I don't know what the deal is with people wanting a sci-fi Dark Souls game.
I've been playing the series since DeS, and it's always been really obvious that from the introduction cutscene, atmosphere, and gameplay that you're supposed to feel tiny, helpless, and unequipped with all the horrible shit that lurks ahead. Unless it's like Half-Life, where you are one person alone, barely surviving aliens/soldiers, with whatever is available, don't even bother. I know most of you are thinking of a WACKY, RADICAL anime-esque hack-and-slash, with big robots, blue laser swords, and cool rock music when you hear Dark Souls in space, instead of slow, brutal, and alien sci-fi.
Like its hard to bring dark souls formula to scifi. >abandoned spaceport >abandoned space station >city ruins >abandoned research lab Miyazaki can cook this up in two minutes during lunch break
Read Lovecraft. Read Eugene Thacker's In the Dust of this Planet. Understand that science fiction breeds cosmicism, fatalism, misanthropy and apatheism.
Understand that those themes resonate with Dark Souls, just as it did with Bloodborne.
I don't know if it's scifi, caveman or modern day setting all I know is that the medieval knights&sorcery setting is getting pretty stale for me.
Camden Nguyen
>I know most of you are thinking of a WACKY, RADICAL anime-esque hack-and-slash, with big robots, blue laser swords, and cool rock music when you hear Dark Souls in space, instead of slow, brutal, and alien sci-fi.
Since this is From I expect them to do a Bloodborne/Lovecraft/Giger Sci-Fi themed game. From does not go over the top anime shit.
Evan Bennett
About what?
Lucas Morales
>I know most of you are thinking of a WACKY, RADICAL anime-esque hack-and-slash, with big robots, blue laser swords, and cool rock music when you hear Dark Souls in space, instead of slow, brutal, and alien sci-fi.
No?
Adam Ward
>Lords of the Fallen devs >With recycled animations >And more level scaling
Gavin Baker
maybe dead space 1 and 2 on hardest difficulty ? try it you you already did not
Alexander Butler
>I know most of you are thinking of a WACKY, RADICAL anime-esque hack-and-slash, with big robots, blue laser swords, and cool rock music when you hear Dark Souls in space, instead of slow, brutal, and alien sci-fi.
No?
Tyler Cruz
Why is that worm eating a giant penis?
Brayden Perez
>No?
No?
Grayson Morales
Is it even fun?
Kayden Peterson
about teleglich, you dummy =)
Chase King
Why not?
David Peterson
Dead Space 1 is better than RE4. No meme. Dead Space 2 is a more fun but less scary Dead Space 1.
Dead Space 3 is meh.
James Phillips
oh yeah Scorn is coming out, you´ll get this meme idea anyway. i like how depressing the trailer was
Jackson Roberts
yes it is. dont be memed out of this game. its something that wont happen in next 5 years for sure
Kevin Harris

Dominic Bailey
>lords of the fallen dev Dropped
Aaron Garcia
>I know most of you are thinking of a WACKY, RADICAL anime-esque hack-and-slash, with big robots, blue laser swords, and cool rock music when you hear Dark Souls in space, instead of slow, brutal, and alien sci-fi. No?
Leo Martinez
Dead Space is fun. Mostly because decapitation combat is a good thing.
Colton Price
lords of the fallen may be generic western wow-esque stamp
but there is something satisfying in this game. simple slasher in spare time, 5-7$ game with millions of budget
why not? i got it for free on sub.
Benjamin Rivera
Wow, company you work for is secretly the big bad and oh no trump is evil, what a good story.
Liam King
You're not familiar with Giger's work?
Nolan Torres
I'd play it if I got it free but no way in hell am I ever buying this game no matter how how cheap
Michael Collins
it will be next "Soma"
hate to say it. nothing special
better play some DarkSeed if you want something sapecial
Jayden Lee
>be generic western wow-esque stamp But thats also wrong. Its fine. Its just not... good. Between poor design decisions, no variety in environments, a lot of shit weapon movesets.
Sebastian Gomez
>shit weapon movesets You didn't even get it.
Wyatt Williams
>Dead Space 1 is better than RE4. No meme.
I disagree. RE4 has much better pacing and story. Maybe if you're one of those autists who hates good games like The Last of Us you will think Dead Space is better because "the only things that matter are graphics and the controls!!!" or whatever it is you hate about great games. But for normal people RE4 is the better game.
