Shipped 2.5 mil on launch

>Shipped 2.5 mil on launch.
>Clearly undershipped and is already shipping 500k more.

Nice to see a good and risky game selling for once. Capcom deserves it.

>It's risky to make the game RE fans have been screaming for instead of the action-adventure garbage of the last decade

Ok I'm thrilled we got something that resembles proper Resident Evils. But it ultimately fell short of the original glory and I think they can build on it.

But is it really "risky"? To make a game using the formula you know will sell a guaranteed 1 million copies?

Theres nothing risky about RE7. It does everything thats been really popular in horror games nowadays. Risky would have been making another game similiar to RE6

RE6 sold millions.

Yes it's risky.

Look at RE6 sales, shit sold like fucking bananas
Look at ORC and UC, ORC did alright for sales and UC tanked so god damn hard

Chances are RE8 will be like 6

SHIPPED

This.

And gets shit on by retards to this day.

Yeah? The game still received bad reviews, sold below Capcoms expectations, and has become infamous for being pretty shit.

Below expectations doesn't mean it wasn't very profitable and kept Capcom happily in business.

know the difference.

> Chances are RE8 will be like 6
I doubt it unless RE7 really tanks on sales from here out.

they should do a sale on it right now on steam while there is still hype for it.

RE7 was extremely risky.

RE5 and RE6 are Capcom's best selling games of all time, there are people well into their 20's who's first Resident Evil was 4. RE4-6 and the movies is literally what Resident Evil is to most people. Action rollercoasters with mutated monsters.

The fact that so many people are pissed about RE7 being a "Outlast clone" or whatever is living proof RE7 was risky. Capcom basically risked the majority of their RE fanbase with RE7.

>SHIPPED

Learn how shipping/sold works, the fact that they are already shipping more means retailers are burning through their stock.

If RE7 wasn't selling Capcom wouldn't be shipping more copies 2 weeks later.

It's not like we disappeared user. We loved the series. We hated the dudebro wiggle and hammer it became. They decided to make proper RE games again so we all bought in.

>risky

How is copying every popular horror convention from the last several years risky? Not that that's bad. It's a good game. Easily the best since 4, but it's a pretty obvious rip off of games like Outlast and Amnesia.

>UC tanked hard
>a rail shooter (niche genre) developed by niche developers for a niche market tanked hard
What are the odds?

Risky for capcom, those fags stuck with mikami's RE4 style for more than 10 years because they dont have talent whatsoever

That's like saying "How is turning Call of Duty into Madden risky?"

Just because both are popular doesn't mean it isn't risky. You're risking your established fanbase by drastically changing it. If risk weren't a factor then games like Medal of Honor being turned into a CoD4 knockoff would have been a surefire hit, but that game bombed and killed the franchise.

>start Madhouse playthrough
>have the two items from previous playthrough that make you invincible while blocking if you have both of them in your inventory
>having fun stunlocking Jack with the circular saw whenever he shows up while doing item runs to clear out the main house
>encounter first crawler
>leaps at me
>take damage

What is this bullshit? I can see the fat molder puke attack not counting because it's not physically touching you to do it, but how is the crawler's leap attack not negated?

Wrong UC

Umbrella Corps is the one that tanked
Dead on day 3

Game is currently sitting at 3 million with capcom planning at hitting 4 by the end of march. If it hits this mark it will do what RE6 didn't and meet expectations. Note that fell about 2 million short of its goal due to a massive drop off after its launch week. 6 was also the largest project in the company's history with a staff of 600 plus working on it. Less has been sunk into 7 so profit is easier to make. 6 was bloated and costly in more ways than one.

meh better than outlast or all those slender/fnaf autism garbage kids enjoy. I rather have re7 or condemned formula games than that autism garbage.

>burning through their stock
Okay, because there's absolutely no chance that they may have overestimated the amount of continued sales.

>mfw when pre-HD capcom started experimenting with RE4 5 years after RE1

6 also launched with a bonus mode and has more replayability than VII.

>risky
>following the biggest trends of the last 5 years
>risky
Think for one fucking second user

I'm pissed that Capcom hasn't made use of that zeppelin idea.

more replayability doesn't matter when the game is shit

>hurr, the game is shit anyway
If all games were judged solely by their negative aspects, we'd have barely any good games.

