People have shit taste.
Name one mecha game. There is very few.
fpbp
You're ass backwards; nobody shares your shit taste in nippon Transformers.
I think the industry convinced itself that there was no market for them in the same way they thought survival horror was old and busted.
Just wait for the AC6 reveal at e3
got a fucking problem bitch?
Fuckin when. I want that.
No, I'm just telling you how it is.
>nippon Transformers
TF was a japanese creation to boot you mong.
Atlas has at least two games coming out featuring him, though.
And one shitty F2P game already out, sadly MW5 is being developed by the same fucks that ruined MW:O.
And yet nobody cares.
Are there any good non-realistic mecha games?
E3 most likely
>Chromehounds 2 NEVER
Zone of the Enders. ZOE2 especially.
Armored Core SERIES, Mechwarrior SERIES, Zoe 1 and 2, Lost Planet 1 &2, Front Mission SEIRES, Xenogears, and the occasional Transformer and Gundam game. Theres not a few, there were plenty, but theres been a real short supply as of late.
But the other game is by the shadowrun guys, so that might me fun, r-right?
Half of them are super boring and it made people ignore the good ones
The gundam games fit this pretty nicely, especially that recent one, also with a bullet.
Chromehounds was such an underrated game. I spent so much time just customizing mechs
No PC ports.
You know it's true.
How do we feel like about pic related?
just play EDF 4.1 and play as air raider and fencer -- or just play it in general. it's literally the best game, like, ever, man
Because half the player base wants flippy magic ninja robots and the other half wants rompy stompy tanky robots.
There's very little overlap.
No one has a WiiU
I thought it was pretty fun.
Listen motherfucker.
I skipped the gym again today.
The new desk I built was missing a screw today.
And I was just reminded no Chromehounds 2 today.
You want me to commit suicide? Huh? Do ya?
does Titanfall count?
I wish we could get a new armored core or chromehounds game on PC
Excellent game but I wish that you got the skells later in the game rather than pretty early.
Gotta be honest. Most of them suffer in the production department. Something like Armoured Core just does not hold up when you put it side by side with other modern triple A titles. Which is a real shame. Maybe Titanfall's recent moderate success can steer things around.
Will we ever get a good, well polished version of a game like Exteel?
Some of those arent mech games. Theres mechs in them sure but for example, gundam vs isnt a mech game. Im talking games that actually take advantage of the concept of custom mechs like AC.
Also best mech.
Hopefully. The 3 shadowrun games they made were bretty gud, so it gives me hope.
Just wish they were doing clan invasion shit instead of the timeline we're getting, if it does well that'll almost certainly be the sequel though.
Mechs are fucking shit
>tfw originally the art director was a hipster who didn't like Titans being called mechs or mecha
>the devs not only retracted his shit opinion, they made Titanfall 2 /m/ as fuck and even made the final boss in singleplayer a fucking Gundam
High af learning curve, Some stuff about it is stupid, but otherwise pretty fun.
Blows my mind man, blows my mind how a game so unique and entertaining will never be
recreated. Will never be on PC. Won't get to experience joining random squads again or the
slow, chess-like gameplay. Won't ecer get to experience capturing a com tower again to hear how your squad is or experience knowing if your squadmate that went outside communications range
is alive or dead after hearing the booming, map-wide sound of a mech being destroyed.
Such a fucking good game unlike anything on the market now and it flopped because of the time it came out and the crowd it was trying to appeal to.
Game still had the best fucking real time explosions ive ever seen
What mech games can I play on PS3 or PC? Only ever played Bangai-O Spirits which I suppose counts as far as mech games go, but mechs are fucking awesome so I'd like to change that
I'd say they were a victim of the AA games collapse.
Mecha represent a style of play that is simply too slow and clunky for the target audience these days. I'm not disparaging it personally, AC and MW were two of my favorite series to play, but the scope, play style, and pacing of most pf these games would bore the average player these days. The demand for multiplayer and world persistence would put a lot of strain on these games as well, conceptually they just don't lend well to anything but single player.
But you never know, there's only as many games as their are ideas. someone might come up with something some day.
It's an absolute crime that there are as few modern mecha games as there are. We need more, Armoured Core, MechWarrior. I want stupid animu super mecha and realistic tank like mecha. Just everything.
