In a recent call with investors...

>In a recent call with investors, creative director Shigeru Miyamoto said that Nintendo’s own development teams have rapidly gained ground on their Western competitors. That’s because the new Nintendo Switch console is more open than ever, and supports modern game engines like Unreal and Unity.
>During the call, an anonymous investor faulted the Wii U for its inability to easily support third-party software. He demanded to know how Nintendo’s own internal teams were getting on with making games for the Switch, which is due out March 3. In response, Miyamoto was extremely positive about the new device’s capabilities.
>“Regarding our software development environment,” Miyamoto said, “third-party developers who are making software for PC can now easily adapt that software to work on our platform. In the current development environment, Iʼd say that it would take less than a year for them to port a PC game to Nintendo Switch.
>“That ease of software development has also been felt by Nintendoʼs internal developers. Also, even though game software developers in the U.S. and E.U. are often said to have superior skills to their Japanese counterparts when it comes to software development techniques, Nintendoʼs software developers have mastered state-of-the-art technologies such as Unreal engine, and their skills can now be compared with those of Western developers. Our developers are more excited than ever to create software.”

I have to admit, the Switch doesn't seem so bad anymore.

it will flop

>Unreal Engine 4
Into the TRASH it goes

I don't think it will flop but it won't come close to hitting the Wii's 100 million sales or even the PS4's, what 50 million, sales so far.

I think I'll wait a year or two and buy a Switch off of Craigslist.

>pc port
Kek, cemu made them shit on their pants

>off of Craigslist
Enjoy your free pubic hair and cum stains

>Literally bagging about being this behind the curve
>Literally bragging about mastering something everyone but them mastered years ago.

Holy shit, where does he get off being so arrogant, why is it everyone that works at Nintendo a delsuional retard?

You would get them either way its a japanese console

Now every Nintendo game is going to have more reused assets and look similar in visual design.

in the past nintendo didn't have to care since their systems did well from first party support alone

>Not wanting free pubic hair and cum stains

Mastering an engine isn't a special feat when you are a professional with credential, especially an engineer. That's actually expected. People impressed by this should stop hiring lying pink haired college drop out with 3 unity tutorials and a tumblr as a portfolios.

Is this why Mario is in some GTA like new york city in Odyssey?

They didn't care because they had a draconian almost monopoly over the gaming industry and 3rd parties had nowhere else to go. Shit's different now, and they still seem to think no different than when they had an almost monopoly, it really seems that they think 3rd parties will flock to them over Sony and Microsoft for no other reason than they're Nintendo

>Western Devs are supposed to be better than Japanese Devs
>All these unoptimised AAA games shat out by western studios that run at 17 cinematic FPS on consoles and require high end PC's to be played at 60 FPS
I call bullshit on that statement

Are there still pop-ins?

On the WiiU yes

>I am insecure the post

>a fucking unreal engine
Fucking hell

>everyone but them mastered years ago
not really lol

Yes really, I know you drones don't accept anything other than your retarded headcanon as fact but in reality Unreal technology was mastered by damn near every major developer but them

who cares

you're acting like it's some kind of industry standard, nintendo uses in house engines as do a lot of developers

If you read it carefully it says that they will use their knowledge of Unreal 4 to help third party devs working on Switch. They will NOT use Unreal 4 for games, they will still use their own proprietary engines.

>arrogant
>delusional

But why are you so upset, though?

The only things Nintendo has mastered is fucking up and making astronomically bad decisions.

You can port the games but unless it's in min settings and 720p it won't play them

>I never saw MT Framework or Fox Engine the post

>bragging about unity
literally why?

can't wait to this hack retirement announce followed by his reunion with iwata

>it takes a full year to port a pc game to the switch
No one is going to buy the game that long after it releases, and I don't think the third party developers want to waste their development teams for that long either, they'd rather work on new games. And this is supposed to be good?

>I have to admit, the Switch doesn't seem so bad anymore.
That is because Ninty is paying you :^)

WEW guys ! Nintendo has finally caught up with the rest of the gaming industry ! WATCH OUT

The bigger takeaway is that the Switch supports Unreal and Unity, which means more games can more easily come out for the Switch instead of having to fight with Nintendo's proprietary devtools.

Who's upset? I find it funny as fuck.

>game software developers in the U.S. and E.U. are often said to have superior skills to their Japanese counterparts when it comes to software development techniques

Maybe they're talking about Bethesda and Naughty Dog using literally the same game engine for a decade, I guess that counts as a technique.

>Implying I don't want that

...

It also doesn't help that until recently, Japanese devs wouldn't take advantage of western devtools or engiles like Unreal or Unity; they insisted on using their own engines. You're starting to see this trend getting bucked, what with Dragon Quest and Bloodstained both using UE4.

