If you play a game on PC, you might see a hacker every hundred hours if you're lucky. If you play on console, maybe every two hundred. Where you get into trouble is when you try to play a game on a last gen console or something that has been out for a while, take CoD:WaW for example. On 360 and PS3, every match is filled with hackers and there's nothing anyone can do about it, on the PC version there are community servers with active admins who ban cheaters on sight.

In that way, I consider the amount of hackers on PC and console to be roughly equal. On PC you're more likely to see them in the newer games, and on console you're more likely to see them in older games.

Change servers, reporting is useless because you're not likely to run into that player again anyways unless it's a game with a small playerbase but then the devs probably don't even care at that point. If it becomes completely unavoidable due to mass exploitation then you simply have to let go of the game and play something else. RIP CoD WaW & RDR online.

In my total time on both, I've seen two hackers on each from my recollection, however one on console I wasn't playing at the time. On PC, it was just a minor inconvenience, on console, I or someone else ended up losing accounts with actual money paid into the game. All things considered, only seeing 4 hackers (3 only counting personal experience) is probably a miracle.

The console games were PS:O and World at War, PS:O was my experience and WoW was someone else's. He bought XBL gold just to play it online.
