I'm considering buying this, it looks like a lot of fun but it also seems fairly expensive.
What are Sup Forums's thoughts on this game?
Thinking about the pc version if that matters.

Really fun with friends. but is repetitive.
Wait for a sale if you aren't confident.
Where is it expensive? I just picked it up for seventeen dollars at a gamestop yesterday
I don't have any friends to play it with, i'm fine with repetitive, I play arpg games.
I kind of want to wait for a sale but it's a new game so the discount won't be that big.
Can someone who has the game tell me about the end game?
£30 on steam. Not sure if I want to pay almost full game price.
Fun with friends
Absolute bore without
Not a game that lasts long unless you are an autist
Wait for the new game
The base game has 80+ missions. Multiplayer has another 10 final missions.
Each mission has 4 difficulty settings.
You can choose 4 different classes - ranger is your standard run and gun guy, air raider is a support class, calls in giant mechs and airstrikes, wing diver flies, fencer can dual wield weapons and dash cancel across the map.
There are over 800 weapons, dived between the classes.
Game has some funny radio chatter.
It's really simple, but stupidly fun if like to mindlessly exterminate giant insects.
You can also sing with your teammates, online AND offline

>western release yet to be confirmed
>pc release yet to be confirmed, will probably be delayed
I ain't buying a ps4 for that shit so no.
Oh, right. You just said you wanted it for PC. I can't say much about it then.
>thoughts on this game
GIANT
FUCKING
SPIDERS
kill bugs, collect weapons. that's basically it. the missions get crazier and crazier though so it stays pretty fun even in single player.
I got a ps4, how do you dash cancel? I didn't see that in the instruction booklet, the control that tells you how to dash that is. I know someone said you gotta pull up your shield but that's all I know.
How -do- your weapons level up anyway?
I don't know about the first part but I don't think you can level up weapons, you need to get a higher level drop from a mission.
Worth 20 quid if you're playing solo Ranger just for the man-on-the-ground mid apocalypse feel, great fun. Worth more for online and class interaction
>reflecting beams low hp atop a stationary Air Raider mech just to ensure he shoots down the target and ensures victory for the fallen players
TO SAVE OUR MOTHER EARTH FROM ANY ALIEN ATTACK
FROM VICIOUS GIANT INSECTS WHO HAVE ONCE AGAIN COME BACK
very friendly community, just join someone's game and do your thing and you'll be fine usually as long as you stick to normal/hard at first and don't go out your way to friendly fire
Online's kinda dwindling lately, but you can still find a room or just host your own. Just remember to enable chat.
That's good, i'm going to get it, thanks anons.
>Online's kinda dwindling lately,
>dwindling
OUR FORCES HAVE NOW DWINDLED AND WE PULL BACK TO REGROUP
Dash cancel is for fencers, you need to equip a shoulder mounted javelin and shoot that shit all day to cancel out your dash so you can gofast. Luckily it's got 200 shots in it so this is entirely sustainable against ground based enemies (air drones will wreck your shit though).
On the other hand, their shields can reflect projectiles back and the action to do so also cancels out the dash animation. Not as fast though and the low cooldown shields are also low durability so you need to "reload" them before you would javelins
protip: if you use the stretch ATATATA fist, shields are the better option since you can attack immediately with them after a reflect
This about sums it up
forgot muh pic
All it's missing is a building for the webbed guy to get caught on
I hope EDF 5 has better balancing. The best air Raider vehicles die in a couple hits on Inferno and are almost always slower than what's chasing you.
Oh aye you did say the control to dash. From what I remember fencer weapons have various alternative functions, guns slowly boost you up so you can get on rooftops and such and melee weapons boost you along the floor. There'll be a button for it
wing divers can fix that
Everybody knows wing divers can't do shit other than get caught
EDF!!!!
WE'LL UNLEASH ALL OUR FORCES, WE WON'T CUT THEM ANY SLACK
WE'LL SHOW YOU HOW STRONG WE REALLY ARE
>that shameful feel when an npc stuns an attacking enemy in your blindspot
I've sunk over 70 hours on the singleplayer alone and I don't regret any of it, or spending full price on it. It's some of the most cathartic and varied dumb fun I ever had. The core is simple, extremely straight-forward, but the presentation is stylish as fuck and there is so much content on display it's not even funny.
That said, after those 70 hours, I started to realize so many small nagging things that could be improved. The whole loot system has to be by far the worst aspect of the game: who ever thought it was a good idea to force player collect fucking crates to unlock progression items around the battlefield was clearly retarded, and pains me as hell to see that they are continuing this awful mechanic in the next game. Rangers movement is also terrible, with the lack of sprint and advantage of rolling making moving around a bit of a joke.
I also wish the missions were a little more detailed and complex, and had a little more logic and reactivity to them. A little more actual story coherence would also not go amiss.
But all of those things really only started nagging me after 60 hours of really, REALLY solid fun.
>that feel when you manage to keep an entire squad of NPCs alive through the entire mission and then end up singing with them after you win
That early spider mission where you can find squads of all classes is one of my favourites for this, end up with an army at the end and the last wave just gets obliterated
reminder that the panicked squad on the radio in the first drone mission is actually on the map and you could have saved them
>manage to break a mission intended sequence of events
>radio chatter doesnt change to reflect this
Pretty disappointing desu
>The whole loot system has to be by far the worst aspect of the game: who ever thought it was a good idea to force player collect fucking crates to unlock progression items around the battlefield was clearly retarded
That's why you either play fencer or bring one, they can accidentally collect half of it just by moving around
my friend was trying to convince me to get it, but it looks really repetitive and not that interesting, i dunno what's the appeal
it's dumb and fun
It's pure fun, looks a bit shit from the outside then you give it a go and realise you've been gradually lowering your standards for years. Aye other games are good enough but they're not regressing you into a child grinning at silly explosions and flying insect limbs fun
nah I'll just pirate
did the same and eventually bought it. not sure how things fare on the hamachi front for this but you might be able to get online without buying anyway
