The whole build can't just "die" unless you're ridiculously unlucky and there was a short and everything actually burned at the same time.
Find what's broken and replace it.

Not sure what went wrong. Taking it in to see what's busted

Make sure to bring boxes and any warranty if you had it.

I got very lucky with that when I had issues on a old rig.

>tfw I've never had a PC I guilt die

I've had a motherboard die, a power supply go bad, a hard drive die and I've bricked windows on at least 10 different occasions. My processor and ram never give me problems.

>had a pc for 5 years
>only replaced psu
Kek

I haven't touched the insides of a PC in years, but is it really that hard to isolate a problem? Does everyone just throw old PCs away without keeping a few parts for emergencies?

How do you fucking do it, the only time a managed to get PC die is when I screwed mobo directly to case without stands aka full retard mode

>my autist friend didn't listen to me when I told him to buy all new parts
>bought a bunch of shit second hand
>his liquid cooling system died the other day during a LAN party
>I have to try and fix it for him because he's too stupid to work on his own machine

You don't have to be smart to build and use a high end computer. Just not literally autistic.

>PC I built almost 5 years ago now still works like brand new.

Did you buy a shit Power supply? You CANNOT go cheap on that part user

>liquid cooling system
WHY

>just pc things

Thats why i game on consoles

>mfw built PC in 2011
>only added a bit more RAM and a better GPU
>works like a charm on any game I care

you probably just bought an underpowered powersupply

flip your puter around and sniff its powersupply hole, if it smells burnt look at your mobo and gpu specs and buy a more appropriate one

He bought basically what was left of my buddy's old machine after he built a smaller form factor computer with new parts. Included was one of those Corsair liquid cooling units.

I don't see anything wrong with using liquid vs. a fan, but I will say that I think my friend thought liquid cooling was objectively "better" somehow. When I told him his computer still expelled heat just like one with a CPU fan does he looked at me like I was stupid and I had to explain that heat can't just go nowhere.

Tfw never built a pc in 20 years of PC gaming.

Don't see the point, i just replace parts and then dump the whole thing once motherboard gets old.

>I haven't "built" a computer, I've just swapped out parts for new parts

That's what building, in essence, is you autist, you just didn't order them all at once.

the computer I built 2 years ago actually blew up while i was making it because i fucked up

I have no idea how this thing works after that

>but is it really that hard to isolate a problem
No
>Does everyone just throw old PCs away without keeping a few parts for emergencies
Only people who can't tell apart RAM sticks and ram as a siege weapon do that.

>have laptop
>drinking water
>accidentally spill it on the laptop
>it fried the thing

Does the power jump on or does it stay clod completely?

Yeah, because consoles are totally inmune to problems.

Post your face when you ordered the parts, got them delivered, put them together and everything just werks

I was sweating like mad when assembling it though

I'm buildan PC's since the 90's so I always got tons of spare parts. Most important thing you need is a spare PSU because that's the shit I had most dying on me next to disk drives and HDD's.

Put it together on Tues. Ran fine all week. Stopped working yestetday.

WTF I hate PC now
check if your cables are inserted firmly first

>built pc in 2011 for $400
>it's starting to show its age with some games
What GPU did you upgrade to?

with that core i3 2120 you should just throw it in thrash and build new one from scratch

You never heard other people say "the console I just bought died". Really makes you think.

Post you part list

I have. The power brick nearly started a fire too.

>RRoD

>nearly started a fire
Damn.

>''game'' as a verb

Good. Fag.

>my buddy's day 1 xbone destroyed his discs and then died
>my ex-GFs PS4 AND PS4 Pro both had heating issues to the point where they began melting
>my buddy's wii u was DoA
>the entire Red Ring fiasco with the 360
>my friend RMA'd PS3s because Sony kept sending him duds

My PCs on the other hand have never had any problems other than ONE HDD in 6 years.

You heard it a shit ton with early 360s you revisionist duck.

I was lucky enough to have a good one. Bought it used too.

>top 3 standoffs were stripped when I got the case
>too lazy to refund it because I've already sent back a case
No problems yet after 5 months, I've heard the mobo might warp but it appears fine. I'm just going to keep it like this for a few months then get a new case when I get some money.

>not refunding a defective product

Real cuck hours

>he fell for the PC meme
Dude just buy a console, a bundle is like $300 and just work out of the box

I think we're going to be alright boys! I'm just a retard.

What was wrong user?

>Not buying every console along with a PC so you have access to everything

I thought you guys liked video games or something

Idk. They plugged it here and it started fine. Maybe a surge protector went off or a messed up cord or something. I'm dumb. Going to go home and drink a lot.

When I built my first I plugged into an outlet that just so happened to have died right then and there and freaked out.

I plugged it in in my bedroom later to try again and it Just Worked(tm)

>being too """"lazy"""" to put something in a box
you need to go back

I had the same problem.

One day I woke up and my SSD was no longer on the boot list. Tried so much, panicked, then realized somehow that the power cable to it had popped out.

WHOOPS!

>built my pc using school technology grant in 2009
>have since replaced the original RAM i got from Best buy, the power supply, wiped off and switched the thermal paste for a "quality" one, upgraded my Graphics card to a gtx 960 from a gtx 470, and got a faster hard drive.
>in the same time, my console of choice, the ps3 has had 2 new revisions from my original phat ps3, a ps4, a ps4 pro, and ps4 slim.
>my 3ds has similarly had 1 upgrade so far too
>wii u needed an external hard drive add on
>xbone still need to be bought.

