Wait, that's it? I've finished it? For real? That's everything?

No, you've missed the actual ending.
Seeing as he's not the true final boss, probably not.
Also, there's at least three optional bosses/areas you may have missed.
I'm confused.
I haven't been to Cainhurst Castle. I've seen countless names of bosses I haven't encountered. What the actual fuck? Is it possible to have missed half the fucking game on my first playthrough?
Yes. Maybe not half but there's a huge chunk of stuff to miss. You need to backtrack and explore after doing stuff.
There are 17 bosses in the base game (excluding Chalice Dungeons), I think you only need to kill 8 bosses to end the game.
yes
*excluding Chalice Dungeons and DLC
I just beat Gehrman and now I'm on New Game +, no way to backtrack.
What the actual fucking shit, why would they make so many optional fucking areas? It doesn't make sense.
I've heard the DLC is a bitch to try on NG+, should I just make a new character?
I beat the dlc for the first time on ng+, you can do it.
Justo keep playing and do the chalices, you'll be fine.
DLC definitely has the hardest bosses
nha, it's a bitch because there's new ennemies and places
play new game plus, parry more
do some chalice dungeons to buff your weapon with material
dlc will be a breeze
Did you find the Upper Cathedral Ward or Nightmare Frontier? Those can be easy to miss, and you also evidently missed out on the secret boss/ending.
Hint: you missed something in Yar Har Har.
NG+ in general is a bitch unless you grind Chalice Dungeons for blood gems.
Why the fuck would you kill the very obviously final bossfight when theres areas you haven't explored?
All Soulslike games encourage exploration? Your fault for being a simple minded sheep that only follows the given path.
To be fair, BB's secret areas were genuinely tricky to find, I don't hold that over him. It's not a matter of refusing to explore an area, it's having no idea you missed some super vague item that you have to access by jumping down a barely visible ledge while getting assaulted by respawning enemies and carpet bombed by a spider.
>I haven't been to Cainhurst Castle. I've seen countless names of bosses I haven't encountered
And yet you still chose to fight and kill the final boss of the game knowing all this, instead of going around exploring.
>What the actual fucking shit, why would they make so many optional fucking areas? It doesn't make sense.
Stop playing this game right now, you are not worthy. Fucking Gen Z plebs smdh.
Honestly I had no idea Gehrman would be the final boss, shit changes all the time in Bloodborne, I thought he'd be just another obstacle to progress the game.
When I beat him I expected the eldritch abomination to lift me up to the moon and take me to fight lil Cthulhus and get Arcane Weapons, of which I've found none during my playthrough.
I mean DaS 1&2 and DeS just kept going on and on and on, they were easily double the games this one is.
well to be fair you trigger ng+ manually in dark souls, he probably didnt expect it to end just like that
I recommend starting another run, and really exploring EVERYWHERE. There's some shit in this game I didn't find until NG+3.
Be thorough and keep a sharp eye out for little alcoves hidden away (ESPECIALLY in the forest hint hint nudge nudge) and look for breakable props.
You really don't get the full BB experience until you begin discovering crazy shit like this later on.
No, you literally missed one boss by not using umbilical cords. I missed it because i intuitively didnt think you were meant to eat the umbilical cords.
Yes, because you only played half the game. Pay more attention, explore more, enjoy yourself
what no you don't? In the original Dark Souls you kill Gwyn and then you have no choice but to start ng+ by picking 1 of 2 endings
he's probably talking about dark souls 2 and 3
The umbilical cords are a stupid fucking system. The game establishes that some items are better to hold onto than use for immediate gain, something you would definitely think applies to holding onto god's umbilical cord. I only used them because i searched it up.
my bad, 2 and 3 do it, thought it was the same in 1
Will do friend. I'm just so fucking disappointed. At the end of all other Souls games you get a real feeling that you're on the final stretch and you've been on a huge journey. Like finding Gwyn after walking all the way through the Kiln or dropping through the Nexus and finally seeing the Old One in DeS.
Goddammit.
>know that there is a locked door in the workshop tower
>see glowing item in yahar'gul locked in a cell
>unable to find my way in at the time, decide to move on and check back later
>at the end of the game, try to think of optional things I may have missed
>remember locked door and closed off item
>go back and explore carefully, find my way to the item
>it's the key to the locked door in the tower
>have fun with new optional area
sheeeit man how did I figure that out you clearly need like 180 IQ to do that
And even if I had forgotten, I would have discovered it again in NG+ and that time been determined to find my way to it immediately. In fact I forgot to check the cave in forbidden woods that leads to iosefka on my first playthrough so I ended up discovering it in NG+ instead. This is intentional design, it makes the game even more memorable and special when you find whole new hidden/optional areas in repeat playthroughs. You can't get everything a game offers from just one playthrough, unless you're a fucking fag and look shit up or use guides, in that case you're just ruining it for yourself and missing the point.
