No one besides desperate nintendrones begging the lord that you they get a legit game besides Zelda

Yup, actually looks great

Could be good. Basically a faster futuristic more in-depth Punch Out

It will be fun, and successful.

#like

U mad.

Punch Out is a puzzle game based on reaction. Nothing alike with this game other than they both have punching.

Anyway
Yeah looks like it could be a really fun arcade fighter

youtube.com/watch?v=M9GUOI5AXG4&t=295s

the character design looks brilliant. but it just looks like a glorified wii boxing. since i have amazon prime i can get it for cheap. so it wont be a ripoff.

Why are you people so desperate to hate on this game? Is it not cinematic enough?

>Nintendo doesn't make new IPs
>people call Nintendo shit for not making new IPs
>Nintendo makes a new IP
>people call Nintendo's new IP shit
Nintendo just can't win.

The more I see and hear about Arms, the more convinced I am that it might be a sleep hit.

They both have punching, dodging, and a camera view behind the player.

Need to see more to decide if it has enough depth to be worth $60.

Have they confirmed a story mode yet?

oh oh oh oh

ohh ohh ohh ohhh

OHHH OHHH OHHH OH OH OHHHHHH

The way you hold the controller's is super dumb, put it on the Wii and it'd prob be better

Yeah, I remember everyone on here laughing their asses off when Splatoon was first revealed. And that game turned out to be one of the most fun games of this generation.

So yeah, I'm mildy curious about ARMS.

I think ARMS looks good, but I don't think it's worth 70$...seems like it would get old really fucking fast.

It looks like an indie game or a Greenlight game that will get boring after a week. Like a novelty item.

The way you hold the controller's what?

The Wii is probably gonna end up having a negative influence on Nintendo games like this, even if ARMS has some real depth and its "good" most people will expect it to just be WAGGLAN shit.

People wanted a normal fucking console not more wagglan shit. Nintendo deserves all the shit they get for making a portable wii.

remember the doubt Sup Forums had about splatoon

>successful
lol

This is the equivalent of Sony making a VR game to sell VR. That being said, Nintendo can barely make good games anymore, even when they use brand power to sell.
Look at most of their recent releases, most were complete trash.

but the controllers are perfect for this dumb fuck

>And that game turned out to be one of the most fun games of this generation.
For kids and Nintendo fanboys that never played a shooter in their life maybe. Is that why most servers were dead a few months in?

Its a shallow TPS with short rounds, it has entry level appeal, but the depth of a kiddie pool. Anyone who has played a good shooter will get bored easily.

If Nintendo make another Splatoon, I'll be amazed.
It'd also be proof that Miyamoto needs shooting like Old yeller.
However it does seem to have similar cues from Splatoon that people were concerned about
>Bizarre artstyle and gameplay mechanics
>Genre Nintendo isn't too experienced in
>Online and Competitive focuses

>Obviously never played the game

it looks like a tech, albeit a fun tech demo

who cares

bring mack virtual on already. gundam ain't cutting it.

I own it.

Lo and behold, you don't have to use motion controls with Arms.

>yfw this game ends up really popular and gets smash style character reveals

>looks like a glorified wii boxing
>looks like
Then I don't think you looked very closely. It looks nothing like wii boxing except that they both involve boxing. Your fists have longer travel time, you can swap out your fists for different weapons, different characters not only have different stats but also special abilities (such as the black dude going invisible on dodge, or ribbon girl having four jumps without touching the ground), you can hold a button to charge attacks, there's super attacks that aren't even sure victory moves, you can do air dodges, there's different arenas with height differences and obstacles, and the ability to angle your punches at various points in their travel, and apparently even more characters and fists than the demo showed off.

the nintoddler damage control has begun

I think all you've looked at is the video that was shown during the presentation and nothing beyond that.

>motion controls are not required, but recommended
and my hype is gone

Why?
The controls actually look fucking great for once. Intuitive as shit.

punching with joycons is dumb. Literally Wii Boxing 2.0

That doesn't mean you played it.

