Here user. Have a T-55 with a M18 turret.
>*blocks your path*
Great work Hans, now you stopped ze whole column.
How many WW2 tanks would it require to beat one modern tank?
Dang. Did some Soviets come across a Hellcat turret and think it'd be cool to stick it on a T-55?
I believe it was the Bosnians replacing a damaged turret with what they had.
Finest German engineering
>Older heavy tanks with steel armour were rendered obsolete by anti-tank guided missiles and high explosive anti-tank (HEAT) ammunition. The much more flexible missiles are effective at ranges beyond a tank gun's range, and sheer armour mass was no longer a guarantee of survivability against the largest HEAT warheads of tank guns or missiles.

>final drive had an estimated life of only 150 km
>you had to disassemble the front end of the tank to change it out

THINKING
I know the Israelis had success with their 'Super Shermans' armed with long 105mm guns.
But that is absolutely impossible to effectively load and fire. The Sherman Firefly (17lb gun) was a bitch to load and nearly impossible to see the fall of shot because of the dust kicked up when firing.
The 122mm would take longer to load (cramped turret, two piece ammo) and you wouldn't be able to see shit once the gunner fired.

the question is too complicated. if you're asking about penetration, there are many WWII era AP shells that would be unable to damage a modern MBT from any angle save for superficial damage. but all tanks have vulnerable points in their rear. if your definition of "tank" is loose, then an assault gun firing 152mm HE may be able to cause a mobility kill on a modern MBT.
M1A2 carries something like 40 rounds of 120mm ammo. So I'd say you'd need 41 WW2 tanks to win
Though if you're picking stuff from the early war with really thin armor, the M1 has a .50 cal and a few thousands rounds for it so we could be here all day.
The Tiger 1 tank was the best tankovy of the war.
...
I agree with this. On an individual basis the Tiger 1 was the best.
Only issue was the war was not fought on an individual basis so a lot of factors come into play, which is why the M4 Sherman is the best tank of the war.

Don't forget about crushing enemy tanks
Gaijin would make this cost $129.99
Flakpanther.
Do people even play multiplayer tank games anymore? WoT, WT, AW? I haven't seen a thread of any in ages.
Oh yeah. Good point. Though the one thing tanks from that era may be able to do is knock out the Abram's engine if they gt around it. That or knock out the optics as well, but the gunner has a backup sight built into the gun.

world of warships completely replaced WoT and WT for me. thinking about getting back into WT out of peer pressure but WoWS is just less grindy and was more balanced before 0.6.0

Don't worry. I brought plenty of grenades.

I play WoT and WoWS pretty often. I haven't touched WT in two years because I was tired of the bullshit "balance"
>Play T-34 or KV-1; Fight against tanks that yours was specifically designed to defeat
>Play Tiger or Panther: Fight against vehicles that were designed specifically to defeat yours
Then there were the broken flight models and rankings in the air that just made playing anything but the USSR, UK, or Japan a waste of time. As well as the most asinine grinding system I have ever encountered, having to gain XP for a fire extinguisher and repair parts.
I'm surprise those fucks didn't make you grind for fuel and have to pay to re-stock it after each battle.

I bet you think that your chinese cartoons and painted horses are superior.
...
Wrong.
T-34s are garbage aside from the sloped armor (which stopped being as effective from 1942 onwards) and its ease of manufacturing. It as unreliable and an absolutely misery for the crew that would have to fix it, if they could, and the layout led to the crew having to work against their own tank to do well.
T-34s were good for numbers and nothing more. The conflicts where the T-34 and Sherman faced each other, such as Korea and numerous Arab-Israeli wars, proved the to be in the M4's favor. With consistent results like that it's clear it was not purely due to crews.

what are some good tank games
I barely play WoT anymore, I'm not earning credits by playing T8 heavies so I have to choose between playing to have fun or playing to grind creds.
FAGOT!

If you're genuinely interested in this, check out this lecture on tank production in World War 2. It really highlights how the Germans, Soviets and Americans differed in how they designed and built tanks.
The quick summary though is that the Americans and Soviets went in for mass manufacturing, basing their factories around the assembly line method pioneered in US car factories. Both sides pick a standard set of chassis then make ALL their armoured vehicles to use one of those few chassis. That way, they can constantly upgrade them when needed and keep production cheap and fast.
The Germans don't go in for mass manufacture. Instead, they want quality over quantity. Instead of assembly lines, they have workshops that are similar to those used today to produce luxury yachts. Each tank is individualized, and instead of standardized parts, they instead have thousands of modifications done, each of which means the next vehicle rolling down the line after the one you just finished will be slightly different. It means you get all the little engineering niggles and quirks you get when you don't have standardized production.
But seriously, if you want to hear it explained much better than that, watch the video. It's only around 25 minutes long and well worth the watch.
>french ass
mmmmmmmmm
understandable. I've been doing well recently and unlocking multiple high tier vehicles so I've been playing tanks I enjoy and know I can make credits on.
This stuff comes in waves where I'll play a game a lot until I get tired/fed up and go on to another. Then the process repeats until I end up back at the original game.

Yea, that's why I was surprised the carrier in that picture was the Franklin.
Sounds interesting. Thanks for this.
Is there a carrier with a better history than the Enterprise?

Fun fact: the Japanese mistakenly believed they had sunk her 3 times during the war.

We effectively exhausted all topics until the next major updates.
Current sandbox changes are promising. In wots, reusable kits like wows will make the game more forgiving for brawling. I hope the credit prices will update for the changes.
As far as I know 4channers grew up out of the russian scan scheme. I still play WT planes once in a while and only because a friend pressures me into doing it.
