All garbage.
shit
Explain
Mobile is going Nintendo.
Soon all top grossing games will be Nintendo's.
Literally.
How about the fact that they're encouraging cash shop mentalities with cheap, shallow, repetitive gameplay that punishes you for not giving them money? And of course them pushing "always online" isn't a good thing either.
They're probably the highest quality games you'll find on mobile (maybe not Miitomo) but they're still kind of bad just because of the mobile models of paid content and how briefly they intended each play session to be.
The best mobile games are just digital versions of already well established games, like sudoku or blackjack.
if the iphone shop wasnt such hot garbage i would be inclined to agree.
this sums it up
Fire Emblem is good compared to the other garbage on the play store. But generally id say never look there if you want something good, always emulate or take a handheld with you
not everything on the app store is garbage
>I haven't played ports of ps1, ps2 and ds games
Nah, mobile has some good games It's just that a lot of them need a controller + something to attach the phone/tablet onto the controller for ease of use
Every time I play one of these, I have an uncontrollable desire to just play the real games, because mobile trash is legitimately unforgivably bad.
If that was their intent, they succeeded thoroughly.
I like GO and FE. Hope that the new Animal Crossing mobile game comes soon.
Monument valley isn't good though, even if it looks nice
They sold out to embrace the current japanese generation after they lost the western market hard with their own failures.
The mobile games are shallow piss quality branded wastes of time, they haven't improved on the quality of mobile titles in the slightest yet.
>it's another"Nintendo owns Pokemon" thread
Fuck off Red
Haven't all of them been flops so far? Pokemon Go was shallow flavor-of-the-month shit, Mario couldn't keep 80% of people playing past the first paywall, and FE didn't perform well at all. Unless it's surged in popularity since release I doubt it's a success.
They've got great ideas for games but if they can't keep people playing then there's no point. That's what makes bank when it comes to mobile. They're still making games from a "we have to sell games" point of view.
What can we expect from Animal Crossing mobile?
still better than the majority of the pay to win games on the app store
geometry dash is also good
Mittomo is just a dumb game, nothing offensive about it.
Run is overpriced shit
Go is all Niantic/TPC and it shows, very slow to put out new content and nothing like real PvP to keep the game fresh.
Heroes is a good gacha but has some fundamental problems with stamina, map content, etc.
Why the fuck would you buy a controller for your phone? I don't see mobile as a platform made for "long term" games. It's just so you have something to do for a few minutes while you're waiting for something.
I only played Heroes.
Like other mobile games, it's not really that deep. It's mainly good for small bursts of game while you're on the bus or something.
It's a bit of fun, but it's no substitute for the actual game, and I have no real interest in spending money on it.
But as a small bit of fun on lunch break, it does its job.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>and friends'
And if you want to go by that logic, Nintendo doesn't really *make* Fire Emblem either.
They keep making geometry dash worse with each update, I still love it though
Nintendo owns the Fire Emblem IP, they don't own Pokemon.
android when
I never liked Miitomo, it feels kind of pointless. Mario Run was actually fun but I dropped it as soon as I saw there was a paywall. Pokemon Go was fun for about 2 days, but I realized it was shit as soon as I fought a gym. Why couldn't they just have the same gameplay as actual Pokemon games? I actually liked the Pokewalker better than this. Fire Emblem Heroes is fun other than the stamina which is a bit annoying.
I wouldn't buy a controller for my phone specifically but a lot of people buy attachments for the controllers they already own(ps3/4 xbox360/1) to play shit like gta sa or emulators on the go when they're on a plane or just too lazy to get up and turn their pc on.
mario run was pretty gud. The extra coin challenges were surprisingly challenging, and the courses had the good feeling of a 2D mario game. $10 was ass though
GO was decent, but a lot of the mons encounter rates are absurdly low, and after awhile, the gameplay gets stale. Couldve used random encoutners and a battle system lie the games had
Iwata must be rolling in his grave.
>highest quality
Acutally pokemon go fucking sucked.
It's the only one on the list that i played and it sucked ass. I can't tell you how many times it froze AFTER I caught a pokemon. That's why I stopped playing and I'm sure its the reason the hype dyed down.
Nintendo games normally aren't glitchy so it was jarring to see a nintendo game with so many problems
just a watered down version of animal crossing
Run is really good. I'm on the black coins now and it's neat how each character can do it with slightly different ways
i'm honestly disappointed by what nintendo is doing
>Miitomo
isn't really a game, it was more of a mix between being a meme making simulator and a way to push data collecting to unsuspecting idiot
>pokemon go
literaly ingress reskinned, but we are suddenly supposed to give a fuck because UUUUHHHH I GET TO PLAY POKEMON MASTER UUUUHHHH
>mario run
can't play it because it's on android, looking at the videos it looks like all the other runner game like jetpack joyride but this one is premium because.....?
