The real question is: are you better than Dark Souls?
No just another addition to the ps4's gaming (((library)))
I AM Dark Souls.
Lol no
No because it's not on PC.
I look like Onimusha Souls.
Steam when?
It's better than anything Souls that came out after DaS1, but it's certainly not on the same level as DeS or DaS1.
I got it yesterday. I am enjoying more than
Dark Souls 1-3 and Demon Souls, but less than Bloodborne.
Never ever
sonycuck reeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEE
I can't help but find it boring, but I'm only on the first level. Hopefully it gets better as I go further
Its good but it will take a full sequel to really fix its issues.
Combat wise yes it destroys souls
Everything else fuck no
No no no no no no.
no.
In fact, don't even think of it as competition but rather its own game. It's not great but it is a game and that counts for quite a bit on PS4.
Bloodborne > Nioh > Demon Souls > Dark Souls 3 > Dark Souls 1 > Dark Souls 2
Shit > Your taste
DS3 > DS1
>people will take this bait
It's a lot more like dark souls than I realized from just playing the alpha and beta. Don't know about it being better though.
>thread filled with people who haven't played it but are so anally blasted about it not being on PC they'll just say it's shit to make themselves feel better
Literally GOTY and it's only February. Breath of the Skyrim will probably get higher scores due to Nintendo inflation though.
I think its too different on certain fundamental aspects to really compare them. Its like comparining ARMA to DOOM. Yeah they're both ARPGs with concepts shared between them, but the format, the combat style, the source material, the tone, its all very different.
We're still in the time period when things are called "Soulsclones" like FPS used to be called "Doomclones". It's a Genre more than anything at this point, a subgenre of ARPG
>literally already making excuses
Holy shit
Bloodborne=DaS>Nioh>DS3>>>LITERAL SHIT>DS2
Elaborate.
Dark Souls 2 is trash, so it should be at the bottom.
Dark Souls 1 falls apart after Anor Londo and it doesn't recover until you face Artorias and Manus.
Dark Souls 3 is easy, but is very consistent in terms of quality and doesn't have a single bad boss (besides that first one in the DLC). Blackfire Freya and Lothric are some of the best bosses FROM has ever done.
Demon Souls has a special place in my heart for being the first game and every boss has its own gimmick, making them memorable.
Nioh is amazing besides the repetitive bosses and stages.
Bloodborne is a masterpiece.
>doesn't have a single bad boss
There's literally a dragon who dies in one hit wtf u on about
Nioh is the same thing as DS2. All these people saying DS2 is "LITERALLY SHIT" are making me laugh. Providing they're not trolling on purpose, I don't think they're even aware that they're inadvertently proving that Nioh is really, really not a great game.
nailed it
Being a gimmick boss doesn't make it bad though. He's just another Dragon God.
Better than the two Dragons in DaS2, who were hard mostly because of the camera.
>Nioh is the same thing as DS2.
It really is though. Same exact jank, same shitty enemies, same ugliness. It's DS2 for weebs basically.
I don't really get why people ride bloodbornes cock so much but I can deal with it I guess.
Dark Souls 3 has shitty bosses and shitty fake stats. Also it's pretty much "remember DS1? the game".
Dark Souls 1 may be flawed but at least is original and the lore had meaning.
>who were hard mostly because of the camera.
Also true for the nameless king dragon.
Use less buzzwords. You're not elaborating.
it's a lot more fun. the combat system is way better. personally i like the samurai movie style where blood spews everywhere and body parts fall off when you kill people.
i never really had fun with souls, i just felt like i had to beat shit. i actually have a lot of fun with this game
Darksouls was a difficult, but could back it up with an amazing game.
This is just difficult for the sake of being difficult.
Avoid at all cost.
t.conquered.
because it was good?
Man fuck you forever. DS2 was garbage and it felt like garbage. Everything you do felt sluggish and broken, every enemy had broken hitboxes, every dodge felt like shit. Nioh feels NOTHING like ds2 and far better designed and looks far better as well.
And here people are complaining about it being too easy in other threads.
Man, those surveys on Sup Forums saying sonyggers are the most cancerous area really making sense; its because there's a large demographic of butthurt drones that hate exclusive games they can't have.
>Shitty bosses
Like? There are a few that aren't great but there are fair number of good ones. I mean, ds1 and Des had their duds too. I don't think anyone really liked leechmonger.
>Shitty fake stats
Literally what? What stat in ds3 was fake? How can a stat be fake? The fuck are you talking about?
I don't want to lose too much time arguing in the internet so here I go:
Dark Souls 1 is about demystifying deities and heroes, the struggles against the unavoidable and the loss of power.
Dark Souls 3 improves the gameplay but it has no fucking soul. It doesn't say a thing, just tries to be nostalgic with the onion knight, anor londo and the final boss track.
That's basicaly my problem with it.
>because it was good?
Well I thought it was ok and not anything special really. I can see why people like it though.
"nioh"
>muh atmosphere
This is a bold statement, and I'm hoping this is true. Downloading it now
I can agree.
It's the only notable aspect of Souls.
Can someone explain me what's the deal with the blood obsession of japanese developers?