>hype gone because you have the option to play either way
whiny fag

No it isn't.
Play the game before you spout your shit.

How many servers are there? Please tell

If motion controls are superior there's no point in using traditional ones.

It'll be fun. Idk if it'll be the next SF, but it'll be fun.

then you'd know that servers aren't dead and lots of people are still playing today

Waggleshit is always bad.

there is if you're an autistic retard who screams at motion controls

sixty nine thousand four hundred and twenty

>Elder Scrolls: Breath of the Wild
>Legit

I thought Splatoon looked like shit all the way up until I tried the beta, and now I'm insanely hooked.

I'm sure ARMS will be just as good.
Not something I'll buy at full price though.

I've played plenty of shooters. Most of them are the exact same shit, with a handful of standout ones here and there but ultimately they all operate on the same general wavelength.

Splatoon was about more than just the basic Turf War, which even that felt more interesting to me than just standard shooters. Having a goal other than just "shoot the dude" is instrumental in making an engaging game type to me. That's why Overwatch and Team Fortress 2 are so enjoyable.

Having movement and stealth mechanics that are directly linked with your actual ability to attack and defend beyond simply being able to move into position ended up changing the meaning of covering ground in more ways than just literally. By following behind someone and covering their tracks, you limit their ability to retreat, for instance.

It would be to your benefit to not confuse "shallow" with "simple." Something which is mechanically simple can still have unexpected strategic depth if made right, something Splatoon managed surprisingly well.

I would wager you hadn't played much of the ranked modes, for which each mode and each map had weapon types which could perform better or worse due to the mechanics of your goals.

If motion controls are more viable than traditional ones I just won't play it.

It's a neat idea, but they've already shot themselves in the foot with it.
>Play against your friends locally!
>But you also need 2 Cons per person!
>Console only comes with 2 and 2 additional ones are $70 apiece and no other game readily use 2 Cons w/o a body to hold them together, also only one per Console, $20-30 [I forget] for an additional controller body to put 2 Cons in to have a decent-sized controller for any other game

nice meme

Motion =/= waggle you invertebrate retard.

the devs are just recommending motion controls because they want to show off the gimmick

Wii boxing = waggle

>multiplayer games require more controllers
wow they really shot themselves in the foot with that one
the grip isn't even needed

Seems like a one trick pony with no gameplay depth to me.

In an arena shooter or something like that, there's more than one weapon, and so some depth. Not to mention headshots, respawning and shit like that.
In a fighting game, there's special attacks, combos, super attacks and shit like that.

To combine the two in a manner that uses some of the depth of each would have made a neat game. Something not entirely brilliant, but different and fun.

What they've made here is just a novelty. Motion controls and all. It'll.seem cool as fuck for a few weeks, then everyone will forget it exists. Well, everyone except the hardcore nintendofags who will try to lord it over the rest of us for some fucking reason. Oh right, because they have nothing but novelty games and kid games, and want to feel like they made a good choice...

ARMS =/= waggle
even most wii games punished you for just waggling

for most people, it's probably frustrating to see more deserving games get far less attention than some overpriced 60$ wii party boxing. what we've seen so far doesn't warrant all the fan art, daily threads, shilling, and community hype. like it or not, the hate is just as deserved as the hype

It's going to be the same as Pokkén.

It's gonna be hyped up because it looks cool but it's going to be shit.

Don't get hype.

ARMS =/= Wii Boxing you invertebrate retard.

They both have motion controls and they both have fists, but that is where the similarities end.

This is just as retarded as saying Terraria and Minecraft are the same shit.

It's not a meme. It's a sandbox game where you dig around looking for the shiniest cat turds you can find.

or its like Splatoon.
Good luck getting past B in Splatoon with traditional controls

but the game does have more weapons and more complex movement and combos. your post might have been a decent post if it didnt have the insecure console warring bullshit. do you need to say things like that to get replies or something?