>fire emblem heroes
i had hope for this one but it's just so bland, the way they mashed up all their artist, or how they decided that there should be no plot whatsoever outside of (robo voice) "LET'S ENCOUNTER ALL YOUR FAVOURITE FIRE EMBLEM CHARACTER" and in the end it plays like all other mobile rpg where grinding and pulling the right rare unit trumps actual strategy so it feels nothing like rare emblem except that there are blue haired fags everywhere
where the fuck is their creativity? they could have made a new IP and instead you get these lame as fuck copies of other mobile games that feels like ads for their real games
Miitomo was cool for like a day. Then you realize it doesn't let you post shit you want to post.
Pokemon Go had the most potential but it was a rushed product, which inevitably spelled its doom. It's really sad, because if it weren't made by monkeys it would've been the game of the century.
Super Mario run didn't catch on because of the retarded paywall, which turned normies off from the get-go. I think if they made each section like a dollar each or something it would've been more successful.
Fire Emblem Heroes is pretty cool though. It's easily got the most longevity of the four. Probably gonna be playing it for a month or so.
>mobile games that feels like ads for their real games
that's they point
they ARE ads for their real games, they also stated that the switch is the main thing for them, they are using those games to get free ads and money
WarioWare and Rhythm heaven would both translate to mobile devices perfectly. You wouldn't have to do any microtransaction garbage, just make a game and put it out for five or ten dollars.
Mobile is a lost market.
Nothing good can come out of it.
Good games don't sell.
Low effort dogshit under a popular brand and with skinner box gameplay makes millions.
I never used Miitomo enough to have a proper opinion on it since it started fucking up on me.
Haven't touched Mario run.
Niantic dropped the ball something fierce with GO. Such a novel concept ruined by being super barebones and those months when everything was fucked.
FE Heroes does its job as a condensed Fire Emblem pretty well. They need to do something about these energy requirements though. It's pretty ass not being able to do an entire chapter on a full meter, not mention energy is required for equipping skills. What the hell is up with that.
I've really enjoyed Pokemon Duel and I'm kinda sad I don't see it brought up here, but to be fair, the game had a low key worldwide release after being Japan Onry for close to a year.
but it shouldn't, you can make a real mobile game, and you should because you are fucking nintendo, instead they are subscribing to the square-enix school of thought where they release a cheap shit with the final fantasy brand slapped on it just because
Shit
Because all phone games are shit
So I guess they are making proper phone games
Why would they hire some random fucknuts to do the most important part , draw the fucking characters .
That's capitalism for ya
Miitomo
>Failed social app with it only being a mii creator on phone mixed with Quirky Questions from Tomodachi Life.
Mario Run
>Another NSMB game except without being able to stop moving forward and being overpriced at 10 dollars for 24 levels.
Pokemon Go
>Nice reskin of Ingress with Pokemon. Came out glitchy as fuck and its still glitchy as fuck. Cool initially but it's died out significantly
Fire Emblem
>Traditional gatcha game with bland story and 3 difficulties to play through them. They are as good as every other gatcha game ie. Brave Souls, Record Keeper, etc.
It's been pretty bad in terms of quality for these games but they generated a fuck ton of money with little development costs put into these games so it was definitely worth it for Nintendo.
I'm being 100% serious when I utter this
ITS
OKAY
WHEN
NINTENDO
DOES
IT
They're fine for what they are but they're just shallow mobile shit at the end of the day. As someone else said playing them just makes me want to play the real games.
Especially with FE Heroes. I'm already bored of that game, didn't even last a week for me.
Miitomo is garbage. It takes ages to buy even one piece of clothing (We're talking like half a month to get enough gold to buy one thing that's not a simple pin from the store) and the amount of tickets you get per month is so low you may as well just save up for one event and watch as 60+ tickets get drained for a gain of maybe 10ish pieces of clothing, all of which have 5+ variations of color each. Plus, the thing is just a glorified "Everybody Votes" app, except you need to add friends to see more answers to things. I've spent months just opening it to say "Nothing" for the free My Nintendo coins which, ironically, has nothing to redeem.