Every time you hit an enemy there is a huge blood splash sound that is so unnatural and retard
Is this game made for 15 year old people?
Not an argument.
Try something else.
>he doesn't like goofy blood spatter
Go watch Dexter, learn to appreciate
Has anyone gotten the dragon sword from Ninja Gaiden yet?
It is to Dark Souls what Toukiden is to Monster Hunter: a poor imitation that makes you wish you were playing the original
I was completely shocked when I woke up blind. Up until then, I was your normal middle-aged single man. Living alone, go to work 9 to 5, every weekday. Come home, watch TV, rinse and repeat. Pretty simple, pretty boring.
However, I woke up that morning, opened my eyes, and the world stayed dark. I panicked, rubbing my eyes and pulling up my eyelids with my fingers. Nothing worked. I had just gone to the optometrists’ office yesterday to do my eye exam. 20/20 vision. How could I suddenly lose my eyesight?
My hands continued fumbling on nightstand until I found my phone. Familiarity with it proved to be a blessing here as I managed to unlock it and get to my call log. Calling the numbers one by one, I finally managed to return the call from my optometrist’s reminder.
“Dr. Mati speaking. Who is this?”
I took a deep breath and calmed myself down before speaking. “This is Colin Mackleby. I came in yesterday for an eye exam. You told me yesterday that I was 20/20 in both eyes, but I woke up this morning completely unable to see anything.”
“Give me just a second.” I heard shuffling on the other side. “So I just pulled up your file, Colin. Have you come into contact with any chemicals since yesterday’s exam? Any physical trauma?”
“No.”
“Alright. Listen, I’m gonna need to take a look at you. Could you get someone to take you to the office? Perhaps a relative?”
“That’s gonna be a problem. I live alone. My friends are all on their way to work.”
“Tell you what, Colin. I’ve got about 45 minutes before I open shop. I’ll take a look at you first, then you can come in tomorrow after you’ve arranged something. Do you think you can open Skype and get on a chat with me? Tell me if you need anything. I’ll be on the line.”....
Oh, when you said stat I thought you meant something you level up, not a stat of equipment.
Yeah that poise shit was weird.
Both ds1 and ds3 are about running around in the ruins of a once great civilization, fighting the great remaining powers of that civilization.
I think the reason why ds3 felt less good was the fact that it attempted to encompass lots of different civilizations to show the cyclical nature of the ages of fire and the various lords that linked them. But in the end they all just felt half finished. DS1 was focused on this one story, this one land and this handful of beings. You got a sense of place and reality from it, where as ds3 doesn't have that.
>xDD Dex! he is so cooooool ohhh his hot sister ! I'm such a brainwashed LA puppet I watch anything they put on TV xDDD every 3 minutes a commercial while watching my favorite serial killer ;)

Monster Hunter is shit though. Not a good comparison.
“Yeah, lemme get on. Add cmackle78.” I fumbled around my bedside reaching for my computer. For the first time, I was forced to use the little dots on the F and J keys to guide me as I opened up my computer. Windows login page. Enter. Password. Z-Q-2-3-9-1. Desktop. Windows key, S-K-Y-P-E, Enter. I heard the familiar sound of Skype opening. Now came the somewhat harder part: accepting a contact. It took me about ten minutes of estimated guess-clicking but finally the familiar call sound came through.
I heard the Dr. Mati’s voice on my computer. “Alright let’s take a look at you.” She paused for a moment. Then I heard her angrily respond. “Are you trying to play a prank on me?”
I balled up my fists at her and yelled. “Does it look like I’m pranking you? I can’t see shit!”
Suddenly the other line got really quiet. “You said you lived alone, right?”
“Yeah. What’s wrong?”
“Then whose hands are those covering your eyes?”
It's really not though, and you've clearly never played it.
Casual detected
DS3 had good bosses but the crystal sage, the deacons of the deep, Wolnir, Yorm, Oceiros and the wyvern are a fucking joke.
I wish it was more Onimusha, less Dark Souls.
>Wanting to play a shit 200 hours grinding simulator.
No thanks.
YOU WERE MASTURBATING AND WENT BLIND THATS WHAT THE HANDS WERE
JESUS CHRIST HOW HORRIFYING
I'd guess they look at it more like a stylistic effect like any other flash or fancy particle effect, whereas western sees it more as blood=gruesome, even if we're all desensitized to it regardless, it's a bit cheesy but that's almost part of the magic.
It's more "woah look how CRAZY these effects are" and less "Wow this game is so gruesome and hardcore!!!"
>nioh will forever be tied to the souls series and the shitposting it brings
fuck you guys
have you ever watched an old samurai movie or older anime? it's supposed to have that feel, and it pulls it off very well.
also do you think people don't bleed when being slashed or stabbed with a big piece of sharp metal?
>You got a sense of place and reality from it, where as ds3 doesn't have that.
That's a good point. I didn't though about that I guess I was too focused on trying to swallow those shitty DaS1 references.
Bed of Chaos, Gaping Dragon, Capra Demon and three Stray Demons were shit too, don't try to deny it. I could go on and on with DaS1 bad bosses.
but it's not stylistic at all. Just a fancy overused meme that every fucking low-budget movie uses.
