so is it really just a souls clone? i keep hearing and reading this but i really wanna try it since i liked team ninja games in the past and enjoy this kind of asian folklore. but all souls games i tried were boring as hell to me, with the slow ass combat and everything, felt like a chore to play.

It's literally Ninja Gaiden with random loot.
It's Souls without the atmosphere, level design, enemy design, and weapon design
I'm really regretting my purchase

The combat is much more in depth and more challenging than souls. Loot system is hella fun. It's overall better than Souls. Only level design is like Souls. How you walk around and 1 or 2 enemies you have to fight in different sections of the level. The game is good and a lot of people agree.

Combat system is 1000x better and more fun that Dark Souls.
Better controls too, for one they actually had brains to map the attacks to the face buttons instead of the fucking bumpers.

When it comes down to it user you really have to try it for yourself, youtube videos and second opinions can't measure up to 1st hand experience. Take Dragon Age Origins for example, when that game first came out it was pure fucking hype, but if you took a look at gameplay vids it looked like shit, now this is why distinct subtle and major preferences can mean so much, because when I rented it from family video and kept it I ended up loving the game due to the particular details to it, but that is my thing, lore, storytelling, plot development all is important to me.
Another PERFECT example of that is The Legacy of Kain/Soul Reaver series.
