So if he's a melee oriented tank, what kinda role would he take on? Reinhardt is melee oriented and has a big fuck off shield. Roadhog can snatch people with hook, Zarya can bubble teammates, Winston can drop down a wimpy ass shield but can hop around and fuck with weaker targets, and D.va is D.va.

If Doomfist IS a tank, I guess he could just be a flatout brawler that specializes in wading in and just clobbering people

I think he will be have a role similar to a hybrid between reinhardt and roadhog.

Where he's a melee damage dealer with no shields/armor but high health. Where the playstyle will differ might be tanking ahead of the actual payload where you're trying to get the focus of the enemy team away from the objective.

You think he'll have some kinda self heal?

I tbink the only way he could be reliable without becoming another Reinhardt (ie shields) is to give him a full armor health pool but a small critical point (unlike Dva).

Dva could go up close and personal and even survive it with 400 armor. If Doomfist is a single opponent focused and only melee hero he needs at least 600 armor to survive walking in (presumably he won't get a speed ability).

yea if my dumb guess is accurate he'd have to have something to heal himself without shields but it couldn't just be a total copy of roadhog either. another way to balance that could be an even higher healthpool than roadhog, and just knowing when to retreat back to the team to get healed. the high healthpool would be balanced by the fact that maybe he knocks enemies back with his punches and they have a chance to attack from a distance or something.

yea that too, I was gonna say a super high health pool so that he can go up ahead and fuck shit up but go back to the team to get heals. but armor would work as well and pretty much be the same thing, since it's essentially just health that can absorb more damage and doesn't regenerate.

would be cool if the doomfist takes over the wearer's mind, and for a few months doomfist is a good guy but later on they change him to be evil.

He need better than health because no matter how many health you have you get focused down fast. A solder can almost delete a hog single handedly with a magazine.

I would say he'd get a self heal but that's probably too similar to roadhog. He'll probably just get armor so he absorbs more damage or a super high health pool.

the way roadhog is balanced is he's slow but can self heal. take away the self heal and he'd need to be fast. doomfist might be balanced that way.
