Well he's generally honest at least.

>Also says Has Been Heroes looks like a flash game
>Wants another F-Zero

YES

>Someone actually being honest about the Switch
>Instead of just shilling due to nostalgia or money

Thank you based Ashens.

>1, 2 Switch and ARMS are like tech demos
Is anyone really surprised by this shit?

>Play a demo
>Complain that it feels like a demo

Wow what a genius

>Predicts it will sell a lot at first, but then just die out
>Is generally not convinced in buying one

Well, that settles it.

Well he does mention that he didn't like the previous very much either so it's not really surprising he wouldn't like this one either. I've never been a big fan of 3D Zelda either, I always got bored pretty quickly. Loved Link's awakening though, for some reason.

I thought Arms looked really good.

>said demo costs £40 and people defend it

That's the problem

As someone who got to play the Switch, I generally agree with him.

>1, 2 Switch just has no appeal, especially for its ludicrous price
>ARMS feels more like a tech demo for a Wii era game, instead of a full fledged game

I do disagree with him on Zelda though. The world does feel empty, but Nintendo is still keeping a lot of things under wraps concerning towns and NPCs, so I expect it to be a bit more dense as the game continues. Also, I felt that Link moves around just fine. It does feel different than your typical 3D Zelda though. I also agree with him that the combat feels spot on. Much better than any 3D Zelda game before it.

Honestly, the only game that impressed me was Zelda, and that's practically the reason why I'm getting a Switch on launch. I'm hoping that will at least tide me over until Splatoon 2, and if not, well I've got a shit load of backlog on PC until then.

>e-celebs

ashens is a faggot

I think it *looks* fine but gameplay-wise it seems too gimmicky to really have long term appeal. I haven't played it though.

>The world does feel empty, but Nintendo is still keeping a lot of things under wraps concerning towns and NPCs

So he's judging based on what he played and you're judging based on fanfiction?

I haven't played the game myself so I can't judge the gameplay but I do find link's animations surprisingly jerky in the footage. Maybe they're still working on that though, and if they manage to get it to run at 60fps in the final release it'll probably help that.

What's gimmicky about it?

>They actually tought ARMS could get into EVO

Zelda IS empty though that is a fact I mean take one fucking look at any screenshot it is very bland we just have to hope the dungeons make up for it because it is definitely a barren overworld

>fanfiction

wot?

I'm just going by what Nintendo has been saying. If they're lying, then ok. I'm eating shit.

We won't know how dense the world will be until release, but I'm happy enough with the gameplay that I'm convinced to buy it. If it turns out to be shit, then I can just get a refund. No big deal.

And I didn't notice any jerkiness in the animations myself when I played it.

>talking shit about the only good channel on youtube.

Well it's motion control based, what's not gimmicky about that? Admittedly it looks more involved than your average Wii Sport game but I still can't imagine it having a super high skill ceiling unless they really managed to bring motion controls to an entire new level of precision and responsiveness.

I'm saying that he's only judging based on what he played and that's perfectly fine. I'm always very skeptical when game devs say that the end game is going to be much better than the demo. If it is why not make a better demo? You're just hurting your game.

But I guess we'll see for ourselves soon enough.

>ARMS feels more like a tech demo for a Wii era game, instead of a full fledged game
It literally is a demo, dude. They already confirmed it was a fraction of the full game.

>Well it's motion control based, what's not gimmicky about that?
You can use normal controls.

How do you anons feel about his opinions on BotW? I think he's the perfect middle ground with 0 bias to say how a game really is

At that, do you blokes enjoy when he goes through those boxes of old shit?

I sure as fuck do

at what point do you feel he puts his life on the line when he eats that old as fuck shit

I don't care for this guy

everyone thinks they are an expert and a critic now just because they've got a camera and a youtube account

When was the last time he's eaten something for his channel?

I'm more or less saying the game itself feels like it's nothing more than a tech demo.

