Games that you like but everyone hates

Games that you like but everyone hates.

I like the soundtrack.

Why do people hate this anyway?
Gameplay? Goddamn Tails Doll?

...

This game is amazing
Even the rainbow road rippoff was alright

Unironically has a better intro song than anything Crush40 has ever released.

not an argument.

I've seen a lot of people hate it for its control scheme, however I believe once you get the hang of it it works perfectly fine.

Sonic R
Sonic Heroes
Sonic Advance 2
Sonic Advance 3
Sonic Unleashed

Somebody stop me already

I really don't get the hate for the game. It's not unplayable, just mediocre. For the time, it was likely an average racing game with highly marketable mascots in it. As far as games from that era are concerned, Yoshi's Story is much more mediocre.

This is correct. People didn't know how to make hard-turns using Ctrl and would just try to turn normally to get around a 90-degree or 180-degree turn. They also hated the gates being ring-locked and having to get 1st place to keep the Chaos Emerald, and then people made the stupid Tails Doll creepypasta.

Unironically my favourite racing series

Sunset Overdrive was pretty good too

The problem is that you can 100% it in like 20 minutes. There need to be like 3 times the amount of tracks, hate to bring up the whole Mario vs Sonic debate but MK64 was much better because of track variation.

I recognize its flaws but to call it out a flat-out bad game is just stupid.

Doesn't' the game only have like 5 stages? Even disregarding everything else that's horribly wrong with it, that's one of the worst parts about it. How the fuck are you going to have a racing game with such a pitiful amount of tracks.

It is though.
>That framerate
>All those fucking collectables
>Fucking huge land to traverse with slow-moving characters
>All that backtracking

The embarrassing thing is that the N64 carts had about 1/200th the space as a CD did, yet Mario Kart had at least 11 more tracks AND a battle mode. Everything about mario kart other than graphics was better (sonic R looks good for the time).

>OST has Work It Out and Number One
>Super Sonic Racing and Can You Feel the Sunshine are the only songs anyone remembers

even the people who "like" the soundtrack have shit taste.

I don't mind backtracking, personally.

Yeah the framerate is shit and the only character that is decent to travel with is Diddy, but I think the music, the bosses, the combat, the mini games and the variety of stuff kinda fills in all the cracks for me.

I'm not gonna be one of those idiots who says it's better than SM64 or even Banjo Kazooie, but I still love the game almost 20 years later.

Why the hell was the Sonic R soundtrack such a fucking departure from all the other Sonic games at the time anways. I kind of still can't believe they went with that style of music for the game. Have they ever actually went into detail about this?

House music with booming diva vocals was big in the 90s.

What are you talking about everybody like FORT-za. It's one of the 3 pillars keeping Bone Zone relevant.

Dark Souls 2

It's slippery as fuck, the characters are incredibly unbalanced, only like 6 courses, gameplay is shallow, there's very little to do outside of unlocking racers, the ost is unfitting for a fucking Sonic game, only enjoyed because it's meme trash.
I mean it's fun to mess around with, but be real user the game was an unfinished, unbalanced, rushed piece of shit.

Donkey Kong 64 is a great game hindered by dozens of dumb decisions.

Sega of America had been pushing for that type of music for a long time, and only got a chance to do so here because Sega of Japan had almost nothing to do with R.
