I actually prefer 3 to 1. Maybe because I played 1 relatively recently and didn't get to experience it in its time.

3 is the 'worst' by virtue of the other games being classics. But Max Payne 3 is still a great game.

2 was worse in every way except slightly improved graphics.

They're all great, but 2 has the worst bullet time and the story is just a self indulgent mess even by Remedy standards. I felt zero chemistry between Max and Mona, so their sex scene and relationship fell pretty flat for me. 1 and 3 feel closer in terms of the bullet time gameplay and Max's personality even though 3's characters are shit. I'd put 3 alongside 1 if not for the damn cutscene loading; the second half of the game is God-tier. All of this being said, 2 has the cleanest and most attractive graphics and the smoothest gameplay even if I prefer the euphoria shenanigans in 3. They're all flawed masterpieces.

2 has the best bullet time mechanics. Easy as shit, yes, but all of them are useful and fun because they're OP as shit. I don't know why 3 used the same one from 1.

fuck you Max Payne 3 is amazing, the writing is so perfect for an old grumpy Max that is jsut done with it.

The gamepaly is also leaps and bounds the best one.

Friendly reminder Max Payne 3 is the pleb filter of the series and only people with a minimal understanding of noir movies hate it

2nd was definitely the best, it improved everything over the first game. The 3rd one may as well not even exist, it's almost alternate reality/spinoff material.

While MP3 is great, the problem isn't the lack of noir elements, the problem is it lacks so much of what made the first two games special. The dream sequences, the spooky atmosphere, the TV shows etc. It was more like a David Lynch film than just regular noir.

MP3 was not really a Max Payne game in my opinion.

Try playing the first half of Max Payne 3 while drinking and getting progressively more and more drunk with Max. It's actually really fucking immersive.

I can always understand any compliment to MP 3's gameplay as the game played pretty fucking well compared to the first 2 games but anyone who compliment's the fat retarded bald shit for brains that impersonated Max Payne as anything remotely similar to the character of the 2 games is almost as stupid as he is.