It's going to be the same as Splatoon.

New IP shitposted by Sup Forums but ultimately a success with quite a fan following and continued support and interest.

Get hype.

Fun fact.

There is a controller setup where each player can use only one joycon each, but expect certain actions to be more difficult or otherwise limited.

using the joycon to punch = automatically shit

i got A- without using gyro
also anything is better than dual analog for shooters, that doesn't just apply to splatoon and """gimmicks"""

Gundam already does 3D arena fighter and does it better. Virtual On does 1v1 arena better as well

>Is that why most servers were dead a few months in?

Yeah those super dead servers which are still right now constantly filled with players. Its faster to find a fucking lobby on Splatoon then it is on overwatch for fucks sake.

This.

I have a sneaky suspicion that ARMS will get rave reviews.

yeah and this is another game with fun and varied gameplay so what's the problem

Post yfw you could't care less about the hate and you will be playing ARMS online with your folks at Sup Forums in a couple of months

Actually yeah to be perfectly honest I rolled my eyes at it and called it stupid when I was in the stream, me and my friend both laughed at how dumb it was after the stream but looking more into it, it actually looks like a lot of fucking fun, I'm starting to get more excited by it.

I'm not getting it day one of course but I'll probably end up getting it when its cheaper.

I'll punch the shit outta you buddy

Whoops, forgot to post pic

>to combine the two in a manner that uses some of the depth of each would have made a neat game

Well, that's good then. There is indeed more than one weapon. Each character has a choice of three fist types at least, with exclusive ones to each character to boot, and on top of that you can choose each fist's weapon individually.
There's charged attacks and super combos too, on top of grappling, dodges, air dodges, special abilities dependent on characters...

>consolewarring
I doubt "bringing up that the game exists and is good when people are unnecessarily brushing it off because they don't understand it as well as they think they do" counts as "lording over the rest of you", James.

I just honestly don't understand why anyone is excited for it. I never thought I'd think I'm too old to get it, but maybe I am.

I don't remember much doubt, I remember a ton of porn though

It looks fun? What other reason do you need to be excited abut a game?

Did you watch the Treehouse gameplay of it and then some of the gameplay recorded by journalists and such during the Switch events?

Cause that's what sold it to me. The bit during the main switch reveal presentation didn't.

They aren't 60$ shovelware

That's based on prior assumptions of prior boxing games which were configured differently, you unrepentant shitstain. This doesn't require that you jerk your arm or fist, although you can if you don't want to make the full motion, but even if you do make a significant motion, it doesn't need to be forceful to make it work. All you have to do is move your arm forward. All you need to do is turn your hand.

The Joycon's motion tech is more advanced than the original wiimote's, so going in expecting it to be the same shit is beyond retarded. Hell, it's more advanced than the wiimote+'s tech.

Couldnt that just mean they're just sticking the few players playing together, and that Overwatch servers are full?

What is it that makes those not shovelware, yet causes this to be?

>If I don't like it it's shovelware

>every small movement is registered as a punch
I'll pass on this one

...

Good thing you can play with traditional controls without issue. All your choice, shitposter

I don't give a shit about purely competitive games

Smash, this, MOBAs
I couldn't care less

The day single player games die is the day I stop playing games

>Good thing you can play with traditional controls
and be at a a disadvantage to everyone using motion controls.

Not every small movement, you fucking idiot. Why do you insist on twisting every little detail to mean the worst possible thing you can possibly make it out to?

Just because you CAN make small movements doesn't mean it will register "every small movement".

You're not. Motion controls is just what they advertise, both work 100%.

GIVE ME A VIRTUAL ON PORT NINTENDO.

LET ME PILOT WITH MY FUCKING JOYCONS

I'll believe it when the game comes out. If motion controls have a clear advantage over traditional controls I'm not going to play it.
