I'm curious about something

I'm curious about something.

Every time somebody on raises a question about tiddies and ass fanservice in games, the general response seems to be "it sells, get over it homo"

But when a company decides to casualise/change gameplay to appeal to a larger market because "it sells" people here kick up a fucking shitstorm about it?

I regret posting that pear

Generally speaking, the inclusion of fanservice is not a negative thing to begin with. It rarely exists to the detriment of other things. Wheras gameplay changes to appeal to casuals generally DOES cause a detriment to a game's skillgap.

Also because Sup Forums is filled with hypocrites.

IT SELLS!

...

My finest creation.

If they need/want to casualise/change gameplay then they should also add ass an tiddies.

...

is this a fetish thing

False equivalentcy, titties and ass fan service is a non issue compared to gameplay. A game can be good regardless of weather or not it has sexy fan service but a game cannot be good if its made for casuals

That does make some sense, but it seems to me like that's for a perspective where the only thing that can possibly be detrimented is gameplay, where I think that interesting design is held back by the need to appeal to audiences, tiddies or otherwise.

Its getting so bad in some games (ESPECIALLY MOBILE) that most of the mechanics are completely gone such that the game barely resembles the franchise that it belongs too. You can only dumb shit down so much until its just "insert credit card, push button and win".

I want to eat this pear if you know what I mean.

>make a game visually appealing
good
>make a game shallow and easy

wow, cant believe i solved that mystery

I don't recognize that Yoshiee, is it new?

That's like complaining because nobody goes to the back alley fast food place while the fine restaurant on the other side of town is always full, even though both have fries, sandwiches and salads.

I said "generally". Obviously it's possible for a game to have fanservice to the detriment, of, say, general tone or mood if there' a atmospheric horror game that has a costume that has ass and tits everywhere, but that's not that common as the casualization example.

There's a difference between changing an existing franchise and making a new one though, genius.

If you make a new shitty franchise no one cares about it.

If you ruin one people are gonna throw a shitfit.

It's simple.

If there was fanservice in it to begin with, it's fine. If they suddenly had excessive fanservice to a game series that was mostly devoid of it until then, then that's stupid.

If a game was casual to begin with, no one's gonna complain. There is nothing wrong with a casual game existing. However, if a game series with a high difficulty/skill ceiling was made more casual, then that's a bad thing. You're basically telling the existing fanbase to go fuck themselves in favor of a more casual demographic. The existing fanbase has every right to get angry.

>game contains tits
>game

>streamer shows cleavage
>not a game

gee I wonder why, especially when the window is filled with 60% tits, 20% game and 20% donation bullshit.

Neither changes the gameplay.

sex sells, and nothing is immune to that singular fact. catering to crybaby dipshits who can't remember to breathe is a problem. it's usually paired with the "cinematic gameplay" cancer that is plaguing the industry.

too many tryhards and not enough actual talent.

>20% game
Yes it does.

You're that butthurt over FE:H, huh?

What would you consider DoA at this point? Because calling that 20% game is high praise.

A nice pear of titties

This is some weird photoshop fusion of a porn pic and a pear texture right?

RIGHT?

If you seriously can't distinguish how the actors in a video game, differ from someone presenting a videogame to an audience while sacrificing most of the screen space to their webcam. You might have issues. I literally don't give a fuck that the streamer shows her tits, go right the fuck ahead, but don't fucking block the entirety of the screen to gain viewership. I'm here for the gameplay not watching you be a whore.

How about masturbation though?

Watching models from a video game has about as much to to with videogames as looking at a streamer. Both about jack shit.

...

Because in the 90s/early 2000s selling video games with sex was still a thing, but vidya hadn't yet been taken over by the normies until 2006/2007.

Casualizing gameplay keeps the normies around, and I fucking hate normies.

I would say it's about effort to make a good quality game. Good mechanics and good pretty character models are hard to design and make. Like, how hard is it to draw a shitty drawing versus an amazing sexy picture.

A lot of "casual" games nowadays don't feature complex, well designed mechanics, instead copy pasting ancient ones and neglecting to introduce cutting edge ones. Similarly, streamers whose only appeal is being naked with no extra effort (sexy poses, camerawork, hard to do hairstyles or clothes) makes people angry since it is free money. The best of "sexy" fanservice characters people like needed characterisation, story arcs and art design to make them the perfect waifu.

