Why did the Neo Geo fail again?
Why did the Neo Geo fail again?
Talking Classics thread?
youtube.com
Too fucking expensive.
>neogeo
>fail
are you retarded or just underage
>$800 system
>$200 games
>the year was 1992
no clue OP
$200 in 1992 was like $40 today idiot.
I've never met someone who owns one, & all arcades are dead, so I haven't seen an arcade cabinet either.
>fail
It wasn't even intended to be sold as a home console. It was marketed as a rental unit.
This is some quality bait because I almost responded seriously to it.
$200 in 1992 is $350 in today's money.
sauce: dollartimes.com
It didn't fail, it did exactly what it set out to do which was to offer arcade perfect games at home. Nobody ever expected it to sell NES numbers.
Hang yourself OP
I've never played Neo Geo. It feels weird playing something made before you were born.
don't bother correcting him, he's a retarded aussie
hopefully the heat wave kills them all off
Is it really a fail, though? Seems like a moderate success to me.
>lasted 20 years
>people make games on it to this day, just not officially supported
>there are still neo geo cabs around in random ass swap meets and laundry places
Only the home console. Arcade cabs made mad money on Neo Geo games.
Then do yourself a favor and educate yourself. The AES was niche but the MVS sold pretty well on arcades.
>As of March 1997, the Neo Geo and the Neo Geo CD combined had sold 980,000 units worldwide
honestly...that's pretty amazing considering the awful price tag.
Was it the Neo Geo pocket that took something like eight batteries to play for 30 minutes? I remember playing a Sonic game on one that my rich cousin owned.
You know they went bankrupt right?
You're thinking of the Game Gear.
Game Gear
that fucker was so ahead of its time, it makes the vita look like a GBA
That's it. I couldn't remember it for the life of me.
Does that include the arcade machine and consoles or just the consoles?
>>there are still neo geo cabs around in random ass swap meets and laundry places
That's because they're built like fucking safes. I challenge you to find me a broken Neo Geo arcade cabinet.
>play metal slug on fightcade
>that fps
i dont remember the cab having low frame rate
The Neo Geo Pocket Color lasted FORTY HOURS on 2 AA batteries. You fucking Lie. Had Pokemon come out & killed every other handheld SNK may have not gone bankrupt like they did.
And not because the Neo Geo was a failure, but rather corporate mistakes and inability to come with something new in the 2000s. Neo Geo was what kept alive SNK in the 90s you idiot.
>inability to come with something new in the 2000s
When did the Hyper Neo Geo 64 come out?
are you really not gonna post the song?
The better question is why did the PC-Engine turned to the Turbografx-16?
Look at this, its so compact and looks so right
>Buy a neo geo cartridge from mexico
>They shipped it in a tampon box
>Doesn't boot up properly
>Open it to clean the contacts
>Full of Ants
>Ended up being a bootleg too
I don't know what I expected.
I have no idea why I fucking laughed at this as hard as I did.
maybe its because im half asleep.
