Is this game even good?

is this game even good?

Its cozy and fun until the game RNG decides to starve/kill everybody.

Yes. It's fun until you 'beat' the game and realize that there's nothing else to do.

for about an hour when you start out, yeah. Then it turns into a number crunch game with very little content and not comfy at all

whast do you mean

Fucking this. And the fuckers don't bang enough to replace the dead ones.

Making a stable town is quite difficult. Most of the game is dealing with rapid growth or decline.

this games difficulty is overstated but it is very addictive at first. When I first started I played for like 14 hours straight and had a good time but after a while you reach end game and there really is nowhere to go from there aside from just expand. The game lacks any sort of aim really but if you can get it for a few bucks its worth your time.

solid 6/10. I wish it went somewhere further, even just higher-density, nicer-looking buildings for a bigger city feel.
mods do a passable job of this, and you still get a good 10-15 hours of play per map before it feels stale, but with only a few extra features it could've been fantastic instead of merely decent

your first town will fuck up because you'll see a huge surplus of food in year 2-3 and expand too fast, but other than that the difficulty isn't much to speak of

it's a bare bones village management game, but i like it. good game to chill out with if you're in the mood for that.

Somebody post the Space Base pasta. I miss it.

Mods help a bit. Adds variety until you realise you're just repeating yourself again and again.

The game never got any updates.

its amazing if you get comfy mods

Game has a good idea and great potential but it lacks of content.
By all means try it but don't expect to much on the long run

...

sort of. the dev never put out any patches that changed gameplay or visuals iirc, but he released a bunch of little updates that helped modders (a bit)
I don't think he promised more than that, and it wasn't in early access or anything, so fair enough I guess

>demar the farmer was crushed by a rock

...

I swear there was an edit if this in the last panel where the hills was filled with graves.

if you've played dwarf fortress it doesnt take long to git gud at this game. it suffers from being too easy or just grindy most of the time and has no content by itself. with Colonial Charter mod it adds a shittonne of extra buildings and tech trees n stuff but still just delays the inevitable.

It's pretty good for a title some college kid shat out for fun. I was hoping that someday it would turn into more of a castle sim but the dev stated pretty early on that he was going to finish what he had and move on.

on the other hand, unlike DF, if you chose to play a single game for more than 10 years, you'd get double-digit FPS

>some college kid
I don't think so, he's some sort of industry veteran who used to work on graphics engines for console games or something.

I was also wrong about him moving on. He's currently making mac and linux versions and making sure mods work on them all.

no, I think you were right, unless I badly misread that latest blog post of his. he's talking about making a new game and how he's going to make it easier on himself to port it to linux/mac as he goes along
