Where can I find the dq8 prepatched orchestra and uncensored version? I cant find it but I hear its already out

One of the biggest positives about DQ83DS is no more random encounters. This makes traveling easier and grinding metal slimes much less tedious.

Honestly, I can't understand the autism behind hating the 3DS version. If no one posted a comparison picture on the assets (trees, grass, general background), I wouldn't have known (and I played the PS2 version). If you have a hacked 3DS, then uncensoring the costumes and modding the orchestral music back everything else a non-issue.

>mfw all those Monsters that require Friends and/or Unobtainable Events
>mfw need several Captain Crows to acquire mostly everything without cheating

Google it or see if they are still giving it out on /HBG/

>Second to final dungeon in DQ7
>Want to play DQ8 but fear that I would never touch DQ7 again

Fuck me. I didn't play the PS1 version of 7 and I only heard of myths that it was a long game, but it is.

Marta Was the one that pissed me off the most there was NO reason we couldn't kill that fucker then and there

So I've asked a few times and got mixed as fuck answers or no answers, which game is the best for newcomers in the series?

3 5 8

>play DQM Joker
>it's inferior to Dragon Warrior Monsters
>play DQM Joker 2
>it's somehow even worse than DQM

I wish they had just stuck with sprites like pokemon did.

The based user who made it is a regular on /hbg/, go and lurk or ask nicely.

>tfw I've got it installed and ready to go
>tfw too many games

I think I found the correct version. found it on that site under Canzah or something.

What monsters are good to use in Rank B and above for the Monster Arena in 8? I have the Cyclops guy, the yellow horned big demon, and the pink winged demon and I made it to Rank B. Then I lost on the final Round of Rank B.

Is there a prepatched version of Terry's Wonderland that actually works? I tried one a week or so ago and it was stuck loading forever.

What's the best version of DQ3?

SNES is good, GBC has more bonus content but it's grindy and relies on you replaying the game several times.

>break into the DQ series with DQ1
>all that grinding

>It was way down my on my backlog, but wanted to play it to test the waters
>I've been hooked since and now trying to 100% because of how much I love this game.
Where has this game been on my life?

What version are you playing? The GBC port has reduced grinding.

I'm playing the NES version.

>level 12 right now
>saved the princess
>can't go west because i'll get buttfucked by the enemies there
>literally all i can do now is slowly grind for several levels

I get that this is a dated game, but holy shit.

yeah dude i know everyone says to play the series in chronological order but you seriously don't have to put yourself through the nes versions of 1/2

on the ps2

That game was fucking ridiculous. All the rare monsters required 20+ monsters and hoops to jump through before you got them.

Yeah, the NES version is definitely like that. I'd highly recommend swapping over to the GBC version. If you do keep playing the NES one, I'd recommend at least swapping over to GBC for DQ2. And also keeping a guide handy for when you have to find the Fire Seal

I enjoyed them for what they were, but I agree that DQM Joker was decent and DQM Joker 2 was okay at best. DWM 1 and 2 were both comfy as fuck and fun to play.

Play the GBC versions of 1 and 2. Much better. Also DQ 1 the Hero maxes out at level 30. The first one isn't that long so its not loss if you restart.

Quick, post your favorite monster.

Mumboh-jumboe

Just got Angelo and he feels so useless. Am i speccing him wrong?
Also I have 40 points of swords as hero and just got holy lance. Worth investing in spears?

...

Whipbird is a beast in Dragon Warrior Monsters. You can get him early on as well.

Come on now, just the fact that monsters have actual tiers makes Joker far better than GBC DQM

Bows and staves are your best option. Use him as a healer primarily
Not really at this point, I wish SE gave you some way of resetting your skill points.

this or mimics

I took him down swords. His lightning storm attack at the end is strong and good for clearing out regular mobs. His heals, buffs, and Kazing spell are good for later bosses.

Make sure to get executioner from Angus' axes branch and lightning thrust from Hero's spear branch. Those two will be needed to hunt metal slimes effectively later on.

What should I spec jessica into? Is whips still the best choice?

I have him as bow right now. When should I get to staves?
The other user said it's not worth it to go into spears now.

recommended level for dhoulmagus?

No you want to take the MC Hero down spears. At least later on. I would recommend doing swords and his courage branches. Boomerangs are good now but are pretty weak later.

...

I heard boomerangs die down so I didn't waste any on it. I know courage is recommended. I just got a level on him and saving the skill points. Undecided how I wanna spend them.

Fuck these guys in builder. Always coming into my town.

Just get him to get Oomph thats about it

...

