I had a lot of fun with it too user, I just wish it had Bathurst or a faux equivalent in the game

I've not played many racing games since Gran Turismo 2. How does Forza Horizon 3 compare? Do you play on console or PC, with or without wheel? Is it more arcade racing or sim racing? Are there many cars to collect? I'm interested in Volkswagen in particular

how about you play a real racing game?

I've only played Forza 4, but I've been meaning to check out the original Horizon.

I don't play many racers, but from what I understand it's kinda at a sweet spot between arcade and sim (leaning heavier towards arcade, but a lot of the stuff can be turned off). I play on Xbox with a basic controller, feels pretty good. The base game has 350 cars in it, haven't checked for any Volkswagens.

Like this one?

The original Horizon doesn't hold a candle to Horizon 3. This is the first game where it feels like it's truly figured out it's niche as an open world racer.

I unfortunately don't have a PC at the moment not a Xbone, but I'll consider Horizon 3 in the future.

Forza Horizon is honestly the online Xbox Gold free game thing whatever I spent a lot of time with.

They sure do have a lot of shit.

The DLC servers are shut down though, which makes it awkward when the game tries to shill you tokens on loading screens.

I wish they were still up, I'd drop a couple bucks for the Rally expansion.

Great game. Really love it.

...

Interesting story about that, they actually ported it to xbone and released it for free the month before they were losing the licenses for the cars. I thought that was a really nice thing to do.

not him but
>I've not played many racing games since Gran Turismo 2. How does Forza Horizon 3 compare?
Biggest difference is that it's open world, and it is very open, there aren't a lot of barriers on the roads for example. Then there's race events based on the roads in the world. Lots of rallying events as well.
>Do you play on console or PC, with or without wheel?
I play on PC with a controller
>Is it more arcade racing or sim racing?
It's really an in between. Put it this way, it's arcadey fun driving but realistic enough that you can believe that it's real. It's not like certain NFS games where you just think "well that wasn't physically possible". It has assists that you can turn on or off to make it lean more to one side than the other.
>Are there many cars to collect? I'm interested in Volkswagen in particular
Yes, there's almost 500 I think. No Volkswagens though, sorry.

Honestly the worst part about the game is the egregious amount of DLC and in game Ads for it, but I usually end up forgetting about it because of how substantial the base game is.

...

How well does it run on PC? Some of the Amazon reviews say it runs like shit but I know they're probably trying to play on shitty old Dells. It's only forty bucks right now and I kinda want to pick it up

>egregious amount of DLC
I think that's just racing games in general now, so much fucking DLC it kills me inside.

...

From what I understand, leave MSAA off and you should be good. Frame drops that occur on PC occur in the same areas that they do on PC, so there's some slight underlying engine issues. I generally play with my cousin, he has 12gb's of ram, an i7-4770, and a gtx 1070. It looks gorgeous and runs like butter on his setup.

Game was UNPLAYABLE at launch, so reviews are going to be pissed about that obviously. Now it runs decently I'd say. I have a 1060 and I can run it on ultra and it will be above 60 fps most of the time. There's certain spots on the map where it drops, and cockpit view runs better than chase cam, but overall it's not that bad. It crashes pretty frequently for me though, but mostly in the menus and not while driving.

Think I'll be able to max it out? I've had my eye on it for a bit but from what I hear it's not the best optimized game out there.

They've fixed it but it was pretty broken in terms of stutter for a long time.

Release on Windows 7 you fucking idiots

DEJA VU

Thanks guys

Get around 30 fps on a gtx 980 oc'd. Running details at max with a resolution of 3440x1440 and x2msaa.
It was a lot worse at launch but it's not stuttering like it used to. As long as your cpu isn't too bad you'll be fine, this game loves OC'd i5's/ stock i7's.

I've got a 3770k and an R290 and something crazy happened recently with the game (either drivers or an update in-game) and its running at 60fps on ultra or high 60fps @1440p so you should be fine. My shit's OC'd to 4.8 though.

It's good. But it doesn't click with me. I like customisation and this game does unfortunately lack in that department. I'm not saying it's shit. It's just not for me.

Can I use those Xbox Live money cards for the Windows 10 store?

I can feel that, I was a bit sad there wasn't much body customization, all of it is in the technical aspects of the cars.

Yeah, Xbox gift cards are pretty much general purpose Microsoft gift cards excluding subscription and website only purchases.

I dunno but it's a play anywhere game so you could just buy it on Xbox and play it on PC

Cool, maybe I'll pick this up.

So it DOES run fine then? I'm not doing anything crazy, just 1080p 60fps. Have a i5 3.3Ghz and a 1060.

I don't have a bone just a 360, could I buy from there?

The racing sim genre really needs to step it up with street car selection.
Thankfully Spaghetti Carbonara did that.

You could probably just go to the xbox store website
That's pretty much my setup here runs well enough

Alright sounds good thanks guys.

I recently got a One controller for my PC and I love it so looking forward to playing.

Xbox One games don't show up on the 360 market place.

>really hate windows 10
>but want a simcade with a single player campaign to play with muh wheel
emulated GT4's active over steer prevention even with all assists disabled and the wheel set to simulation mode is literally ruining any fun to be had

>pcars has shit physics and shit ffb
>assetto corsa has no racing value despite being the best actual driving game
>rf2 is just terrible looking and feeling
do I bite the bullet and install nsa 10?

im just sad that touge isnt a thing at all

>lots of action
>entertaining to the public
>duels lasts for about 5-7 minutes
>it has lots of stategy under the hood

its literally the KoF of racing sims

>assetto corsa has no racing value despite being the best actual driving game
hm?

I like racing games and driving, but I literally know jack shit about cars.