Pokemon Go was an okay concept but then you realize actually attempting gyms is impossible even in the sticks because some guy with his min-maxed Pokemon has decided to sit on it and check it every other day, and if you want to do that as a normal player that would take you months. I caught a whole 100ish Pokemon in a month, and nearly all of them were shitmon, and the amount of Pokeballs and candies I had even with seven Pokestops near me was laughably low. There were almost no variations in the Pokemon I could find, and when I could find one there would be just that one and it would choose to escape almost instantly, or someone else caught it. I would have to go miles out of my way just to have a chance at maybe finding something new, it just got tedious.
Haven't tried Mario Run or Fire Emblem but from what I've seen of Fire Emblem it looks like your typical Mobage that you have to invest your life into in order to even keep up with the shittiest of paid players.
Miitomo was a fucking waste of time.
Go was fine as a mobile experience.
Mario Run looks fun I'd buy it on the Switch for 5 bucks. I hate playing anything with touchscreen shitty controls.
And FE looks dumbed down as fuck.
>Gatcha shit
Yeah, no, fuck off and die.
So do you actually mean it IS ok?
Simplified versions of the actual games. Or in other words, your typical mobile game.
i don't mean that they should hire a random fucknut, but they should have sticked to one artstyle and stick to it
instead, they hired a bunch of artist and let them draw 2-3 character each instead and the result is that the game looks like a mess
look at this shit, these are character all in the same game, can you imagine if an actual release pulled this shit?
That's how these shitty gacha games work user.
Each character has different art so you'll be more incentivized to try and roll characters with the best art. Generally worse characters have worse art, but I don't know if that's the case here.
Some gachas don't do this but the majority do.
Jesus Christ, that's legit disgusting.
none of that is true user, you have no fucking idea what you're talking about.
If anything, nintendo has been losing tons of money by making their games fair when it comes to the cash shop. If mario run had cancerous mobile game mechanics like paying for worlds one at a time and stamina shit that you have to wait for in order to play it would have been more successful.
I've played heavily Pokemon Go and some Fire Emblem.
Pokemon go is an ok pedometer but a shit game that has no difficulty curve.
Fire Emblem is a gambling app with cute girls, but the game itself is not bad at all. Quite more complex that what I'd expect from a mobile app or at least that's how it looks so far to me
The game itself isn't complex at all though, it's an incredibly shallow version of FE with shitty maps, over-emphasized weapon triangle, and way less strategy overall. Not to mention broken rare 5 star characters like Takumi.
The orb prices in Fire Emblem are fucking retarded. I understand they need to go whale hunting but this is fucking retarded.
Considering the value you get out of them, paying 13 bucks to summon 5 heroes that could be all 3* or 4* garbage is fucking insane.
Shit.
Welcome to mobage, the greediest fucking things ever created among video games
And that's why you should never play mobile games.
Having to pay real money to Nook
Real money mortgage of 10 dollars
Miitomo is fun if you have friends who play it with you.
Pokemon Go was cool but I didn't get into it.
Mario hasn't come out on Andriod yet but looks fun
Fire Emblem is actually really fun.
Pokemon Go isn't a Nintendo game strictly speaking.
2/4 is decent.
Miitomo is pretty fun.
Go felt amazing at the start but now it's an extremely sad shitfest because the devs are literally incompetent.
Run is pay2play.
Fire Emblem is pretty fucking fun, surprisingly.
Mario Run is pretty amazing, put almost 20 hours in it. You poorfags should buy it.
>pokemon go
good (((idea))) but sucks. no fight mechanics, STUPID training system, fun for a week then uninstalled.
>mario
shit, tap to jump. wtf is this shit.
>fe
i enjoy gacha games (played for years puzzle and dragons and terra battle, never paid tho) but this sucks a lot.
4v4 in a small arena with basically 1-2shot kill. boring.
g
Has there ever been a fad that died as quickly as Pokemon Go?
I think it lived longer than flappy bird at least
>Miitomo
Haven't tried this yet. Don't you need friends to get any use out of it though?
>Super Mario Run
Not out for android yet it seems?
>Pokemon Go
Was pretty fun for a while. At least the collecting part and meeting random people.
>Fire Emblem Heroes
I've been trying to start the game. I rolled 2 Vyrions and one of the others boys you already have unlocked by default. I don't think my luck is suited to things like this.
I don't get why there are only 3 characters drawn well and all the other ones look like shit.
Tamagotchi
The only good GO Games are Hitman and Lara Croft GO
The design on these clashes so hard with the rest of the game.
You have shitty animu waifus like the kike girl and then badass looking well drawn characters like these
>Miitomo
Boring
>Pokemon Go
Boring
>SMR
Less boring, but too expensive
>FE Heroes
>pretty decent
I fucking love gacha based mobage (I don't spend money on them), so I'm enjoying FEH a lot. I don't see these kinds of games as scummy, they're always balanced and have enough depth so that non-paying players can complete all of the content. And making teams from random rolls is fun, like building a TCG deck. So I can't really say I agree with people who think that f2p is inherently bad.
