Which one was the biggest disappointment?
Which one was the biggest disappointment?
1/9
MGSV because that's the only one I still expected a decent amount of quality from. also you can definitely see how much squandered potential there was.
Tie between mighty no 9 and no mans sky
Both unfinished garbage that took a bunch of people's money
Imo MN9 is worse since it was a Kickstarter and supposedly the backers still haven't received anything related to what they were supposed to
At least with NMS you knew it was shit as soon as reviews dropped and the inky people that actually bought it were drones
FO4 and MGSV are bad but have some sort of value I feel
All the other games are fine
This
Other M was the only thing that people had right to expect to be great that turned out to be shit
Mighty no9 and No mans sky everyone should have known theyd be shit from the start
The rest of those games arent terrible. theyre just not good
3. RIP Metroid.
Mighty No. 9 and No Man's Sky ended up being fucking nothing after all the hype, Resi 6 is just shit and Other M was so bad it killed a franchise
The rest are mostly good in their own right just flawed with some disappointing missed potential
Personally?
Probably Fallout 4. The only thing it had going for it was minor gameplay improvements from FO3 and NV, otherwise it was a definitively worse game.
The story was worse, the DLCs were worse, the voice acting/chat-wheel system was worse, etc.
I get that they had to put time/effort during development into the engine itself and making sure everything worked properly but god damn FO4 felt like a filler/placeholder title.
Every single DLC in FO3 (with the exception of Mothership Zeta maybe) was a blast. Every single DLC in NV was a blast.
The ONLY DLC in FO4 that wasn't completely fucking horrendous and an absolutely absurd waste of money was Far Harbor.
I expected 4 or 5 DLCs Far Harbor's size with the same level of care/quality. Instead we got just Far Harbor, some settlement building crap, a single robot questline coupled with robot building crap, and Bethesda's Apology to Fallout Fans who enjoy Bad Karma playthroughs: Nuka-World.
NUKA WORLD DOESN'T EVEN HAVE A PROPER FUCKING ENDING WRITTEN FOR IT UNLESS YOU ARE EVIL.
If you aren't doing a low karma playthrough (not sure why I'm referring to it as such since they eliminated that system in FO4) Nuka World's "story" consists of running from zone to zone killing every single NPC then leaving Nuka World.
>mighty no 9 and no mans sky
only excuse for being disappointed in these are not paying attention to the game updates and buying blindly.
especially NMS, how anyone thinks that a dev can make billions of worlds with infinite environments and wildlife and not have it be shallow as hell in every regard, is a fool at best.
>all other games are fine.
disgusting.
From most disappointing to less
No Man's Sky > Mighty 9 > Other M > MGSV > FFXV > Fallout 4 > SFV > Dark Souls 2 > RE6
I still think RE6 is better than 7
MGSV, nothing will top it.
Also, FFXV was alright. Maybe because I expected absolute dog shit, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I also severely underestimated Ray Chase's voice acting. He had some good lines as Noctis, but overall I found him boring to listen.
But goddamn, did he nail the Master of Masters. I have nothing but respect for the guy, he's really good. He needs to voice a villain.
All of them were doomed to fail from the beggining so none of them.
fallout 4 , the graphics are the worst i have ever seen , no matter the quality
Other M.
I don't understand the massive disappointment with No Man's Sky. Everything from the previews just made it look like Minecraft in space, why would you expect it to be anything else?
>Mighty No. 9 was expected to suck.
>Other M was untapped potential.
>Resi6 was expected to suck considering Crapcom was chasing the Gears of War crowd.
>No Man's Sky was expected to be dogshit considering anyone with a brain could tell Sean Murray was lying since he revealed it back in 2013.
>SF5 was too boring to be a disappointment.
>Dark Souls II isn't that big of a disappointment.
>Fallout 4 was expected to be dogshit to anyone who knew how shitty Bethesda still is to this day.
Honestly, it's between MGSV and FFXV for taking the coveted "Biggest Disappointment" title.
TPP. All the other games in the series are 9 or 10's. It was the missing link. The culmination of 25 years of games and storyline. The Metal Gear to surpass all Metal Gears.
And then all the cutscenes werw in the trailers and the ending in an unfinished video as an extra. It will never not hurt.
Personally, probably Dark Souls 2. Dark Souls was my favorite game of all time when it was released and it took me like thirty hours before realizing that 2 was just a bizzare, pale imitation. I expected NMS and Fallout 4 to be shit and MGSV is absolutely a 10/10
Haven't played the entire middle row or Other M. Street Fighter V is kinda take it or leave it, better than every NetherRealm game at least.

>why would you expect it to be anything else?
Because the devs said it would be a fuckton more, plus all the previews still looked a lot better than the game.
MGSV, easily. All of the others had signs that they would be disappointing leading up to release. MGSV's hype was off the charts until about a week before release when strategy guides started leaking the missions and ending. Even then, I didn't want to believe that it could be anything but vidya's savior.
No game will ever be as disappointing. Ever. And it's still pretty good.
>le dark souls 2 is bad meme
Disappointing=/=bad
I think what bothers me the most is the 'revisit' missions towards the end where you have to redo old missions with some difficulty gimmick added. It completely destroyed the story and immersion for me that I did not finish.
this. MGSV is the only game I couldnt tell was a heaping pile of garbage before release.
Dark Souls 2. Didn't expect anything good from the rest. Maybe MGSV too, but it was still fun despite its shortcomings.
MGSV and Dark Souls 2 were the only ones anyone had any expectations for. Maybe Other M could count too, but it's not in the same league.
Guys is Phantom Pain really that bad? It's the only mainline installment I have yet to play and I really have no desire to after all that I've heard.
=\
The mission structure what completley bonkers. One of the first missions is back up back down, which is hard as balls with equipment at that ñlow level, then onw of the last missions is extrscting 1 material container. There's no sense of progression, no rythim to the game. I love it and I'm 100%ing it for the 2nd time, but some decisions made are really baffling.
if you've come this far, I guess go for it. GZ is a better run. if you really just want to scratch the urge then buy it on sale and expect there to not only not tie in to the series in any meaningful way, but to leave much more open ended plot holes than any game before.
the gameplay overall is good, but it is horribly limited by how many missions are laid out in exactly the same way, some insultingly so.
probably SF5 since its the only game other then DS2 that i was hyped for and actually let down.. coming off how good SF4 was then you get this it was just baffling
i would of said FF15 if it was 7 years ago but i gave up on it and it looks so bad i totally skipped it , MGS5 i actually had a blast playing the open world and combat was top notch just the ending kinda fell apart
anyone who was hyped for no mans sky or was buying the BS they were spewing hyping this game deserves what they got
Fallout 4 because I was the most hyped and it did the least to live up to any expectations.
I'm still not fully over how bad it was.
I spent weeks making 50's music playlists on spotify and reading classic apocalyptic sci-fi in preparation for what I thought would be a game which would take the achievements of fallout 3 and build something really moving.
I got to 30 hours in when I accepted that it was bad. I kept telling myself that it was fun and that I was just tired or stressed or rushing things.
There was a moment where the railroad made a big deal about building a teleporter and a pure off-the-shelf blaxploitation character told me that I would have to gather materials for it despite that being most of the game and extremely dull.
I got to the institute and finally met the father. After the confrontation I turned the game off, put it back in it's box and haven't touched it since.
It sucked so bad in so many ways that I completely lost faith in Bethesda.