I'm not a fan of DOA. But did DOA bad touch you or something?

Sure watching animations with zero input isn't very game like, but other than people buying the game as a softcore porn, there is still a fighting game system in the game. Whether people use it or not is *gasp* up to them.

Last I checked, human beings aren't video games.

And people like tits, so noone is going to complain about that... unless you happen to be on a website about people watching other people play video games, with the whole WATCHING THEM PLAY part completely obfuscated by their webcam.

>RIGHT?

no

Let me enlighten you, if the 36+ posts before me have not

The whole SEX SELLS is true, but it's healthy for a man to enjoy such things. It's not neccesary, but it doesn't ruin the game.

Making things easier, casualisation, is wrong. The underlying challenge is there sure, but the developers want a demographic that isn't willing to learn to join and will cater to that demographic.

Let's use fighting games as an example. TEKKEN 7 and King of Fighters XIV have implemented "one-button-combos" for people who haven't picked up a game.
Given how retarded people actually are, some will believe they are legitimately good at the game because they hit X 4 times in a row and did a 10 hit combo that looks flash.
It's not a new thing as the Persona Fighting game had this "idea", but they try to balance this by making the combo do a little less damage. Say you had a semblence of timing, all you had to do is wait to press X 5 times and there's your 10 hit combo.

It's wrong. It bastardises one of the very few genres that physically requires a player to learn how to play. This can be applied to anyone. Fighting games have always been a small demographic. They may have been popular and when you go over to your friend's house and have a drink, you'll have a home TEKKEN tournament and that's cool. But not everyone is willing to learn the game, it doesn't add anything positive to a game. If people are interested and want to learn, they will do it themselves, not pick a character who you can mash the buttons to win Looking at you, Eddy Gordo

Another instance is frame-links. I'm not talking about 1 frame links where you have to master a new depth of timing, just a simple "standing light kick > standing light kick, crouching light punch > hadoken motion"
That requires timing; it requires LEARNING
Street Fighter V is appauling because of how easy they've made it. Anyone can do a combo now

Sex appeal is just a bonus. Skill is not optional.

Tits and ass don't effect the gameplay, which is the important part.

because graphics doesn't equal gameplay/fun

>the actors in a video game, differ from someone presenting a videogame to an audience while sacrificing most of the screen space to their webcam

Is the person a videogame? No? There's my problem. I'm watching a GAMING stream because I want to watch GAMES, not porn.

i wanna eat that ass

It's almost like their opinion is rooted in what they like rather than truth of it all.

You know the answer.

UHHHH!

yep

Because it's usually fucking shit? Even among the 24 year old handholdless virgins who LIKE shitty 3d character model tits, all they do is post fanart and say SEE? SHE'S HOT before shitting out some autistic DA-tier ERP shit like Because of its complete unsexiness, all it does is waste the players time. Every female character with the possibility for an interesting character design is instead put through the corporate wringer to actively try to appeal to people's dicks, rather than their sense of taste. Every personality needs to be flattened down into boring, pandering, palatable paste devoid of any artistic innovation. Same with every scene and every character interaction.

It's all fucking shit - and I don't even mind schlock. I'm not hand-waving it all off as 'unintelligent' or whatever, because if any of it was sexy I wouldn't mind but to me all of it just looks like the kind of shit HAYDEE tried to pull.

Fanservice, a lot of it can't ruin gameplay.
Casualizing whole game does.

MMRRMMRM MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM AAAAAAAAAAAH

>ur mama live me toilet

I can't even work out what this nigga trying to say.

he's just lost, ignore him.

>no english translation yet
Life is suffering when you lack the arcane ability to decipher moon runes

Funny thing about that is that so many games I've played with heavy fanservice also end up having shit gameplay. Or they especially take an existing popular game, clone it moderately well, and then spend the rest of their time on ass and tits.

I wouldn't mind a fanservice game if it was interesting to play, too many seem to miss this part however.

Appealing to a larger market to achieve better sales and bending over to infernal political correctness and multi-culti bullshit are not one and the same.