Camden Ramirez
Some are fine. Then there is shit like the gigahammers 1H: Which doesn't exist, even if it had a ludricous requirement to even be wielded.
Levi Bell
he is dead now.
some hard drags in his life...
was a joy to watch his art but all of his art was some horrific nightmare fuel for himself
its not worth it i guess
Evan Evans
>From does not go over the top anime shit.
Well. Apart from Armored Core, Spriggan, Frame Gride, Evergrace, Forever Kingdom, Lost Kingdoms, Otog, Otogi 2, Murakumo, Enchanted Arms.
Hunter Reyes
FFFFUCK YOU'RE RIGHT
Benjamin Gray
re4 had some wacky-slocky moments for the sake of it, and it is not a so-called "good story"
leave it be. DeadSpace and RE4 are equally good.
James Bennett
...
Ryder Jones
have a (you) too
Grayson Rodriguez
No, I think of something like Blame! you faggot.
Xavier Clark
A WH40K setting would work really well. You'd be an unimportant chaos cultist and work your way to godhood.
Gavin Cruz
The major problem wasn't the generic setting or the copy pasted mechanics the problem was how floaty and slow combat was even compared to DaS1.
Elijah Reyes
...
Oliver Nguyen
Being in space, with planets all around emphasizing your insignificance would fit in perfectly with the souls feel. Hell, take the pistol concept from bloodborne and change it into blasters for partying, take boosting from armored core and apply it to dodging in low gravity, and take the sword play of souls and give it a laser cutter/space pick/light saber work over and there's your fucking game. Have guest appearances from BB aliums or something to stroke the lorefiends cocks. It would be easily doable.
Joseph Taylor
>Scifi Dark Souls
We all know how shitty ranged combat is in Dark Souls and now you want a game with only that?
>Hurr muh energy swords
So you dont want sci fi dark souls you want weeb sci fi dark souls
Benjamin Long
You could pull a dark souls huge environment with a derelict space station.
>The ruined residential district >The Religious Hub >The agroponics section >Engineering section
How would you implement combat in this? Sci-fi usually begs for high tech ranged weaponry, but soulsborne has it's mark in the difficult melee combat.
Thomas Thomas
I never got what was Giger's issue with sex, everything is tits and dicks and vaginas and assholes in his work, the most scary parts about said sexual things even.
Elijah Morales
>RE4 >story fack right off normalfag and RE4 story was crap
Juan Price
Star Wars is weeb now?
Or just. >oh no, I've crash landed on this planet, if only I had my sci-fi blaster. Oh well, I'm gonna grab this old sword lying here in this temple for protection instead.
Nolan Nguyen
That's exactly the point. Sex is supposed to be one of the main motivators to life (go forth and multiply), so he corrupts sex, transforming it into an aberration, but still manages to capture some semblance of eroticism in it.
Christian Foster
>spend your whole life painting nightmare fuel
Must've been a weird guy.
Jaxson Taylor
You could set it in a space station setting so there wouldn't be a lot of ranged weaponry available for fear of decompression. Or ammo scarcity/unreliable equipment making you unable to spam ranged weapons.
Blake Bell
Have space station be hub. Travel to planets via teleporters. Use DS2 area transition logic.
Would work well, and allow for more varying environments.
Levi Butler
This is a shit post. Not a shitpost, but a shit post. I think you're a moron.
What equivalence does The Last of Us share to Resident Evil 4 that Dead Space doesn't? If I said graphics mattered most, why would I be hating on The Last of Us? Who even mentioned that game?
If you compare the two, ignoring release dates, Dead Space feels better. How can you dispute it? Better environmental/enemy designs, more creative gameplay and weapons, better controls. More enemy variety. Equally as long. Equal replayability. Bosses are just as boring as each others. Both have the same amount of low points.
The only things Resident Evil 4 has above Dead Space are:
People just say Resident Evil 4 is better in this topic because it's more historic and nostalgic. If you put aside things as petty as whatever the fuck you mentioned in your post, they're JUST as good as each other, even if Dead Space was dedicated to being an improvement of the Resident Evil 4 formula and achieved it.
And absolutely no one is going to agree with you about Resident Evil 4 having a decent story. It was garbage. That's a curse of the franchise beyond the lore you read from notes.
Landon Jackson
Damn, that was a sick ass burn
Colton Murphy
I still want a blowjob from the alien queen.
Xavier Jenkins
Fun fact, the alien queen was actually designed by James Cameron, not Giger.
