Is this trilogy worth playing even if I already know that the ending sucks ass?
Is this trilogy worth playing even if I already know that the ending sucks ass?
Dont know about the first, Its a bit wonky and really dated, I'd say start with the second one and if you like it move to the third.
No. Forget the IP exists.
Yes.
The fact that people are still pissed about the ending is testament in some weird game to how good the games are. People actually cared, hence the anger.
Even if you're unsure, the trilogy goes for like 5 bucks on key sites.
definitely
Yes, definitely, everything except the ending is pretty great
Majority of Sup Forums will tell you no because they hate everything.
I will tell you yes but don't bother with 1. Just play 2 and 3. They are enjoyable games and you'll like them if you don't listen to Sup Forums's opinion.
Fuck off, the first is the best one
I was like you, and heard all the bad shit about 3 and didn't play it for years. Then I got the triogly and went into 3 with zero expectations, but it was actually decent. yes, the story was garbage, but the gameplay was easily an improvement over ME2, and the multiplayer was GOAT.
just give it a try and try to ignore the shitty ending
Mod it on PC.
>don't bother with 1
No its not, Its a decent game but between the mako and the shitty item system its the worst, you're just looking through nostalgia glasses.
> don't bother with 1
Not cawadoody-like and cinematic enough for babby?
ME3 is actually the best in the franchise.
No, I'm really not, I played all 3 for the first time shortly after 3 came out. 1 is the best one by far
It was just a bit of a meme. Thanks for those YOUs I knew I would get.
if you're a patrician -- play 1 and ignore the rest
if you're a pleb -- play them all or just 2 and 3
If you really think that it's just the ending that sucks ass then i really don't think anyone can help you.
ME2 won't include the hundred or so bucks of DLC.
ME3 was turd and the ending screen was "BUY OUR DLC!"
So probably not, nah.
I'd say you could honestly just play 1. If you wanted more, 2 and 3 are there but I liked ME best when ME2 and ME3 weren't part of that universe or experience; the sequels felt less alien and ominous which I think were major feelings and themes about the first game that I wished they'd kept to.
Like, in the first ME, who the FUCK were the Prothians and who the fuck knows what's out there man... None of that mystery or the hostility of space seems present in ME2 or ME3 despite it being full of realized cosmic enemies and dangers.
Mass Effect 1 is one of the greatest games to release in the past decade.
ME2 is okay, especially if you like more characters. However, some mechanics were dumb
ME1 is amazing and ME2 is good. So just play those 2 and watch the endings of 3 on youtube.
None of your choices really matter anyways
3 is probably the best shooter out of them all, but it's so intricately tied to the expectation of it being a conclusion and the matrix of an entire trilogy's contingent outcomes that it's really just a failure regardless of how nice it looks or plays or was written.
The Mako is great, fuck off and learn to read the terrain around you you fucking shitter.
>the ending sucks ass
Everything went downhill, not just the ending
>The Mako
All vehicle segments in the ME series are terrible. They all felt like a waste of time.
ITT: Romney won in 2012
1 and 2 are fun as fuck
>"BUY OUR DLC!"
To be fair RPGs often have you buying the real ending with the expansion/DLC, just think back to BG2. But that wasn't even ME3s greatest sin. Quest design, world reactivity, seeing your choices not doing jack shit while Hudson promised you'd get to see them actually affecting the story etc. The ending was only one of many flaws.
I think there's legit disappointment, but then there's also the fervor of ripping something to shreds ala Tortanic that I'd bet MOST posts on Sup Forums about ME3 come from.
>the story was garbage in this RPG
>first game explicitly states that attacking the citadel is the top priority when invading the galaxy
> starts the invasion with Earth
>#SaveTheEarthPreorderNow
3 was shit from the very start
If you played the first two, especially if u played the first and best, don't waste time and money on the 2nd or 3rd, especially 3rd.
First and best or Last and worst.
ME2 and 3 are not RPGs really. ME1 probably isn't too, but I'd stand up for that one more.
>don't play ME 1
it's vidyakino though, not even memeing, it's fucking great.
Did you seriously just imply that BG2: Throne of Bhaal was as fucking cheap and short as ME3's DLCs? Did you really?
No but that you wouldn't get the whole game, the whole story, until you've bought and played the expansion.
No you asshole, he said the endings were locked behind bonus content you needed to buy.
Let me spoil the ending for you so you don't have to play through 3 games to get this SHIT
Play 1, then 2 if you want more but go into it knowing that they streamlined and third person shooter'd up the formula. It feels bad but is still a fun game if you want more Mass Effect, you get new telekinesis powers and stuff.
I never played 3 so my advice is to make the choices leading to your own death at the end of 2 and leave it there.
Did you even pay attention to the first game?
>ignore the best entry in the series
The fuck you say?
I bought it on a whim because the PS3 version was only like eight bucks for all three, and boy the time has not been gentle for the first one. Game's boring and its world is generic as fuck.
They're all bad games. ME1 is only kind of interesting because there's not much else in the way of space RPGs.
Anyone who says "the ending is the only thing wrong with ME3" is an obvious drone because the game is unplayably bad from the start.
I loved 1
I liked 2
I didn't play 3 because I STILL don't have an Origin Account :D
Do you genuinely think people shit on ME3 just because shitting on something is fun?
Yes. The ending for 3 might have been a huge letdown, but the individual games are still really good, albeit the first one feels pretty dated and clunky. Just don't expect a big payoff for all the small choices you make along the way.
The first game is worth it.
The others don't exist.
Play as renegade!
why does it matter ? most of it was retconned
Yeah? I don't think it's fun, because I think that's not healthy but I am CERTAIN people exist who claim that activity to be one of the few things they find joy in, even if they may not realize it.
>morality system
>a meany head hero
>a nice guy hero
Where is the " Fuck sentient life! Aid the Reapers! " timeline.
Just play 3 because 3 has the best love interest in the series.
You're objectively wrong, but there's nothing really wrong with that. People like different things, and that's good.
I have an alternative hypothesis: people shit on the game because the game is bad.
good for yoU!
that's the game over timeline
Just play Warframe, it's the closest game to Mass effect and it's free.
Too bad that nice gameplay is hampered by F2P grindan trash.
>this guy doesn't know the Mako has a fucking cannon
user, blasting geth into the air along with their cover was F U N.
too bad the rest of the shitty cover shooter is ass
>he didn't play as an adept in ME1
Combat is better in 2/3 but the level designs are boring corridor shit for the most part.
Seconded. It was a good series, last ten minutes aside.
