How does this compilation of games fair? I've been wanting to explore the Genesises library more and this game seems like it might be a decent start.

It's really good if you can get it cheap. Theres a lot of games that have to be unlocked, however.

It and the Sega Genesis Collection on PS2 are probably some of the better compilations.

If I recall correctly, the PS2 compilation has a couple games that aren't in the Ultimate Genesis Collection and vice versa.

It's okay.
Gunstar Heroes and Alien Soldier are missing tho

I really hate that cover.
Look at Sonic's feet.

No Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Some games have fucked emulation, like Sonic 2 and 3 special stages speed and SoR with enemies in sonic speed.
Better emulating them on pc or some other device.

For the classic Sonic, Sonic Jam is the only correct answer. As a collection it is the only one that feels exactly the same as the games on the genesis, plus bonus like spindash in Sonic1 or difficulty modes(which allows 3 rings in Sonic 2 last bosses for newbies). Also have Sonic & Knuckles lock-ons

Sega should find a way to port it, i'm sure they have the technology for a Saturn emulator; if they did and used it, it would open the way for alot of saturn shit to get re-released I supposed

Imagine microsoft announcing at E3 that select Sega CD, Saturn, Dreamcast, and Xbox games would become backwards compatible and purchasable online

What other compilations for the x360/ps3 and ps2/gc do you guys recommend? I know about Taito and that one with one of the Phantasy Star games but it was JP only

That collection is great.

Sega didn't make those games.

OP's has all of the Phantasy Stars.

No Revenge of Shinobi. So it's pretty flawed compared to the PS2 collection.

>Sega didn't make those games.
SEGA contracted Treasure to develop it, but Treasure doesn't retain the rights to it.

Just use an emulator.

look at the top of his head!

Why not just use Kega Fusion with a genesis/saturn controller and a USB adapter?

You could do a lot worse, but as other anons said, it is missing a lot of must-have games. Plus I personally hate playing retro games with a PS3/360 pad

It's got Ecco so you have the best Genesis game.

>The only achievement for it is "Talk to a Dolphin"

They knew modern audiences wouldn't be able to handle anything else.

If your into achievements its really good cause they are for the most part super easy. Probably better then the ps2 version for Co op since ps3 controllers are more common these days. If you were never around when the genesis was around like me it'll do imo. Emulation is better for quantity but ignore the emulator ppl if you just want a quick route to play games.

>if you just want a quick route to play games.
What do you mean by this?

"Double clicking is hard"

>implying I want to load down an already clogged harddrive with more folder paths and files

Some people strive to minimize the amount of shit floating around on their computers user

Show me on the doll where convenience hurt you

I'd recommend just using an emulator. If you can find it cheap it might be good to have it just for convenience, I suppose.