Yes really

>will allow for easier pc ports

>unreal
ok Nintendo, heres what you do, you find the unreal ocorona of time developers, throw a bucket of money at them or hire them, sell it to me when it's done for £40.
and after that sells 6 milion copies commission them to follow it up with majoras mask.
profit.

We've had Unreal Mario 64 and Unreal Mario Sunshine as well.

I want to make a 3d platformer. Should I pick up Unreal or Unity?

Those unreal games look like trash

The nips are objectively terrible when it come to programming/computer science. Many Japanese sites have that archaic early 2000s look and they have been lagging behind the west (and even Korea/China) when it come to app development.

Get Hype

they arent perfect but if they were given the attention and guidance they need then they could polish up to be something special

What the fuck do they mean it runs UE4? There are multiple versions of if, even ones that are for mobile

letting hopes and dreams and POTENTIAL guide your wallet is how you got mighty no. 9 you dumb fuck
that unreal ocarina of time looks like shit

how would making a game thats already hailed as one of the greatest and sticking it unreal make it any worse?
even if you dont like the visuals its still the exact same game retard.

Because the only reason to stick those games on unreal is to make them look good but all those unreal demos people have put out look like garbage

>Brand-new console
>won't sell 50 million units immediately

Another shocking prediction from Sup Forums

Does this mean they will port all their games when the Switch dies?
Because I want to play BotW in my PC.

>subjective opinion
>i don't like it therefore it's bad.
well i like how it looks and would be willing to pay money for a functional version.
what you gonna do cry about it?
you have such a fucking muslim way of thinking.

well you're an idiot, for one
and I'm not that guy's also fucking retarded

Yes.

i never claimed not to be an idiot, id pay full price for a game iv already completed multiple times and that says enough. sadly for you im not alone in my opinion, i want shiny versions of things i already own, theirs a huge market for nostalgia fags like myself.

Even aside from the hyperbole, that would be impossible regardless because once again Nintendo has undershipped their product. Preorders were sold out everywhere within 2 days of them going live, so Nintendo's managed to alienate themselves from the impulse buyer's market once again.

NEVER EVER

So now it'll be easier to port Nintendo games to other platforms when the Switch fails.

Or they could just set their teams of actual game and visual designers on it and get something that doesn't look like mish-mashed shit built from community assets and ripped HW models.

cemu

This literally never happens after GamerGate.

Remember these game businesses are still companies they realized those people were a fucking liability pretty quickly when a digital brick broke through the SJW shop's window in the Video Game Industry.

>average unreal developer
>"hurr-I SHOULD MAKE THE WHOLE MAP A 3D MODEL!"
>5 FPS
>"SHIP IT!"

They are as a braindead as Unity devs, adding 3D planes or models in every situation is the worst idea. This is why people should avoid this shit, and actually make their own engines or not develop at all.

the only japanese company that'll make jap games that don't look like ps2 games.

But i already have one

>Literally bragging about mastering something everyone but them mastered years ago.
Is that why a lot of modern game runs poorly and are riddled with glitches? You'd have a point if it was UE3 but no it's UE4 which has been around for only 4 years. And what the fuck is wrong with Nintendo finally using industry standard modern engines? This means their will come out quicker, what is wrong with fags like you?

>Want a game to run decently
>insecure

What kind of fucking mental gymnastics did you have to go through to achieve that?

Modern Nintendo fanbase gymnastics apparently. This fanbase has been in complete denial of reality mode since the Wii, I cant even feel good about calling myself a Nintendo fan anymore because these retards exist. They're practically subhuman.

...

...

explain me: andromeda then.

kh3, ff7re, t7, sfv, etc.

Web design is not programming

>Many Japanese sites have that archaic early 2000s look
That's a good thing, not a bad thing.

i think the problem here is the translation. you're translating from a shitty, low information language like japanese into english, so it seems like he's rambling and saying stupid shit when really i think he was just trying to say:

"we have tools and people available to help third party developers port ue4 and unity games to our underpowered handheld"

nothing wrong with that. they finally got a little smart.

>Nintendo literally getting ready to go 3rd party

lmao

>Iʼd say that it would take less than a year for them to port a PC game to Nintendo Switch.

How long does it usually take to port a game from PC to console? A year sounds like a lot but maybe it isn't. Games takes years to create but what goes into porting a game that takes this long? Genuinely curious.

>I'm posting laughing reaction images, I'm not really mad!
Been there, done that, user. Let it go.

Depends on the games and how well the code is written.
It could take from a couple of months to a couple of years.