I liked it, but it took so long to get your mecha. Still, very fun game.
how big of a numale faggot do you have to be to not love robots? especially giant robots whose sole purpose is to be walking arsenals of city obliterating destruction?
solid list, but
you are missing heavy gear 2
missing earthsiege 2 & starsiege
missing shattered steel (the ONLY good bioware game EVER made)
missing ZOIDS battle legends
Mechwarrior online is still very active, Hawken is active, Earth Defense Force did well, airmech existed but is now pretty dead, Transformers is getting another movie (Though transformers fucking sucks.), there's still an abundance of mecha anime coming out.
The list could go on.
I know some of these aren't games but I still think they matter to the mecha fanbase.
youtube.com
you can play it on PC right now.
The guys behind Mechwarrior shut down in 2007, Square Enix lost faith in Front Mission after disappointing sales in 5 and Evolved bombing, and Fromsoft realized there was more money in Souls than Armored Core. They were pretty much the big three of vidya mecha.
>there's still an abundance of mecha anime coming out.
mecha animu is still under the tyranny of Gundam, nothing else really comes out like it used to, and on the occasion it does nothing tries to experiment
>Heavy mech mission
>The one where the silos are all along the pipeline like two kilometers away
>Suck dick with the salvo launchers
>Use a custom mech with soldier legs and sniper guns
>Finish it stupidly fast
God the fact that the game allowed you to do whatever you wanted aside from the tutorial missions was so good.
The final scout/soldier mission was some shit though.
'
mechwarrior living legends got a sick reivival and its way ebtter thgan MWO for real nigga
i played airmecdh literally like 4 or 5 years ago.
The concept should lend itself pretty well to both of these things, if you're talking persistent worlds like MMOs and similar.
Not only could you be trying to get parts/gear but you could be fine tuning it as well. No reason some of the most popular mechanics in current games can't be easily applied to customizing mechs and taking them out in co-op/pvp environments.
The list is incomplete for sure, but I'm just pulling general ones from memory.
Code Ge/a/ss sucks, take that shit to the trash
This is true, but I'm saying it's still coming out and there is a fanbase for it.
I don't really watch anything beyond 2005 so I wouldn't know if it's bad or good. I assume bad.
Robots are great.
Giant humanoid robots are a meme.
I waited for you ZoE3.... I waited for you but you never came...
Because the popular mecha games like Hawken and Titanfall appeal to fans of generic brown & bloom shooters instead of mecha shows, while good mecha games like Armored Core or Custom Robo don't appeal to normies.
Quit being an assblasted Tankfag.
Next you'll say magic is a meme or superpowers or a meme, or anything that isn't real is a meme.
Video games are just meme worlds, they have no value
Game about Mechs where it's more fun to just run on foot.
>gundam vs isnt a mech game
them fighting words
If you only played the single player you literally missed 90% of the games fun. The online was so unique with a constant war ranging 24/7 where every battle altered the wars outcome little by little. Joining "squads" people make and getting to know your squad mates and their personalities. Shit got so elaborate online there started being espionage of top squads from other countries infiltrating other top squads to steal their mech builds and shit.
I havent played another game like it sense. Shame the mech genre is dying/not too popular. Also a shame FROM rather make dark souls games and stuff instead of one of their most unique games.
If chromehounds launched on PC I feel like it'd have been much more welcomed.
We have a new Mechwarrior coming, and a turn based battle tech game. There are ALWAYS gundam games coming out like the Versus series or the newer Breaker games.
Technically Titanfall 2 is, despite the bullshit rhetoric. There are various lower budget games on steam greenlight with promise, as well.
And that excluding things like SRW and other more niche products.
Then again, as big as you thought this genre ever was, it was likely not as big as that. Mecha has always been niche. It's just a niche that was easier to placate when it didn't cost millions to make a game and take a risk.
>daydream about creating an isometric anime mecha twin stick shooter
>too lazy to learn unreal/unity/gamemaker
i dont like this feel
I just want Armored Core with all its customization glory on the PC with mouse and keyboard controls.
Is that so goddamn hard bloody hell.
Or a Gundam Breaker if they spice up the gameplay a little bit.
You don't understand my pain.
I don't want tanks.
Robots could be anything.
But it's always damn humanoids with guns and swords.
Robots are for nerds
...
>Mecha has always been niche. It's just a niche that was easier to placate when it didn't cost millions to make a game and take a risk.