I understand it is a demo, but if the entire game is going to play like that (which is what a demo portrays), then I don't see it having any lasting appeal. It's basically the Wii Sports boxing mini game with a couple of twists here and there.

It seems like it'll be fun to play at parties, but will probably sit collecting dust otherwise.

>This single opinion lines up with my ideas about the switch and confirms my beliefs, this is the one true opinion!!

>no bias
>is a bong

Nintendo never really went over well there. Though I'd say you'd be hard pressed to find a more fair limey.

He pretty much mirrors my opinions.

>Game world looks empty as fuck
>Gameplay looks fun as fuck, with a few things seeming slight off

And I mean, if you really think about it, most open world games have big empty open worlds. Even Skyrim feels pretty goddamn empty.

It looks fucking terrible, like a better looking version of those Wii boxing games but with an extra plane of movement.
Just how desperate are fanboys to talk up a tech demo?

>man that makes a living out of literally exaggerating his reaction to everything no matter if it's food, electronic, stupid toys or 1 pound crap
>we are supposed to take his opinion about anything seriously

Might as well ask youtubers what they think about scary games.

Wii boxing had no movement. Or mixups. Or strategy of any kind. Or differing attack types. Or more than one character.

i understand your side here, but even then im looking for honesty and a nice neutral point of view

my opinions havent been formed yet. usually im set on something but i cant seem to decide this time around

ill have to see how things play out

How do you know this game does if everyone who has actually played it says it feels like a tech demo akin to wii boxing?

It's clearly based around motion controls though and that's all they're demoing everywhere. I doubt non-motion controls will bring anything more to the table. You can emulate Wii bowling and play it with keyboard and mouse, it's still Wii bowling.

He's been doing it for longer than most and he's pretty knowledgeable, especially on older hardware. His channel is also not really videogame centric so he doesn't really feel pressured into reviewing games or pleasing the fanboys.

For instance his latest video is about the Lynx: youtube.com/watch?v=_oNkH6dwgus

It's a lot more in-depth than your average youtube e-celeb crap.

He's kind of the opposite of an over-reacting youtuber though.

How do you know everyone says that when you've watched 1 youtube video about it?

Because I watched people playing it and read what the devs said. Everything I said is fact. Try to prove any of it wrong.

Aren't they still demoing last year's E3 build though?

The build without towns and npcs save from the old man at the start.

>tutorial literally shows multipl characters, the ability to move and dodge freely, and shows off multiple types of weapons, attacks, and characters
>"durrrr, how u no it hab dat?"

I think they were until recently. Now there's this stable looking place with nps around and stuff

That's how he likes to think about himself but it's bullshit. For him everything tastes gross or rotten, every little imperfection is listed and every shitty toy is handled like it was some demonic artifact. It's embarrassing

But that's sort of the point, you don't want to listen to someone give a half arsed explanation of why something is shit. You want them to nitpick.

ashens has and always will be our guy

Based Ashens correct again

Honestly, I wouldn't mind a new Nintendo to have along with my PC but it's literally nogaems for the first year.

They should have pushed it back to Autumn release

>open video
>greeted by a shitty accent
>closed the tab

No he didn't

>tfw genuinely enjoy Ashen's movie
Am I retarded?

It's a lot better than the AVGN movie, that's for sure.

He didn't what?

Does he burn it?

Pirated DVD version is better

If anything bongs are the most unbiased since they didn't grow up with nintendo and thus have no nostalgia clouding their eyes.

Explain

Ashens is genuinely funny

>man that makes a living out of literally exaggerating his reaction to everything no matter if it's food, electronic, stupid toys or 1 pound crap
Are you sure you're talking about Ashens and not Dan? Dan will literally wretch at the thought of even looking at an egg.

The Chinese made a pirated copy of his movie that you could get online completely for free from his own channel in fact and he proceeded to review it with the Star Wars Episope 1 copy he had.

based ashens

...