Since Pokemon Go is included, I'd like to point out that Pokemon Duel is also a good game. Tries (and fails) to copy Clash Royale for the multiplayer, and the UI is kind of clunky, but the game itself is very good, and it has shitloads of content besides multiplayer.
>they're always balanced and have enough depth so that non-paying players can complete all of the content.
This is a blatant lie.
At least the ones I've played, this has been true. PAD, Chain Chronicle, Terra Battle and now FEH.
Stop shilling your videos you fucking nigger
I love Miitomo
Hate it
My best friend gets so into mobile games
He unironically thinks getting characters based on luck in FE Heroes is better than doing recruitment chapters in the actual games
And he's always fucking playing it. We were out for lunch and he just stared at his phone playing Fire Emblem instead of engaging in any way. It's cringey as shit too when people stare at your table as they walk by, lewd anime girls and sound effects coming from his phone
Mobile fags are the fucking worst
How much are they paying you?
>they're always balanced and have enough depth so that non-paying players can complete all of the content.
This is an absolute lie, the games that actually do that are so few and far between it's laughable. Let's use Kingdom Hearts Unchained as an example. If you don't have Alice or Namine (Paid medals) you aren't getting far in the story. Same goes for a minimum of Tinkerbell or Minnie (Also paid medals) when you need to heal. The latest story bosess outright require a Minnie with DB2 bare minimum now, and the future ones look even worse. As a free player it's insane to try and keep up, I'm just barely managing it because I spent hours grinding for things and I've played since day one.
With the last two month's worth of side content content they have required you have a general 3 attack buff which can only be gained from iKairi (Paid medal that you needed a minimum of 30,000 jewels to even get a single one which is the equivalent of around $200 or four months of saving as a free player), Sebastian (Which required paid medals to even place in the competition to get, and it's unusable without a medal for ranking high in the Coliseum which is filled with people who already have Gen 3 medals), or Ariel (Whale territory).
Free to play games are all designed to encourage purchases. That is the whole point of them, and how they all make their money. They will ramp the difficulty curb up unreasonably or give you an unreasonable grind or even just stop you from playing for a little bit until you can play again. Everything about them is meant to encourage you to spend money. either you are blatantly lying, or you are just unbelievably dense. Either way, you are supporting a game model that does not support consumers, so you should probably kill yourself before you do more damage to the industry.
>Ariel
>Whale Territory
Heh
wait, what's that video with the young Shiggy from?
>I don't see these kinds of games as scummy
That's called Stockholm Syndrome user.
Gacha are some of the scummiest games around and every part of the gameplay is designed to try and make you spend money somehow
they can't possible water it down anymore than they already have
>Miitomo - Alright
>Mario Run - Shit
>Pokemon Go - Good but overrated
>Fire Emblem Heroes - Alright
Of course they encourage spending money. But you can avoid doing so by playing well. PAD has a really strong teambuilding component not to mention being a very skill-heavy game. Just because some games do it wrong doesn't mean the system itself is inherently flawed. The only real flaw I think is general in these kinds of games is rerolling, devs should aim to avoid having to do this.
Besides, I view this as just a different business model. I don't see one as inherently better or worse than the other.
they're really good advertisements for their real games
Nintendo's got their ad game on point this time around, and doing stuff like this that isn't a traditional ad but still gets the products out in the minds of the consumers is great. The millions they're making on top of it is a nice bonus
They're not going to replace their real games with mobile stuff, unless it's shit like the Mii ""games"", but noone gives a shit about them anyway.
Do you work on the development for these games or something?
I have never seen someone defend the absolutely insane monetization tactics mobage employ.
>But you can avoid doing so by playing well.
Stopped reading there. There is no point in arguing with you if you are just going to continue spouting bullshit just for the sake of spouting bullshit,
Tell me, if the game is balanced so that free players can beat all the game's content, why is F2P bad?
because it's balanced so that while a free player can beat the game, it makes it as frustrating and annoying as possible to do so in an effort to squeeze as much money out as possible. Usually the monetization is the focus rather than the gameplay, so they tend to be shit games on top of the heavy money focus, so it's lose-lose
>Tries (and fails) to copy Clash Royale
Pokemon duel is actually based on the Trading Figure Game, which has been around for about a decade
Interestingly enough, Duel and Clash Royal were originally released within months of each other