Meh Dirt Rally is pretty fun.

>do I bite the bullet and install nsa 10?
No.
You never do that for one game, considering all the problems with it and all the shit you will get with any older games.
Just don't.

I miss my g27. It had centering issues and instead of getting a replacement I opted for a refund.

I bought a wiiU with the refund fml

Just watched Initial D last week, will this game satisfy my need for mountain street drifting between amateurs? I only played Gran Turismo 3 before and git burned out on long circuit courses.

t500rs is pretty good, huge ass wheel too

I'd say Windows 10 isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be, but I chug Microsoft's dick on a daily basis and was legitimately excited when I could finally install the OS.

Need for speed has touge

Well there are a good bit of moutain/rainforest roads and a lot of sprint races. The Toyota Sprinter Trueno is also dirt cheap in the game.

online open lobbies are always empty and there's no basic shit like map rotation, server can only offer a finite number of cars (6 bmw's, 6 alfa's, 6 merceds for example) and ai is plain retarded

shame too because AC's physics model and ffb are the closest I get to emulating the feeling of my the sports cars I've owned and tracked

Eh, you could but there's other games that are probably better for that. Maybe NFS, Midnight Club, Tokyo Xtreme Racer or something

Any good racing games with a wide range of weather effects and maybe terrain deformation, as well as night time races?

>tfw I scored a Driving Force GT for 20 bucks on ebay
best day of my life

Metropolis street racer
Driveclub
Need for speed
Midnight club LA
The crew

>tfw no ae86

your mother. full of wet roads and rainy days and her massive girth definitely makes waves in the bed. EXCLUSIVELY night time races because good god you wouldnt want to actually be see the whale your spearing, cruelty to animals isnt nice

Driveclub has really good looking weather but isn't a very good game
The Dirt games are probably the best for the man vs. nature element, and Dirt 4 is coming out pretty soon
Don't know that I've seen terrain deformation in anything other than Spintires

hey if you want something better than custom leagues just get iracing

COOL VIBRATIONS

I'm also looking for something that lets me really understand and customize a car's mechanics, more simulation than arcade-y. I played NFS: Hot Pursuit a long time back, but while fun I wasn't really into that kind of racing game.

Thanks. I started up A-Spec on an emulator, but was running into problems with slow downs on certain tracks, plus dying a little with gentle tracks and flat roads.

Thanks senpai
Legit cunt

It's an ae86, don't worry.

in arcade games its okay, but im talking about sims, its a good way to introduce sims to normies, and its easy to make tournaments

youtube.com/watch?v=Zti5MHJAPac

Somehow Microsoft managed to distill everything that is fun about racing games and put it into one package. I didn't think it would be as great as it is.

I WANNA DANCE

Australia was the perfect choice

I think Sega Rally Revo had terrain deformation.

That and it's pretty fucking gorgeous gorgeous.

I recommend Dirt Rally.
It satisfied all of my initial D cravings.

All I want is an Initial D game. Not an arcade racer with an Initial D paint job, I mean a game where you actually have a home mountain to master, can be part of a local racing team, have constant chatter from the gallery and the driver you're racing against about their plans and techniques and hype, and of course watch your relationships slip through your fingers until it's just you and the mountain yet again.

>Rivals
>World and track Verticality
>Actual online lobbies
>Better event distribution and bigger map
I like Horizon 3 and all, but first one was the better game.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH
BABY BABY COME OOOOOOON

I kinda want to play this but I heard that is hard as balls to pirate, anyone did it?

>bored
>see this thread
>finally get around to start watching Initial D

Just watched ep1 of First Stage. Is there a point where it just becomes garbage?

Shut up and deliver the tofu you little shit.

Tokyo Extreme Racer Drift 2 is far and away the best single player touge game ever. It's a better Initial D game than any actual Initial D game

A bunta-clone dad secretly training you with delivery missions is fine, too.

I don't think it really becomes garbage (except the artstyle, that goes to shit and only slightly recovers in fifth stage) but it becomes weaker for sure. Enjoy the beginning because it's pretty much the best part.

Second Stage is the bottom of the series; it only gets better from there.

I feel like the bigger map in the first Horizon is severely undercut by all the walls around them.

>tfw no one to NANI!? at your sick drifting alone on the mountain

>that shitty AI, user interface, flawed gamepad support and lackluster career mode
>real racing game
Call it a sim if you want but it doesn't hold a candle to grand names like Forza or Gran Turismo, it's a joke in every department those games excel.

Agreed

>Gran Turismo
>not a joke
Never played Assetto Corsa and I am (or at least used to be) a big GT fan, but come on.

Downloaded Metropolis Street Racer today, I found it amusing you can select topless, soft top or hard top. The pause menu also had 4 FOV options, what a pleasant surprise. The only problem is the first 3 races so far are hot laps and it's not a very good way to start off your racing game. Also night time is absurdly dark and I could hardly see shit.

I fucking love FCs

Assetto is the closest you can get for control of a car. As long as you have a setup for it, it's fun.

>tfw started playing it recently and I can't drift for shit
still feels great though, I excpected much worse when I saw the scores it got
I know gaming journalists are mostly a bunch of retardos but still

FDs?

Wait, it's Ryosuke's car

Those are good too

Forget running on max can I run it at all?
r9 270x

Microsoft only listed recommended specs, not minimum, so no telling

Aren't there like 3 or 4 extreme racer games? I own Zero which was supposed to release on the DC I believe, but was ported onto the PS2 instead. Is 2 supposed to be the best?

Unlikely.

Just watch it, its good through out the series but the flavor changes slightly. What I mean by that is that on the 4th season they focus more on the racing.

Don't think you even have enough vram m8

The later season are not as good, but still worth watching.