Bongs are extremely biased towards Nintendo's handhelds though. Ashens has like 50 billion fucking Game Boy accessories

To be fair, practically everyone is.

REEEE WHO CARES WHAT THIS NOBODY SAYS ALL MY CLASSMATES ARE GOING TO LOVE ME WHEN I TURN UP TO A LECTURE WITH 1 2 SWITCH AND ZELDA WILL DEFINITELY LAST UNTIL MARIO COMES OUT

DELETE THIS

>1, 2 Switch doesn't come with the system
>Nintendo thinks anyone will buy it

Ashens is one of the few reviewers I trust, even if we have conflicting opinions.

The man isn't pressured into doing vidya reviews, so it feels so much more genuine than any hamfisted 10/10 GOTYOAY.

Surprising considering a big part of his channel is based on nostalgia.

Who?

He eats stuff, looks at dollar store stuff and reviews consoles at launch and older consoles sometimes.

Thought the OUYA was just a weird niche thing, didn't think the PS Vita was worth it, wanted people to wait and see if the Wii U would be worth it.

He's generally right in his launch reviews or at least I think so.

If Tr4sh and Pokken can, why not ARMS? If Nintendo wants it in bad enough it'll happen.

Hey I have a question for anyone here that actually tried the Switch: do I HAVE to buy the pro controller or is the grip fine too? I heard the grip is really better than it looks

>Says Zelda seems empty, and Link feels floaty

Well no shit, it's the same demo area as in E3. What did he expect?

Can't say anything about floatiness. Then again, he's the only one who I've heard claiming that: no other preview I've read mentions this.

Considering everyone who has played ARMS has really enjoyed it, yeah.

>clickbait
Fuck off

Thank you Chef Excellence

Who?

>eceleb shit
Oh fuck off

Has this guy really been reviewing garbage food and crappy toys and for 10 years?

No, he started with crappy portable game systems.

>Hey I have a question for anyone here that actually tried the Switch
I seem to be the only person on Sup Forums who has, the only difference is the d-pad.

If you want to play a lot of 2D games get a pro, otherwise its a waste of money

>Says ARMS is also nothing more than a tech demo

Is he familiar with fighting games? If I asked him to describe "okizeme" is would he be able to do that? If not, he's really not qualified to comment on whether arms is good.

You fucking retard.
>said demo
As in
>the demo in question

A demo is a demo. You can't say it's full

>ARMS
>Fighting game

It's a waggle party game, and that's all it'll ever be.

What the fuck has that got to do with anything?

I tried it at pax.
It's pretty good in the grip, only real issue is the lack of dpad, if you intend to play platformers then a pro controller would be pretty necessary but most people will be fine without it.

>waggle party game
You can use a normal controller

Define "party game"

But FIRST I need to discuss parallel universes

What ARMS have to do with fighting games?
And yes, he's good at SF at least.

>What ARMS have to do with fighting games?
Ah, ESL

It's a 3d rock paper scissors where you read the opponent and commit to a move that may beat certain moves and lose to others by assessing your opponent's patterns and attitude while trying to react to or predict mixups.

That's as street fighter as street fighter gets.

are you implying ARMS is going to have oki? I'm lmaoing at your life.

I can always trust Stuart.

We don't know if it has a knockdown state, but it's the best example of "show me you actually understand what a fighting game is" other then "tell me what footsies is" which is far too vague and time consuming.

Dude, it's got a total of 5 moves that are identical per character and you can change the fists in order to break the balance.
It's not a fighting game.

>those decade old olives taken from a ship wreck

>Arms should be 10 dollars or part of 1 2 Switch

Does he think the demo is the full game?

>Dude, it's got a total of 5 moves
Incorrect

Divekick was one of the most hardcore fighting games that existed and it had a total of one move shared among every character.

>demos play like demos

i guess he wears a suit because it makes him feel important

>0 bias
That's not really how he sounded with his opinion, user

Its the only launch exclusive. What else are people going to play?
