>Shigeru Miyamoto says that the internal studios over any Nintendo have now mastered how to use the graphically impressive Unreal Engine 4 video game engine. Mr. Miyamoto told investors that they could take a PC game and can quite easily port it to the Nintendo Switch. This is due to the Nvidia graphics technology inside the Switch console and its full support for both Unreal Engine and Unity.

“>That ease of software development has also been felt by Nintendoʼs internal developers,” Miyamoto told investors during a question-and-answer session in Kyoto. “Also, even though game software developers in the U.S. and E.U. are often said to have superior skills to their Japanese counterparts when it comes to software development techniques, Nintendoʼs software developers have mastered state-of-the-art technologies such as Unreal engine, and their skills can now be compared with those of Western developers. Our developers are more excited than ever to create software.”

“>For our previous game platforms, creating our own development tools was a high priority for us,” managing executive officer Shinya Takahashi told investors. “However, since the start of Nintendo Switch development we have been aiming to realize an environment in which a variety of different third-party developers are able to easily develop compatible software, such as by making it compatible with Unreal and Unity as well as our own development tools. As a result, even companies with only a few developers have already started making games for Nintendo Switch.”

haha hfird post!!

And?

wow

NINTENDO WON

SONYGGERS LOST

this is not news senpai. but yeah UE4 on switch is going to help a lot with the indie library

UE4 can build to a fucking phone. I'm not surprised.

Unreal Engine designed specifically for Nintendo Games.
Why did they take the first Unreal Engine and not the latest? Because Switch couldn't handle it?

i mean this is good, both are the most popular engines atm, more 3rd party supp yea

4 is the latest one dongleberry

The first unreal engine was made in the late 90s

it takes efforts to be this stupid. I won't even pretend it's on purpose for the sake of the smear campaign, you are just genuinely utterly retarded. the perfect specimen of what those false flag threads are trying to recruit and convert.

>Unreal 4
>On Nintendo's hardware.
>mfw those games will be throttled all to hell from the engine's potential.
Enjoy your 30fps@720p.

Ease of porting doesn't mean shit when their console's hardware is significantly weaker than their competitors and that porting games to their system will still be a hastle because of power differential

Why can't Nintendo just make a simple fucking console? These stupid shitty gimmicks built around antique hardware will only continue to alienate 3rd parties leaving Nintendo being the only one supporting their underpowered shit box again

Zelda only has to sell 2 million to break even.

AAA games have double/triple dev team and marketing budget.

Take a guess why Nintendo prefers to find cheap uses for hardware power.

nice, can't wait to see all nintendo games being made in Uncanny Engine 4

Because they're full of hipster minded manchild retards who go against the grain of the industry for no other reason than they believe themselves to be different and special even of it pisses off fans and alienates 3rd parties.

Sooo... Zelda PC soon?

While making money in a much more sustainable way. You think publishers are happy they're stuck selling 200 million dollar games for 60 bucks while Nintendo develops for a tenth the cost?

They use piss weak hardware because they know overzealous fanboys like yourself will immediately rush to their defense without question and will defend every single negative feature and shortcoming as if they're somehow good things.

>It's OK the Switch will get ignored by 3rd parties because of it's piss weak hardware, we have Zelda and Splatoon. Take THAT Sonyggers!!!

>screen is only 720p
>screen is small so you won´t see difference between 720p and 1080p
>30 fps while the fucking ps4 can´t maintain it

sounds pretty desu

I know Sup Forums memes on UE4 but for real, how good is it?

Its Unreal.

>This is what Nintendrones actually believe

Newsflah, not every publisher is EA or SE sinking obscene amounts into games and having ridiculous sales expectations for IPs that could never bring those numbers they want. You seems to have this vision of everyone in the industry bleeding money and Nintendo sitting in the background laughing while they rake in dosh, but that vision couldn't be firther from reality, Nintendo were the ones bleeding money this gen while big AAA publishers and devs laughed all the way to the bank while walking all over Nintendo like the industry doormat that they are

>it's at least X2 or heavily modified gtx 1060
Fuck bros. What do we do now that Nintendo actually put power in the Switch?

Sauce?>

Sup Forums has made me so jaded that i get upset when i see Epic as their highest setting too.

just.

It's the top thread on neogaf right now.

Yeah, look at the Wii or DS or 3DS. Oh wait...

ACTUAL GRAPHICS

Besides some aliasing on the lamp, I literally don't see a difference.

>b-but MUH OPEN WORLD

UE4 is a terrible engine for open world games. Maybe large maps, but using it for a full on open world game is just an exercise in frustration and optimization hell.

It's telling that one of the only open world games made in UE4 (ARK) still runs like hot dogshit despite being in development for almost 2 years.