This and the fact that it was a niche market that got super saturated back in the sixth/seventh gens. Armored Core alone had ten goddamn games between 2000 and 2008, not counting mobile or handheld games. Even if it were a fairly popular genre that sort of overexposure would kill interest.
Titanfall2 is great though.
normies and the hollywoodization of vidya
Then thats where we disagree. I consider a mech game to be any game where the primary interaction between the player and the environment or another player is a giant robot. Lost planet is a good example, while you normally have a third person perspective as a dude on the ground, there are some conflicts that absolutely can NOT be bypassed without the use of a mech, including the final boss fight. It might be a broken means of classification, but when you have dumb niggers at Respawn Entertainment saying that Titan Flop 2 isn't a mech game, the debate on that opens the floodgates for people deicde where to draw the genre line.
And don't get me wrong, your right in the sense that its a poorly defined subgenre, but thats why theres room for different interpretation, and why its ok to disagree on te correct classification.
tl;dr kys fag phil fish loving nigger cuck
Replace shitty Gundams with cute lolis and you have an almost identical game.
It's not a mech game.
Because cyborgs, power suits, amputeefest, etc kills what mecha games does best: customizing your character and what it can do.
Is the singleplayer worth it? The lack of it really bummed me out about 1 so I never bought it.
A new Armored Core is actually in development. Now that it's 2017 and From Software is a fucking huge deal I just hope they don't pull some shit like they did with 5 with outdated graphics and awful AI. (I'm hyped but this is From Soft's C team nowadays)
>there are some conflicts that absolutely can NOT be bypassed without the use of a mech
t: shitter
...
Is there any power suit game that has the sort of customization you get out of an Armored Core? I'm not trying to be a dick, I actually want that really bad. I have a borderline paraphilic obsession with power armor and I've never found a game that quite satisfies my fetish.
Lost Planet is dead for a reason user. It wasn't good. The final boss fight was hot garbage.
I'm holding out hope that From go back to AC, now that they've confirmed Dark Souls being done. If they announced a new one at E3 I'd shit.
The singleplayer is fucking great. Protagonist isn't all that, sort of a generic everyman kinda guy, but the banter with your mech BT is absolutely great.
Just don't expect a 20 hour long plot-heavy thing, it's about 6-7 hours of mostly action with some really fucking neat spins on it.
Can I be a mecha?
I know. I'm calling him a shitter for thinking that some missions are too hard if you don't use mechs.
As a fan I'm honestly okay with it being dead for a while. There are fifteen goddamn games and for a while there was more than one per year being put out, it was a good idea to put the whole thing to bed for a while.
Because people cared more about Dank Souls then Armored Core
>Lost Planet is dead for a reason user
Yeah, it died because of 3.
2 sucked too, don't candy coat it.
Let me guess: 360 player with no online?
Yeah that's very true, and the ps3 games are still a blast. I guess the main risk with a new one is the possibility of it being pared down trash stuff. Fingers crossed though.
Can I talk about Starsiege here? Starsiege is mech right? Starsiege was my favorite mech game as a kid
still sad that fan sequel never got off the ground
The reality is that only a few people actually like mechs. Titanfall 2 releasing alongside BF1 wasn't just the sole reason the game flopped.
WW2 tanks are the big thing now, unless Fromsoft manages to bring AC to the heights of Dark Souls.
>pretty early
>so long
...
Hmm... which is it?
Considering AC started riding Dark Souls' coattails thanks to a few retards years ago, there's a good chance of it.
PGI didn't ruin MW:O, IGP did. it just got so fucked over by IGP that PGI couldn't entirely fix it after IGP was out of the picture. the game has been slowly getting better bit by bit, but it will forever be crippled beyond repair.
Skells are fucking awesome but the heavy frames control like ass in vehicle mode.
>Gundam Breaker 3
>SD Gundam GGG
>SRW OG MD
>SRW V in 2 weeks
>new Gundam Versus has bloody mah boy Guncannon back in roster
>All in Eng(r)ish
>posted Xenoblade X - best mech jRPG there is to exist which was recent release
All ok on my end
Good gameplay, exploration, scenery porn, sidequests
Hit and miss soundtrack
Bad main story, main cast and character graphics
7/10
Do the new SRW games have characters worth a shit? Because I could fucking care less about Unicorn, those shitty OCs and IBO, give me Nono or Roger Smith ffs.
Literally zero mecha games in your post.
>character graphics
I'll take potatoes over generic sterilized anime style of Xenoblade 2 tho
