I started playing Dark Souls Oct 11, 2016. I wanted to role play this game as a knight for no other reason than I like the way knight armor looks. I realize that there are better defensive options. It seems to me that new players almost always tend to make a Giant Dad and I want to do something different. This build is what I have ended up with.
While learning this game, I realized that the Claymore has TWO thrust attacks: a one-handed thrust attack and a rolling two-handed thrust attack. So, whether I’m one-handing or two-handing my Claymore, the Leo Ring bonus damage would always be available to me. It occurred to me that the Leo Ring would go with my build nicely considering that I'm fast rolling in medium armor.
With Charcoal Pine Resin applied and the Leo Ring counter bonus triggered, my one-handed R2 thrust attack does 820 damage against the Cleric in the Darkroot Garden. My two-handed rolling thrust attack does 836 damage against him. The Leo Ring aside, stabbing the Cleric in the back one-handed yields 884 damage, a two-handed backstab yields 901 damage and Riposte is 1048 damage (I used the Cleric for testing because he heals himself). With the Green Blossom and the Grass Crest Shield regenerating my stamina, I rarely find myself unable to use my rolling thrust attack. It's just always there.
I've read in the forums that the contemporary quality build is 27/40 because of the two-handed bonus for strength, but I wanted to make certain that my one-handed thrust attack did as much damage as efficiently possible because the damage bonus granted by the Leo Ring is percentage based. Also, since my two-handed thrust attack requires rolling, I had to figure out a way to get my equipment burden below 25% so that I could fast roll without being too squishy because my vitality is so low.
So, my first build is finished. This is it. It's my Veteran Knight and I love it. >mmdks.com/8ijr
Fashion is good IMO and the Claymore is a god-tier weapon. Breddy gud overall.
Jace Nelson
Claymore was my favorite weapon in every Souls game. That thrust was too good.
It sounds like you had a lot of fun and that's great

Don't bully Skra.

Hi. My name is R4P3R and this is my first build.
I started playing Dark Souls Feb 20, 2016. I wanted to role play this game as a big guy for no other reason than I like the Giant armor looks. I realize that there are no better defensive options. It seems to me that new players almost always tend to make a Veteran Knight and I want to do something different.
While learning this game, I realized that the Zweihander has TWO overhead attacks: two-handed strong attack and a second two-handed strong attack. So, when I’m two-handing or zwei-handing my Zweihander, the Giant’s armor bonus poise would always be available to me. It occurred to me that the Havel’s ring would go with my build nicely considering that I'm fast rolling in Giant armor.
With Chaos Enhancement applied and the Giant armor poise bonus triggered, my zwei-handed R2 overhead attack does 1337 damage against the Cleric in the Darkroot Garden. My second two-handed overhead smash attack does 1488 damage against him. The Havel’s ring aside, my Black Flame pyromancy yields 884 damage and Riposte is 1778 damage (I used the Cleric for testing because he heals himself). With the Green Blossom and the Grass Crest Shield regenerating my stamina, I rarely find myself unable to use my overhead zwei-handed attack. It's just always there.
I've read in the forums that the contemporary quality build is 27/40 because of the two-handed bonus for strength, but I wanted to make certain that my weight allowed me to fast-roll while wielding the Giant’s armor, with the aid of Mask of the Father, Havel’s ring and Ring of Favor and Protection. Overhead zwei-handed smash did as much damage as efficiently possible because the damage bonus granted by the Chaos Enhancement is Humanity based. Also, since exploiting I-frames requires rolling, I had to figure out a way to get my equipment burden below 25% because my vitality is so high.
This is it. It's my Giant Dad and I love it. >mmdks.com/70d2

Rude.
Josiah Wilson
Manus? More like M'anus. Full of nothing but shit. He aint hard.
John Mitchell
Dark orbs would like a word with you. The amulet you get is worthless and at low sl any one of the poorly telegraphed moves is an insta-kill. Then half the time he'll just spam them endlessly when down to about 30% hp.
John Howard
>poorly telegraphed moves This is where you expose yourself as the shitter you are.
Angel Bell
Is this a new dank meme?
Dominic Reed
>The amulet you get is worthless how fucking shit can you be
Christopher Cook
I don't get the question, this is just my first build. I wanted to share with you all.
Kayden Kelly
>The amulet you get is worthless its never failed me?

I'm glad this post became a pasta. It's very nice.

The leo ring improves counter damage, it has nothing to do with thrusting or piercing, despite what the description says.
Use the fap ring, because havels/fap is the best possible thing you can use in 1 anyway

Are there actually people who would go to blighttown to begin with?

What is the most effective build for. NG+ PvE? Magic makes the game easy early on but I feel its almost essential for later on.

Hi. My name is goat_head and this is my first build.
I started playing Dark Souls Mar 2014. I wanted to roll through this game with a big fucking club for no other reason than I like the way the Great Club wrecks shit. I realize that there better offensive options. It seems to me that new players almost always tend to make a Giant Dad and I want to do something different. This build is what I have ended up with.
While learning this game, I realized that the Great Club has TWO jump attacks: a one-handed strong attack and a two-handed strong attack. So, whether I'm two-handing or one-handing my Great Club, the strong attack would always be useless to me. It occured to me that Power Within would go with my build nicely considering that I'm fast rolling in a mix of light and heavy armor.
With Sunlight Blade applied and the Power Within damage bonus triggered, literally all my attacks one shot. With the Green Blossom and the Grass Crest Shield regenerating my stamina, I rarefly find myself unable to use my rolling two-handed R1. It's just always there.
I've read in the forums that the contemporary quality build is 27/40 because of the two-handed bonus for strength, but I wanted to make certain that my one-handed attack did as much damage as efficiently possible because the damage bonus granted by Power Within is percentage based. Also, since my two-handed strong attack requires me to be retarded in order to use it, I had to figure out a way to give myself a concussion, effectively making me autistic, so that I could strong attack without wanting to kill myself.
So, my first build is finished. This is it. It's my Slam Jam and I love it. mmdks.com/8j1j

there's no point in playing das1 pvp. The only people who play now are complete abusers of the game.
You will just run into wolf ring fast rolling havelers who only circle strafe pivot backstab you. Any weapon that doesn't have amazing tracking and speed will lose, so pretty much only the falchion and maybe spears. Even then if they're good enough they will still bs you since you would need to hit them like 5 times to stagger them.
if they're even bigger dick then they will just pop a humanity in front of you and you can't deal enough poise damage fast enough to stagger them.

My giantdad could flip.

weird build my guy

I used to just go in with a unkillable naked hollow and run around the forest flipping two crossbows.
It was funny.

How did Oscar know he was going to lose his sanity? >I'll die soon, then lose my sanity >Regrettably, I have failed my mission, but perhaps you can keep the torch lit If his mission was to fulfill the undead prophecy and ring the bells of awakening, why is he giving up in the asylum? Why is he resigning himself to insanity? Where's his fucking motivation?

>all that unused oscar dialogue

Maybe you should git gud. Manus is really not a hard boss. Once you know how to identify his tells and dodge his attacks, you should never get hit from him ever again.
Dark Souls has bosses that read key inputs, have shitty hitboxes, lingering damage windows, abysmal collision detection or are highly dependant on RNG. Manus isn't one of them.
I've completed NG+6 as SL1 and I've never picked up the pendant, ever.

im so annoyed by the cape on balder armor that didnt have its own physics like it did on the enemies that used the armor. THAT WAS THE COOL THING ABOUT IT. REEEE
