Even though there are guides on how to quickly complete the Shogi requirements, it would still feasibly be learnable and playable.
When you get a hang on Mahjong, however, it's still 10+ hours (so far) of hoping luck is on your side.

If your hand has no notable fancy points, then what you want (when stealing pieces from the other players) is not have any dragon tiles, any wind tiles, and any 1's or 9's, make a hand with only tiles 2~8 and you'll get a "all simples" han
If you have a pair of dragons or from a wind that's either the round wind or the wind on your name then you can also call Pon and it'll be a guaranteed han
Beware that doras doesn't count for that

You can only call Riichis when your hand is closed
Some times it's worth calling tiles, if you don't really need many points and you have a pair of dragons there's nothing wrong in calling a dragon to guarantee some sweet points, and some hands you might want to even if it's non-concealed form is worth less, like full straights and the three dragons
But mostly yes, you do want to keep your shit concealed
You couldn't call any tsumos because your hands were shit and were worth nothing aside from the bottom one which was worth a han because you had no honor tiles nor any 1 or 9, but since you're playing with default rules you needed 2 hans, if you keep your shit concealed and call riichi that's automatically a han right there

Yep. Both parts were fantastic, but I felt so compelled with Majima's story because we finally got to see another side of him before he became the Mad Dog.

That being said, I don't know what I would do if I didn't get the encounter finder from MJ for Kiryu. Real Estate would have been an even bigger bitch.