Gabriel Myers
It's called Dead Space my dude It's good
Jaxson Bell
>Sci-fi usually begs for high tech ranged weaponry Do something similar to Dune. Shields make ranged weaponry 'obsolete' in close encounters so melee weapons are utilized instead.
Or
Joshua Jackson
Problem would be combat imo. Seems to me hard to make a Souls game with guns feel as intimidating, which is why I think the guns Bloodborne are just for parrying.
Brandon Phillips
I heard HR Giger doesn't even like the second film very much.
Jeremiah Cooper
You didn't explain why SF souls would be bad at all. Since when SF can't be hopeless?
Cameron Richardson
Well. It is just a kinda just a mediocre action film to be fair.
I mean, Alien might not exactly be a scary movie these days but at least it has the excuse of more or less inventing a sub-genre and revolutionizing sci-fi.
Dominic Lopez
>40k game >not about muhreens
lmao good luck with that
Josiah Perez
>Make something that is suppose to be scary, its designed with a specific goal to unsettle people >Put into an action movie to die in droves, the design is not whats important, only that it is an alien and its something to shoot at I mean I like the movie, but Id be kindof annoyed at that too.
Grayson Anderson
The setting would work. Space marines wouldn't fit the game type. I'm not saying the game would be made. But obviously being a tiny ass chaos cultist amongst trillions upon trillions of others is the way to make a game like that.
Elijah Price
No reason blasters or some shit cant just be used for parrying. Sci Fi doesn't necessarily mean shooting. Sure throw in some lasers, but what about a space hammer, or some hydraulic shit. Maybe even have normal tools, but by killing bosses, instead of souls you get some alien bio material shit you can adapt to them with special transformations a la Bloodborne. Like "Ayylmao's Scrotum Hammer" or something.
Jace Gomez
Sadly this. GW will never do a 40k that's not jacking off their mascots. I'd love a game about being a cultist or even a guardsman stacked up against the damn-near impossible odds that 40k pits against normal humans but it'll never happen while marines are the best selling faction on the tabletop and the face of the franchise.
Nolan Price
Why? It's not like he designed the alien. Just the look of it.
Zachary Nguyen
Fire Warrior
Thomas Wright
Not him, but pretty much nobody remembers or played it so it's not like he's wrong.
Brody Richardson
Bloodborne is sci-fi
Elijah Howard
What?
Josiah Jackson
Weird-fiction Trust me, I'm a Shoggoth
Sebastian James
Sounds like das3 being some weird amalgamation of past games. It shouldn't just be a rehash desu.
Wyatt Jenkins
>But for normal people Where do you think you are?
Owen Miller
Dead Space 1 would be kind of what I'd expect from a Space Souls game. Slow, methodical, brutal.
John Turner
>Unless it's like Half-Life, where you are one person alone, barely surviving aliens/soldiers, with whatever is available, don't even bother.
That's exactly what most of us want, you tard. It would be perfect for moments like the picture you posted
Owen Robinson
Put it this way. From previously made a sci-fi King's Field game. I say that but it was retooled to be an atmospheric sci-fi horror thing, but that's the kind of place they could go with it.
Like, the Alien movies are sci-fi too ya know and that's sort of tone and setting would fit a Souls-esque game I'd say.
Bentley Bennett
I'd love to see the bosses for a acidic souls game should be very interesting as its not just knights in armor anymore, we'd get a lot of creatures like OP pic related.
Matthew Wilson
What are some good WACKY, RADICAL anime-esque hack-and-slash games with big robots, blue laser swords, and cool rock music then? Sounds like something I might like to play.
Michael Hernandez
FROM made a game you might like called Metal Wolf Chaos.
Asher King
Contra themed souls game when?
Charles Reed
Armored Core. Funnily enough also made by From.
Or Also there are Zone of the Enders made by Kojima Pro.
Ethan Garcia
Metal Gear Rising, but you've probably already played it.
Matthew Williams
I always thought a sci fi souls would be something like Angel's Egg.
Jason Reyes
A Souls game in the style of 'Speaker for the Dead' or 'Dune' might be interesting.
Jaxon Fisher
fuck yeah I love alien-fetus-asshole-foot-human-spider-woman
Levi Ross
Just kill your self, fuck. Do you actually take Sup Forums opinions seriously?
Tyler Brooks
Thanks, anons
Joshua Morgan
>not Space Nito
Lincoln Baker
Yes. Very. This is one of the last places on earth, where people give a shit about video games. Also I'm dead already.