It's not as if VII is without faults.

dumb animu poster trying to look smart is the worst shit ever

The
game
is
shit

>risky

It sold because it is another first person horror game with the RE brand slapped on it. Not to mention the PT demo drawing attention to it

>a risky game selling for once
You do realise there are TWENTY FOUR other Resident Evil games out right now right? A series this prolific cant be called risky

Jesus that'd be like saying the next Ass Creed or fucking Mario game was a risky choice

Not him, but it wasn't risky at all.
>make a generic horror fps
>add VR gimmick
>connect it to RE through a weak ending and some files
>slap a "VII" on it even though it's a spin-off, at best
Note "generic" and "fps". If those words don't attract normies/retards, "VR horror" certainly will.

>It sold because it is another first person horror game with the RE brand slapped on it.

If RE7 wasn't called Resident Evil people would just say "this is just First Person Resident Evil!" instead.

Quality rebuttal.

Or Outlast, or Amnesia or...

It was a little risky because some RE fags cant into first person

can anyone hook me up some porn/hentai of marguerite
it's for a friend i swear

Hey wait, give me your gun.

>"VR horror" certainly will.

Yeah man you can't get more normie than VR.

All those chads at my college playing it with their girlfriends really annoy me. Wish I had a headset so I could get some girls too.

0.30 dollars have been deposited into your account.

Why would you say that? There are plenty of first-person spin-offs as well as CVX's Battle Mode.

People don't necessarily have an issue with first-person RE, just when it's a mainline title.

You'll take this pocket knife, and you'll like it.

I'm almost certain you're being sarcastic, but it's true. Normies love vidya gimmicks.

>People who are angry about RE7's direction saying the game "isn't risky".

Yeah you sure convinced me.

To be fair, I did work with that shank.

Please tell us why it is.

Also, you can't realistically expect a police officer to hand over his weapon to someone he just met. All that gear hanging off his belt is department issue, and he'd get in big trouble if he lent any of it to someone, and they disappeared with it.

>Please tell us why it is.

Because it pissed off you, and a million of your ilk.

>let me just completely ignore any valid points and post a meme image, that'll get 'em

Ad hominem isn't a valid argument, user.

>valid points

never saw one other than "hurrdurr it's not michaelbay boulderpunchin any more"

wow what blunder, re7 is really the blunder of the century isn't it?

You must be blind or a really shitty troll.
1/10 made me respond.

fuck off newfag

HOW DOES NINTENDO KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH IT? ITS JUST A PLUMBER THAT HOPS!?

>Ad hominem isn't a valid argument, user.

Tell that to all the shareholders who jumped ship a week after RE7 launched. I'm sure they will be very pleased to know the game wasn't actually risky at all.

well you don't know how the market works lol

And you don't know how investors think lol.

It's the best selling game in the franchise even eclipsing 5 which sold better than 4.

7 is shit now fuck out of her marketer-kun

sure I do. Stock fluctuates all the time, and ofc as the saying goes, buy on hype, sell on news. A dip in the shares is nothing to write home about

BTFO

Daily reminder that ethan is the first high functioning autist protagonist in a tripple A videogame.

>sure I do. Stock fluctuates all the time, and ofc as the saying goes, buy on hype, sell on news. A dip in the shares is nothing to write home about.

So you're saying RE7 was a pump and dump, which basically means you agree with me.

>you're saying RE7 was a pump and dump

lol no I'm not

Nah, he's just understandably freaked the fuck out, because he's being held hostage by a bunch of cannibal swamp rats. Fine motor skills disappear when you're on an adrenaline high, I imagine speech suffers too.

>risky game
>a proven concept with a known name attached to it

RE7 needed to be like x2 longer to be comparable to RE4/5/6 in content.

They honestly should have made the main house way bigger.

nah

It's meant to be more like RE1. RE1 was of similar length, and also had unlockables for beating the game in under X amount of hours. Dat sweet sweet Barry custom Samurai Edge. I wish some company made that compensator so I could have one of my own.

Should have left the tanker out.
That was my only problem with the game.
Also anyone reminded of splatterhouse 2?
The game felt very splatterhouseesque.

I fucking hate re7

why?

Capcom spent hundreds of millions making it and even when it sold 5-6 million copies, it still wasn't enough to make a profit.

That's why AAA game development is so unsubstainable.

In his defense, he did lose a lot of blood and had his arm cut off and then crudely sewn back on

He'd also been infected by psycho cannibal fungus as well. It's unclear how long it takes before someone is susceptible to Eveline's control, even if it's only little stuff, like making them unable to answer questions clearly.

>that kid who copies everyone else, but when there's nothing to copy, he doesn't know what to do except what he's copied
