith
Regardless, the Switch has the potential to be one of the greatest hacked handhelds of all time. The Nvidia Shield just didn't have quite enough power to really emulate at a high quality and because it runs PSP games like shit it's hardly better than a PSP.
Day 1 buying the Switch for Bomberman, Zelda, and Redout on the go. Plus I'm going to drop Gears of War when Splatoon comes out.
Levi Perez
Fire Emblem was one generation yes. My mistake. However between then and now, everything mainline has been on the DS and 3DS. Five games iirc not counting multiple versions.
SMT played around on PS2 and GBA before the DS arrived. Then Atlus moved everything that was not Persona to the DS. They didn't even touch the N64.
These were definitely fated to live and die on handhelds when it came to Nintendo consoles for the remainder of their lives on the market. I don't see what is so hard to read about that.
Sebastian Clark
There have been only four non-remake Fire Emblem games released since the GBA-era: Path of Radiance on the Gamecube, Radiant Dawn on the Wii, and Awakening and Fates on the 3DS. Wii U didn't get an FE game because it was a flop. "Console-style" FE games are not done.
Thomas Price
And the DS is not a continuation of the GBA >THIRD PILLAR
Parker Gonzalez
I doubt it'll ever be hacked since it doesn't have a web browser
Levi Evans
Remember how the DS replaced the GC too and there was no Wii? Oh wait... :(