Oh. I should also mention that you want to spend any skill seeds you find on the Hero MC. He gets fewer skill points than the rest of the group.

I love you Chen!

>go to the tree by Baccarat
>pick up an Yggdrasil Leaf
>make Yggdrasil dew
>pick up an Yggdrasil Leaf
>rinse and repeat
holy shit

>have to spend skill points perfectly or else postgame will be impossible and there's no way to reset them

Why do people praise DQ8 so much?

Even if you fuck up the skill point allocation you can still brute force the boss. It just takes a lot of grinding and healing.

>there's no way to reset them
>he doesn't know

What should I put my points into? I want to go spears for hero and axes for yangus, but what about angelo and jessica? Are whips or knives good?

Well if you just dump all your points into fisticuffs for all your characters, you won't have to worry about having a bad build.

youtube.com/watch?v=1B-ye5UUpJI

>play a bit with unpatched dq8
>music is a bit flat
>try getting the patched orchestra version
>ears are creaming
holy shit, what the fuck nintendo?

Boomerangs for Hero
Clubs for Yangus
Knives for Jessica
Fisticuffs for Angelo

bump

...

I dont remember much with my first ps2 playthrough, but I remember regretting boomerangs. I just wanted to breath of fire.

I beat him at 31 or something like that.

>party is 21-23
time to find some metal slimes

Alright, so I bought DQ8, but I only just learned about the censorship
I have CFW, but I don't want to download it AGAIN
How do I apply that patch?

You grinded way too much.

And you're at the intended level

Yeah I was underlevel for the longest, but then I learned the power that are metal slimes and farmed off of them until I was 30

...

You can't. Your fault for not doing any research.

KATHFUCKYOU

Fuck Leopold in Memoriam
That is all.

You can really do that? Near unlimited Yggdrasil Dews?

Ha GL with the rest of them in there after that

>You can't
NTR, you dumb son of a bitch.

Get the ntr patch

Max Staves for Kazing and Sex Appeal for free Multiheals. Whips should only be upgraded to TDL regardless of the nerf. Knives are a meme weapon and Jess isn't punching anything.

>bothering to grind just to beat Memorium

Dhoulmagus Memorium made me quit playing. From what I understand you need to be 99 just to stand a chance against the last boss anyway.

Dragon Quest 8 sucks. I'm never at the right level for bosses, and the crit bosses are the antithesis of fun. Games like this I'm reminded why mages in Dragon Quest suck early game.

>you need to be 99 just to stand a chance against the last boss anyway.
What the fuck are you supposed to train on, Metal Kings? I'm lvl 50 right now and this process is slow a shit

no seriously what do I do

>Get the ntr patch
So Angelo gets Medea instead? Who the fuck wants that cuck patch?

>being this fucking retarded

Guys some help for the skill allocation in DQ8 please. I don't want my retarded mind fuck me up for good since there are no reroll.

Actually Medea helps Jessica into her dress to marry Hero. She's the one that gets cucked

>But the Metal Slime didn't notice the party's presence!

>Metal Slug swiftly dodges the attack

...

So can I like put any status ailments on any of the bosses in 8 because they are all bullshit using Thwack and getting rid of my boosts? Even when I'm a high level and I have good armor and weapons the bosses still crit me to death.

I still love this stupid joke.

Now I got Maribel back but she's severely behind when it comes to jobs just like Aishe because she joined so late.

I'm at the third elemental shrine already and it looks like I might have to tackle the final boss without a full advanced party.
Gay.

...

What exactly do you want to know? As long as you don't spread points equally in all skills, you will be fine.

Like what should I put more point for each character? Currently I just put the point randomly and I am thinking to restart my game

>Hero
Courage and Swords or Spears
>Yangus
42 into fists, enough to get Heal from his personal, Axes
>Jessica
Staves and Sex Appeal
>Angelo
Bows and Staves

I'm not sure who I should be giving what seeds to.
Any suggestions? Dragon Quest 8.

Use seeds for alchemy

>putting points into fists

What then?

What do I get out of them?

>doesn't want thin air

Red's Blade Cascade (100 on Knives) with Liquid Metal Sword can make quick work of metal shitters.

You don't need a full advanced party to take on the final boss. Maxed out Intermediate classes should work fine.

You get rings which can be alchemised for even better stuff

Don't care too much about point placement.
Like one user said, as long as you max one weapon and the last tree, you'll be mostly fine.

Also you can grind skill seeds (though it's tedious) later on if you care enough to max something else.

Her dying was dumb for sure. We already killed a more powerful version of the faggot before. Twice even. Should have just bum rushed the fucker the moment she threw the powder.