I feel relieved for you. The PC I built a couple years ago is going strong but if anything broke I wouldn't be too motivated to fix it.

In Poland if you buy PC parts from X-Kom you can ask them to put it all together and they'll build a rig out of them for freebie

Yeah. First build, paniced last night. The sassy black lady complimented my graphics card at the store.

newfag

>You open the PSU
>Lubricate the fan
>You remount it in the wrong way
>Now a noise in cabinet that is overpowered by just turning music on
>Too lazy to bother to open it to turn it around

>Buy PC parts
>Too dumb to put it together
>Call over nerdy IT friend to hang out
>Give him 2 grams of weed to build my PC for me
>He does it and we spark up afterwards

i'd do it for free, it's fun.

No offense but building a PC is not difficult, at all.

It can however be kinda time consuming if it's your first go at it.

Still, I'd totally build someone's pc for 2g, I enjoy that shit and free weed is free weed.

In Russia salesman started telling me they can't put parts together because my MSI mobo is incompatible with certain videocards, intel wants to dicontinue celeron CPU brand and it's incompatible with certain version of MS Office.
They could only assemble it if I picked gigabyte instead of MSI, which they happen to be the official dealership of.

My PC's I assembled are fine still.
Might be bad luck.

>tfw always bullied PC by making fun of it for being a micro build
>Came home to find it hanging from a rope

>coffee= leaves?

srly fuck white people

IT LIVES

>finish building PC
>wont turn on
>spend 20 minutes troubleshooting and reseating everything
>still nothing
>take a break and get something to eat
>come back
>press power button
>turns on

magic

>>my buddy's day 1 xbone destroyed his discs and then died
>day 1
sorry about your retarded friend.

wat

verb (used without object), gamed, gaming.
19.
to play games of chance for stakes; gamble.
20.
to play computer or video games.

almost as good as a pc then

>intel wants to dicontinue celeron CPU brand
They have been wanting to do that for a decade.
And it has been like that for ages.

>the consumer should just assume products won't work on day 1 and not buy anything until the second wave
>c-c-c-consoles are better

Consolekeks everything

I just turned 360 degrees and walked away.
No problem after I build PC from those parts ever since.
Fucking Intel removed option to install Windows from USB on that chipset and installing it without DVD drive was hell though

he's talking about the tea, jamal

>>the consumer should just assume products won't work on day 1 and not buy anything until the second wave

>people do this
>microshit stops releasing broken consoles day 1
>problem is solved

go be an anime nigger elsewhere.

>fuck white people
>there are no white people in the comic
bottom panel is a muslim and top left is not white due to tumblr nose

Could you imagine being so stupid you get confused by a stupid fuckin tumblr webcomic?

shh, let the dumb nigger continue proving that black people can't read

>many friends tell me their PC just "died" after they took their PC apart for cleaning or w/e

>it's literally 100% always because they didn't insert the ram sticks with a shit ton of force

OP try pressing those fuckers in their as tight as you can. Guaranteed fix.

died because no gaem ?

>game comes out on consoles
>ITS SHIT
>game comes to steam 6 years later
>THANKS FOR BETA TESTING
>actually it's really good guys!
Explain this

>tfw my LG tv I was using as main monitor simply decided to not turn on anymore

Its like 2 years old so I have no idea whats the problem.
Apparently HDMI can cause some shit.

6+ years on 2500k/6950 here, the card is showing it's age but I play mostly indie pixelshit anyways

LG is shit tier hardware user
You know things are really fucked when company has to change its brand name

>You don't have to be smart to build and use a high end computer
>I buy new parts or old parts from some shady people with no rep that break

Platform war horseshit is mired in kneejerk spite and unfounded disgust. Pretty simple.

You clearly didn't build it yourself if you can't troubleshoot it yourself

I've built 2 PC's, and this has happened both times. Fuck knows what it is.

My PS1 died and my 360 died

anti power surge protection in PSU or somethin

Oh...

my ps1 laser died after a year of owning it when I was a kid, the first models, the square ones were pretty faulty. The xbox and ps3 had huge issues as well.
If you're going to shitpost at least try to hide that you're and uderage faggot

If you replace a tire on a car you didn't build the car Jamar

>build pc
>never had problems
>except those fucking wacky usb ports on the backside that sometimes loose connection

Console fags will defend this

i got a 1070

>pc won't boot
>fans and lights on the mobo light up, so i assume it wasn't the psu
>check basically every other part

>turns out it was the fucking psu afterall

>playing game with high system requirements
>PC just up and shuts down with no warning

Is this a PSU issue?

Because Sup Forums listens to those idiotic "console performance for lesser price" and ends up with shit tier PSUs. Meanwhile PSU should be the most quality part of the PC.

>tfw rubbed my graphics card on carpet and it still works perfectly

>The computer I just built died
Then how are you posting this?

>food analogies

Probably yes. It's a power failure symptom when the computer just shuts down. An alternative possibility could be that you ain't getting enough power from the wall, but that's super unlikely. Only happened to me because I had a low powered UPS between the wall and my PC so I overloaded the UPS.

So yeah, it's most likely the PSU.

I once didn't get a picture on the screen, scared the shit out of me. But as usual it was just me being a retard, one of my graphics card aux power cables was loose.