There are some locations you probably won't be able to find without a guide. I highly suggest you use one just to get yourself on the right track for Cainhurst Castle, Upper Cathedral Ward and the Nightmare Frontier
I was frustrated too at the end of Bloodborne by how much content I had missed, but the game honestly shines on repeat playthroughs. Mix it up, start a new build and don't forget the DLC.
oh and make sure you fulfill the requirements for the true ending boss
Most of the boss fights are optional.
Cleric Beast
Blood-starved Beast
The Witch of Hemwick
Darkbeast Paarl
Amygdala
Martyr Logarius
Celestial Emissary
brietas, Daughter of the Cosmos
And all the Chalice bosses.
Agree, its an excellent game but leaving the story so environmental means it loses any strong sense of progression. Especially the "bad" ending where you become the Moon's puppet in perpetuating the hunt. It all passes very quickly, but the story is brilliant so its a bit of a misfire.
That is the most grievous instance, seen as the upper cathedral ward is such a hugely interesting area important to the story with new bosses. Cainhurst is understandable seen as its not directly important.
This.
Although, once you think about it (after not having used them) it does make sense to consume then so you can get eyes like every other thirsty mofo.
But even then, it's a leap that isn't entirely obvious.
Yeah, but i dont think it ever suggested that willem or the others ate the cords to gain eyes. Its probably the only part of the game where i thought it was just badly done.
Game can also be bad for npc interaction. I spent the game repeatedly going back to windows and npcs to check and nothing will change. Then if you miss one particular time you lose all their quest.
Hence i ended up with eileen coming to kill me out of the blue when i had never used any beast pellets and had massive amounts of insight.
Yeah that is true. You see spines and eyes being stored in jars I think. Another indicator that they need to be stored.
Yeah, no you're right. Beyond somehow knowing you have to have a certain number of spines from missable areas/events, you also have to consume them too.
I think it's a stretch calling the Hemwick witches optional, given they're the key to a major gameplay aspect, the rune system
well it does say "use to gain insight and, so they say, eyes on the inside"
it was designed to be another word of mouth thing rewarding players with intuitiveness
BB SUCKS
Best boss fight music?
For me it's either Ebrietas' or Gehrman's themes
Honestly the "bad" ending where you defeat Gherman and a guy whose clearly the final boss oneshots you feels like you're intended to see that ending and seek out the truth of all the secrets. It rings very true to the themes of the game.
You can complete the game without fighting them, so they're optional. Don't mince words.
Gehrman main game, ludwig dlc
Well like I said, it didn't take a huge leap of the imagination to find my way to it, it was pretty straightforward. And I don't think what it adds to the lore matters much. You wouldn't understand it on your first playthrough regardless of having went there or not. It's just more fuel for the lore deciphering fetishists. The same can be said for Cainhurst, which can be argued to be more or less vague. There aren't many crossings in Hemwick, the only problem is you might just pass it because the exact area you have to stand in for the cutscene to trigger (right by the lamp-post iirc) is rather small.
There is one note in the Lecture Hall that says "Three third cords." That's basically your only hint but one might figure that after having found 3 of them, and then seeing that note, they'll try to just consume them because they haven't found any other use for them, and voila. Again this is a thing that's intentionally designed to be discovered after more than 1 playthrough. People gotta stop bitching about not being able to find everything immediately, or assuming that they'd never find out because it seemed too obscure to you at the time.
When the chorus kicks in as Ludwig becomes the holy blade, that's the exact best moment for the music in the game
That will be Living Failures hands off.
Mah nigga Laurence. youtube.com
Shame he's a shitty boss but god that theme is amazing.
How long until you actually get a new weapon? I've been using the cane got in the beginning for ages.
I think there's a difference between skippable and optional. Bosses like ebrietas, amygdala, martyr Logarius and such are optional, they are fairly hidden and don't give you any key items, just access to hidden dungeons/equips. BSB and the witches, on the other hand, are in places which you're pretty much guaranteed to wander into and have no requirements to fulfill so you can access it
>NG+ in general is bitch unless you grind Chalice Dungeons for blood gems
Are you literally high bro? I've just kept playing for all the three endings and even on NG+2 it was still fairly easy to do the main game as long as you know the boss mechanics.
I also actually did the DLC on NG+3. Maria and OoK were kind of hard on that, the rest of the bosses was doable.
Im not the same guy but youre reaching.