UE4 has great open world features, ARK is just terribly poorly optimized

and there's some differences in texture quality, mesh quality and materials (look at the rug)

>Modified 1060
You're a fucking retard

By that logic a 1060 is a modified Titan

Finally. Why are Jap devs so goddamn stupid? They keep reinventing the wheel with Fox Engine this, or Luminous Studio that.

The rug looks mostly the same to me.

Even if it is a difference, it's slight. Like how some texture mods for Skyrim have 2K and 4K versions, but you can barely tell the difference most times.

Nice to see they're already making preparations for going 3rd party

the rug's material is 3D on the PS4/Xbone settings.

Looks 3D on the Switch settings as well.

Seriously, I'm not seeing a difference. The only difference I could spot was the aliasing on things like the lamp in the portable mode, which would make sense.

>is significantly weaker
>is about as good as XBONE
please, Eurogamer got BTFO long ago, Fox con leak is only good source so far

>reflections
>on the switch
I don't think so tim

Foxconn = 471 gflops or about 1/3rd as powerful as Xbone

If using engines like UE4 means cheaper & speedier development I think the rest of the industry should just use it. Not every single game needs it's own engine built from scratch, that's just retarded, leads to years of nogaems & publishers need to make impossible amounts of money to even make their money back let alone a profit.

Licensing engines is expensive. Japs resent having to give westerners a piece of the increasingly diminishing pie

UE4 is plastic garbage. It's the Michael Bay of all engines. Unoriginal Engine 4.

The only time when you should make your own engine is

>If the current engines out there don't have the features you want (which is very rare nowadays)
>You're somehow a programming god that can make an engine that is more optimized than every other engine for your own purposes (like what Mike Z did with his Z Engine)

If none of those apply, you'd be better off making your game in 2 years with an already established engine, instead of 5 years due to spending every day of those years working on your engine in tandem with your game.

>>You're somehow a programming god that can make an engine that is more optimized than every other engine for your own purposes
so, Nintendo

UE ran on mobile hardware for 5 years now, how is this news?

Yep.

I'm sure Nintendo won't be exclusively using UE4. It's probably more or less for the younger developers that are coming in.

And not only that, but since UE4's source is open to developers, we could very well see Nintendo improving on the engine and possibly sharing those back to the core engine itself.

Switch development in UE4 might be getting even better and easier over the years thanks to Nintendo.

these reflections are basically free on UE4. the higher quality planar ones aren't but noone expects them to work on switch/xbone/ps4

>tfw UE4 developer
>tfw Nintendo will be making Switch development fucking easy on UE4
>tfw I'll make all of my games only for PC and Switch, just to upset the Sonyggers on Sup Forums

Can't wait.

All the japs are slowly moving over to proprietary engines.

Now they need to adapt proprietary netcode.
What you see in their fighting games these days is fucking embarassing.

>tfw UE4 developer

No you are not.

>but that vision couldn't be firther from reality, Nintendo were the ones bleeding money this gen while big AAA publishers and devs laughed all the way to the bank while walking all over Nintendo like the industry doormat that they are

Unless you read that wrong, yes I am.

I'm currently working on a game in UE4.

"working" on a "game" you mean?

>Nintendo
>Programming gods.

You mean the same Nintendo that struggled with HD development on the console they built for themselves to make games for themselves while literally every other dveloper out there had mastered almost a decade ago on stock hardware

You drones just cannot be this retarded, I just refuse to believe it

>Nintendo that struggled with HD development
>all they did run and looked better than said masters did up to date
yes, they are programming gods

Oh shit, he posted an image saying I'm wrong. Guess I better kill myself out of shame.

Oh wait, he didn't actually prove me wrong at all and only showed massive mounds of Nintendautist salt being dead on

Yes, because excessive amounts of bloom somehow makes everything look better.

>Someone that is factually false is needs to be proven wrong

>wiiU games run at better resolution
>WiiU games has less bugs
>WiiU games had better FPS
>BUT NO THEY WERE WORST GAMES!!!

>Factually False
>The facts are only Nintendrone headcanon

You sure got me good.

The majority off Wii U games ran at 720p, hardly any better than the 360/PS3, bugs are debatable, and I will agree that most did run better than 360/PS3 games but the Wii U had a bit more headroom than either of those so it's understandable as to why

>>The facts are only Nintendrone headcanon
>The facts
Shitposter land sure must be fun

Nowhere in the article did they specifically say it was Unreal Engine ***4***. Just "Unreal Engine".

>Unreal Engine
>Latest Edition is 4
>The Switch can run UE4
It's not that fucking hard to figure out user

You're fucking stupid, you know that right?

>B-BUT NO user, THEY'RE TOTALLY USING UNREAL 1 BECAUSE IT'S NINTENDO AND THEY'RE SHIT!!!

That's how I expect him to reply.

So they are using Unreal Engine 2?
