Something like Splinter Cell Conviction or Hitman Absolution is far closer to John Wick than Max Payne 3. They are also much better games than Max Payne 3.

Stranglehold was one of the many enormous commercial failures that lead to Midway going out of business.

Blame the market who didn't buy the game, not the "chicken shit devs" who don't think it's a good idea to flush tens of millions of dollars down the toilet.

It wasn't a failure though. It got featured on various journalists fronts, both magazine and tv review spots. G4 was adamant about saying how fun it was. Midway went out of business for its own reasons, likely to do with upper heads squandering money and consoles pushing more budgets.

So I like how you try to put the blame on the consumers for something Sony and M$ did. protip: the PS2, Xbox, and the PS3 killed hundreds of gaming companies over one year simply because it was becoming too expensive to do HD titles.

I like MP3, but I must say this user is right about that. Conviction and Absolution is Operator gaming at it's best. Sam Fisher even hold his fucking pistol like John Wick, he use even the exact same fighting style.

It's not as good as the first one, but it's got a few more comedic beats and crazy shit. Also fleshes out the world of assassins much more.

I despised the movie, it was nothing short of a power fantasy for teenagers promoting violence as usual. But i would like a recommendation for a game that gives similar vibes because games, even if they feature violence, are ultimately meant to have fun.

If this was MP3 there would be 5 cutscenes, one for every door.

yeah its pretty rad. pacing is a little iffy in the beginning, but then it hits its stride with lots of more colorful and beautiful shots like the club from the first

Conviction is basically a Jason Bourne game. Like yeah, the combat has a stealth slant to it, but the game itself still involves direct combat. There isn't really any actual "stealth" in the game, just misdirection to confuse and flank your enemies.

Max Payne gunplay plus a proper melee system and Metal Gear style bosses in between is my absolute dream game.

Sadly, the closest I will ever get to having all three of those at the same time is probably the final boss battle of Metal Gear Solid 3.

I vaguely remember a game that could've been Stanglehold but I'm not sure, can you do the matrix bullet dodge thing in Stranglehold?

Hitman 2016 is a ton of fun, and the Paris map in particular nails the John Wick A e s t h e t i c, but good fucking luck if you ever find yourself outnumbered in a gunfight in that game.

It's alright. It caught shit when it released because it got hyped to hell and back. Everyone said it was going to make Max Payne look bad by comparison, GotY for sure, etc. When it ended up just being okay, a lot of people were let down and said it sucked