Skippable means they would be in your way to completing the main game. Fact is none of the bosses you mentioned are in your way at all and are still optional because you don't fight them to beat the game
You didnt have trouble with Ludwig?
Where are you now? You've probably missed a few. You can also just buy new ones if you found any badges.
Depends. You can unlock stuff like Ludwig's holy blade, rifle spear and such early on.
But since you went with the cane I'm guessing your build is at least partially skill focused? If so I'd recommend doing cainhurst as soon as you can (if you have some points in BT as well as skill). Same for the dlc, which have new weapons that scale solely through skill. Also look up how to kill Eileen the first time you meet her, otherwise you'll be stuck without a new skill weapon until the endgame
Yeah, I guess I'm reaching, but I think I've made my point. Witches feel a lot less optional than most other stuff on the list
Not enough eyes on the inside. Awooooo!
Nope, I think I got him the first try. His moves are highly telegraphed.
You buy them
>tfw 2000+ hours spent on BB and still not bored
Not any of the guy's who have responded to you lol
But you make a good point I think. Yeah you can call it what you want but they definitely are slightly different in how "optional" they are. Only by degrees though, as you're saying.
> tfw the DLC didnt download correctly and sony refused to refund or resupply and i refuse to pay again so will never play it.
I'm around level 25 or 30. I only just discovered the workshop apparently but I don't have a key to the room at the top of a tower. That's the last thing I remember. Don't think I met this Eileen yet.
What do you do? Help people out, chalice dungeons or just invading?
I love the game but I can't think of what to do after getting platinum.
You meet her while still in the first area, before the Cathedral Ward. No idea if she'll still be in her first location now, but look it up on YouTube and give it a try.
If you already found the tower then you already have the badge for Ludwig, check the bath shop. If your build isn't completely focused on one of two statuses yet you should be able to use it.
Don't worry about the door, the key for it is in one of the last areas of the game
Is it night time yet? Eileen will be outside Odeon Chapel (the door straight ahead of the lamp, then left next to the railings,) if it's night time. If it's still evening she's in central Yarnham but I don't remember exactly where. I think she's near the entrance to the sewers, where the cages of dogs are.
Make new builds to try different weapons. There are at least five major builds, not including odd things you can experiment with. Chalice dungeons aren't everyone's favorite, but you may enjoy it. Co-op and PvP are still very active. The end game isn't perfect, but its about as good as anything out there.
Laurence, that organ is pure fucking sex.
> tfw i thought bloodtinge would be useful in my first playthrough
> bosses literally decide whether they can be bothered taking damage from the cannon or not
All of the above. I made characters at a variety of level ranges (a couple low level characters, 4 different twinks, a few more characters with levels ranging up to bl98. This lets me essentially get whatever range of multiplayer activity I want with whatever weapons I want.
Lately I finally hit 666 vermin on one character, and 99 inisght via invading on my bl43 Arcane character
That sucks, TOH is amazing.
Bloodtinge is always rough at first. Personally I try to rush the DLC to either get the Bowblade or Bloodletter as quickly as possible.
Strength/Bloodtinge ended up being one of my favorite builds. Enough strength to use the Gatling Gun, then go 50 Bloodtinge. You wreck face with the Bloodletter and can use all sorts of heavy weaponry like the Church Cannon.
Five? I've done skill and Str+arc but that's it.
Interesting. Why such low levels? Is it more active?
You can't redownload? The fuck are you on about
Being at bl29 lets you get matched for coop with everyone below you. Once you hit level 30 and beyond, there is a minimum level that you can't coop with. I just stick to 29 for early game stuff.
But yeah I can say that from my experience going back playing DeS, DaS1 and DaS2, the early game remains consistently active for coop so I always like to make some characters just for that.
>the game establishes that some items are better to hold onto than use
Like what?
Actually its the opposite, as the game encourages to use items you find (like the pendant and tear stone) to convert them into gems, and to use cold dew for blood echoes.
Everything in the DLC has this "epic" orchestral feel, Ludwig and Orphan are the best fight musics though.
>It's never coming to PC
My favourite souls game but its a hassle to boot up my PS4
>>It's never coming to PC
Good, I don't want to play with a bunch of hackers like what happened with DaS1, 2, and 3.
I think that's definitely true. Maybe I'll make some lower level characters.
Go for it, its a blast and can make the DLC a real challenge. I'd recommend just meeting the minimum stat reqs for weapons (or any tools you want to use like BSE) and then dump the rest into Vit, since you'll have your health reduced in coop sessions.
I've had an absolute blast with the beast claws but they're kind of a hassle to get since they took out that glitch.
This. Literally what items? Genuinely curious.
Just call them missable instead.