>is this game made for 15 year old people?
Yes.
>Every time you hit an enemy there is a huge blood splash sound that is so unnatural and retard
Because this isn't a simulation, its an action game about killing samurai and demons, ya dink. What, you want to stab someone and then have them lay around groaning and screaming for 10 minutes before dying? And every one of your deaths is a 6 minute slowly darkening screen to simulate bleeding out?
Its a fucking video game
> unnatural and retard
>and retard
How unfortunate.
Nioh tries to be "The Edgy MasterSword Best Killer of All Time: Revenge of The Dark Warrior"
but at the same time use low-budget samurai stuff
In short: it's a low-budget shit that was supposed to be released on PS3 but it was too bad that Team Ninja moved to another project.
the only reason people compare nioh to dark souls is because they've only action game they've ever played is dark souls. that and you can die easily
the game plays totally different than dark souls and the combat system is infinitely better. i'm so sick of soulsbabbies comparing everything to their shit game
In terms of pve its much better than bloodborne but not as good as dark souls 3
Bloodborne would be the best if it wasn't so fucking easy, it makes me so mad they ruined the game by giving you 20 healing potions, a heal on hit mechanic and a spammable ranged parry, it made every boss a joke.
>In short: it's a low-budget shit that was supposed to be released on PS3 but it was too bad that Team Ninja moved to another project.
This.
>unnatural
all those demons are so natural it looks out of place
Yeah. The ds1 references are both annoying but also understandable. I mean, we're supposed to be in the future but we're also supposed to be revived corpses from who knows when.
Really I wouldn't have minded seeing more catarina stuff or stuff like that, but not just straight "Here is Siegmyer again, except he changed his name a bit".
At least we didn't see "Brolaire" the sun knight. Yet.
again, have you ever watched an old samurai movie or anime? they all have that feel and i love it. over the top goofiness and humor, mixed with super violence.
they nailed what they were going for. it's not supposed to be realistic you moron
Jesus christ, I understand. You're pissed off you can't play it. But don't you guys have something to look forward to? Go shill breath of wind some more instead of trying to shout down games you've never played and hate for no reason other than misguided brand loyalty.
Don't know man, maybe it's because I had too much Souls during the last years but those bosses weren't so bad for me in comparission.
>game play nothing like Souls main mechanics are all from other games and Diablo
>LE SOULS
good fuck this board.
Meh. It's got the same level design elements from the Souls games.
The combat has more elements to it but there is still that same core foundation of slowed-down third person precision combat with deep RPG stats.
This goes way back to those really old samurai movies where they would go way overboard with the blood special effects. They would spray blood like fountains.
>"Brolaire" the sun knight
Kek.
But yes at least they respected him.
You little shit!!!
Why did you bring back gear weight!!
You made every build that much harder to make!!!
So its not as much as ds as everyone says? That gives me hope as i wanted to give nioh a try
I really, really, really, REALLY dislike the combat in dark souls though. It's just no fun at all. How does this compare?
>over the top goofiness and humor
You are just making things up. No humor found in Nioh and they don't even try to play that card
They just throw memes in your face and you eat like a good goy japanese shit eater you are.
nothing like Souls if you play this like Souls you will get fucked.
>It's got the same level design elements from the Souls games.
Dark Souls 2 in particular only with far worse enemy placement.
It's literally DS2.
the combat in nioh has actual depth, and there are many different ways you can choose to play. it's also much faster paced and just feels more responsive.
1) it has characters and a coherent plot. I'm not saying it's great because of that, but it's different than most souls games.
2) DIFFERENT ATMOSPHERE
yes, samurai souls or whatever meme you picked up from your YouTube bloggers, but I keep saying this is why DaS2 and 3 are still at the bottom of the FROM list for me. Repeat same atmosphere, core gameplay, even story mechanics. This is purely done for brand name/legacy. Anyway, literally pre ordered DeS while people were still playing the import -
Bloodborne>DaS> Nioh> DeS > DaS3> DaS2
the movie was so bad they had to use extreme effects to make up for it. I understand
>mediocre japanese art that has dark lighting and bright blood red color
>WOW GOTY 10/10!
Why is it so easy to manipulate you?
Reddit and neogaf hate it cause they can't coop.
bloodborne had no replayability because of that, you could just slap on whatever whenever and it didnt even matter
why do you hate samurai movies?
Your question has nothing to do with it. Stop trying to change the subject.
I've spent a solid 9 hours with the game now and these are my feelings:
-The word generic keeps springing to mind
-The combat is decent but simply doesn't feel as good as Dark Souls
-The atmosphere is... average. Not awful but doesn't hold a candle to Dark Souls
-Its nice and challenging but doesn't give you that 'holy shit' feeling when you kill a boss like DS does.
-The story is an utter joke. It actually tries to tell a coherent story but fails dismally on all fronts.
My consensus?
Worth a playthrough but this aint no Dark Souls and that's not a good thing.
DaSIII's pve is leagues below BB's though. It's fucking braindead
can you not remember your previous post?
