Hey, these games are bretty gud

Yepper
pity it's dead, but I'd prefer it stay dead to another soulless reboot
Been thinking of playing these, but I heard bad things about the PC port.
Is your name Eric?
no
Blood Omen PC port is kinda iffy, but you won't really do any better with PS1 emulation imo
for Soul Reaver, definitely emulate the Dreamcast version
for Soul Reaver 2, you could go either way, takes a lot of fucking around with it to make widescreen work
Blood Omen 2 is a decent PC port
Defiance will run fine right out of the box, though you might want to use a gamepad profiler (eg Xpadder) to get it just right
nice thing is you can use texture mods on Defiance through some convoluted bullshit, pic related
>few knougat the chewth
I played through the very first Blood Omen last month and thought it was kind of fun
Should I get a brain scan
Right, thanks. Just gotta saddle up and learn how to actually emulate.
for dreamcast you'll need to track down a BIOS and use one of the emulators out there, I prefer NullDC but there's plenty of others
the day the Snacklish website died was a dark one indeed
>4AM Kainpasta
I still can't for the live of me see why people like Soul Reaver. I seriously fucking hate that game. The controls are terrible, the platforming is awkward, there's a bazillion annoying block puzzles you have to do. The game looks grey and muddy, the framerate is terrible and the FOV is a bad joke which ruins a lot of the atmosphere for me (maybe I should have played the DC version, yeah). Then every animation like climbing, phasing through gates, switching realms and what not always take way longer than it should and that very much includes the combat. I mean Jesus fuck the combat.
How is fighting anyone even worth it when the moment you get hit you lose your one surefire way to finish someone off. Combat doesn't even yeald any rewards, it just heals you which you can get quicker by going back to spectral and absorbing a random fucking soul.
I mean at least I enjoy the music and voice acting, it's still a Legacy of Kain game after all, but the story section SR1 tells feels so underwhelming right up until you reach the end. What do Raziel's brothers even have to say? Just about nothing of interest. Okay you learn Raziel's origin and he receives the reaver which is alright but that's about everything that happens in the entirety of SR1. Why the FUCK is this game so popular?
There I needed to get that off my chest. I love this series to death but this has been my third attempt to finally "get" and enjoy Soul Reaver 1 over the other games and I can't fucking bring myself to do it.
I made a whole bunch of Zelda CD-i memes too but they never really caught on so I lost every one in a hard drive failure except for this one that somebody liked enough to save
>not always carrying a staff with you
>not expertly dodging the enemy's clumsy strikes and jumping back in to beat the shit out of them
>not relishing the moment where you go full Vlad Tepes on them and tear loose their soul from its moorings
I'll give you the block puzzles though, those are a pain in the ass. They're at their very worst in that goddamn infested cathedral. Good thing Zephon himself is cool enough to make it worth it.
Nigga if I can beat SR1 on an android PS1 emulator using the touchscreen gamepad and still love it, you sure as shit can find the merit in it
>SR1 on an android PS1 emulator using the touchscreen gamepad
Perhaps sometimes two wrongs really do equal one right.
>not always carrying a staff with you
Except you keep losing those every time you're forced to go spectral because you have to phase through one of the thousand unnecessary iron gates.
I will play video games with whatever means I have available and I will never apologize for that
You're perfectly fine. BO is still a good and interesting game. Simon Templeman carries this game a lot with his voice.
THE HEART OF DARKNESS
Wew. I thought I was good when I managed to finishe Super Metroid with touchscreen controls.