The first is totally acceptable, the second - absolutely not.

Hey man say what you want but I have stumbled across a few good anime / cartoons because I fapped to the hentai then thought to give the show an actual chance.

I am sure the vidya version of this will eventually happen too. Sometimes your dick can lead you in a good direction.

BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP

Fanservice, if its in a good game, doesnt affect the gameplay. Its like CS:GO skins - skina dont affect the stats of the gun etc. If game was good it'll still be good et vice versa - bad game will be bad. Making a game simple so casuals can easily get into it might and usually does take away the depth and overall quality of gameplay. Imagine next Total War having only simple army management where all you can do is recruiting units and fighting other armies so a casual can get into the game and have fun right from beginning. "Hardcore gamers" (not a best term to use, but a well-known one) including myself, would be very disappointed in the game not having technology research, trade and diplomacy and city management. On the other hand, imagine some sort of strange fanservice where your cavalry is all naked women (no stats changed). Doesnt affect the gameplay at all.

>But when a company decides to casualise/change gameplay to appeal to a larger market because "it sells" people here kick up a fucking shitstorm about it?

Because I can't think of an example of "we want to appeal to a wider audience" actually succeeded. So far it seems to just run series into the ground because they alienate the existing audience while failing to capture a new one.

'GOT DAM

You have to try really hard to ruin the game with ass and tits. It's not hard to ruin the game by dumbing down gameplay. Next.

>imagine some sort of strange fanservice where your cavalry is all naked women (no stats changed). Doesnt affect the gameplay at all.
Too bad it looks fucking stupid and detracts from the overall aesthetic

But I don't kick up a shitstorm about it?

Buy what you want or don't man but if you don't support what you like you can't bitch when the money goes elsewhere.

McFUCKING DELET THIS

Sexy characters and imagery don't detract or otherwise affect gameplay in any way. Casualizing a game does. Simple as that.

I'm going to commit a crime!

>make an incredible mediocre game with barely any content
>slap some tits in it
>OH MY GOD BEST GAME EVER MUH WAIFU GOTY THICC CUTE CUTE

Its pretty pathetic. Its literally the same like in the west with SJW bullshit. People dont care about the game anymore, just that they get panderd to.

Its not a problem when its optional.

Name a game that has happened in. Haydee is the only one I can think of.

>play new vegas
>enjoy it
>wear mod skimpy armor
>enjoy it even more
where is the problem

Senran Kagura
Dead of Alive
Bayonetta
Nioh
Metal Gear Solid V
Tomb Raider

>fanservice
>bad

"Trying to appeal to a larger audience" usually doesn't work because they end up taking away whatever it was that made that specific game or series great and end up with a sterile product that's neither offensive or interesting.

>you are at the point you get triggered by tits and asses
Huh insecure much? No one is saying games like Seran Kagura and DoA are good outside of that, in fact everyone acknowledges fanservice is all they're good for. Getting triggered by their existence is in turn pretty pathetic actually.

I only played Shinovi versus but it had plenty of content, I can see someone liking it if it's their type of game.

The fighting game or the beach one?

Umm?

No.

It way too much content, I didn't like quiet but Ithought the game was fine.

Never played it.

One is a visual change that doesn't affect gameplay.

The other is not.

>Umm

You sound like a gigantic retard when you imitate your mouthbreathing sounds on the internet.

literally what fucking game has optional 'ruin aesthetic with T&A for no reason' DLC?

AH!

*rubs back of head and closes eyes*

Ehehe sorry, sorry.

I hadn't realized.

I said B-BACK THE FUCK OFF?!

Gun skins in CSGO are a bad example because they don't exist because of fan service, its just Valve milking the franchise for all it's worth. The game, the scene and the community would a lot better off if those items (gloves, weapon skins and sprays) never existed.

The fact that you can't disable their visuals client-side and all of them need to be bought with real money (unless you're stupidly lucky with drops, which nobody is) is the direct opposite of fan service, if anything it has pushed even more people away from CS.

every time a sports team changes their logo to appeal to the fans, the response is "it sells, get over it"

But when a team starts trying to play by different rules and fires all their old players for randos, people kick up a fucking shitstorm about it?
