What went wrong?
What went wrong?
Phoenix and Franziska getting cut during development
it was released on the wii
wii
it wasn't muh vel
It was on the wii
no sequel
Zero and shit online (for the most part)
Needs a rerelease
>B-But Nintendo
Everytime
It was a Wii exclusive
Fuck Zero, Volnutt was better
They fucked up the US release by getting rid of all the music for the character themes.
>it was on the best selling console of the 7th generation
what's the problem?
Nothing went wrong. It should have been ported to other consoles.
>shit online (for the most part)
Eh, Friend codes sucked ass, but I experienced better connections than I did in SFIV or even MvC3 for the most part.
Nothing this was the best crossover since Capcom vs SNK 2. Whoever was in charge of this is better than that faggot Ono.
Most of the Tatsunoko characters are from series that don't exist in outside of Japan or weren't popular outside of Japan. There was no reason for an international release.
>What went wrong?
It'll never get a sequel with all the NuTatsunoko stars like the Crowds crew and Leopard added in.
>Wii
>No ones fightsticks were compatible
>Swallowed by SF4 hype
Also
>No marketing
>If you're not Japanese the game was Capcom vs Literally Who
Tatsunoko isn't a known company outside Japan
The system is a lot better than Marvel 3 but lacks the flash
Franny would have been awesome.
Capcom were foolish fools.
Do you really not understand how retarded it is to release a fighting game for the Wii when the target audience preferred the PS3 at that time?
Their characters are known to an older crowd but the real problem was they didn't use any of the newer series they have
They're right
TvC would still be played as a sidegame at mahvel tournaments if it was on the PS3/360
Nothing. It was an awesome game, and I'm surprised Capcom even brought it overseas. Hell I remember reading an article years ago that they were surprised at how much it sold stateside.
>mfw this game made me a Tatsunoko fanboy
I love it to death but I will admit that being stuck on the Wii cut off some of the "target audience" (read: faggots) and MvC3 being right around the corner didn't really help it either.
Its funny there's obviously an audience for even the most off the wall stuff even on Nintendo platforms but no one wants to even try
It was worth the extra characters desu
Thank god for that, Crowds is an embarrassment Yoru no Yatterman was okay but suffered from a lot of filler and a terrible love triangle
no hakushon in the english version
Yatterslut is better
2v2
yatterman is actualy pretty well known where i live
>what is attach rate
2v2 is better than 3v3.
Though 1v1 is still best.
>Capcom lobbied hard for a Samurai Pizza cats rep
>Tatsunoko told them to fuck off
Still hurts to this day
Why were they so anal about not allowing them in? Wouldnt it have been great publicity for them?
I actually fucking love this game, and even I thought releasing it on the Wii was a mistake.
>Want to watch modern incarnation of cool science ninja bird team
>Crowds doesn't look too hot design-wise
>Watch Casshern Sins halfway
>had much more fun with an episode of the old series where Casshan brutally hit Braiking Boss with a lead pipe
Should I really try watching Crowds and finish Sins?
Most Gatchaman fans will tell you not to watch Crowds.
I've never even watched the original Gatchaman, so watching Crowds was a standalone experience for me. I didn't really like it. It's like they tried to turn Power Rangers into Evangelion.
No Speed Racer reps.
I liked Crowds, it was pretty good. You should at least give it a try. The villain really makes the show IMO.
you know he is right you fucking cunt
I think Tatsunoko is just going through a gritty reboot phase.
I can't wait for them to fuck with Hurricane Polymar next.
Hey.
It's free real estate.
It still hurts. For a sequel this would be hell to get characters again.
Giants and Zero made scrubs RQ the scene.
It being on the wii gave people even further incentive to drop from the scene.
MvC3 coming out gave people even further incentive to drop out of the scene.
Tighter divide between the FGC and the smash scene meant smashfags had no incentive to run the game as a side at their tournaments.
The game is 10/10 but it was doomed to fail from the start.
...
3v3(KoF) > 2v2 > 1v1 > 3v3(MvC)
1. It was a Wii Exclusive, casuals (360/ps3 players) didn't own a Wii
2. The 100 million that owned a Wii didn't buy it because it came out pretty late when all the non gamers dropped the system
3. Nobody in the west knows Tatsunoko. If it doesnt have Spider-Man or Batman, nobody gives a shit
I BOUGHT a copy.
>turn Power Rangers into Evangelion.
Filled with symbolism and deep deconstruction bullshit? Damn, that sounds pretty terrible
Is 2015 Ultraman really the only fun modernization of old franchise? Kamen Rider Spirits is pretty up there but no one seems to finish the scanlations
Does he shows up a lot? I don't think I can stomach those weird ass designs without good entertaining scenes.
Also does Sins gets better and stop brooding at one point? My interest wane when I realized the fight scenes won't get any better
The live-action doesn't look like it will have a dark tone and if I recall correctly, their next anime project is a crossover between Gatchaman, Casshern, Polymar, and Tekkaman in 3D, isn' it?
OP is talking about the game's inability to maintain a competitive scene. It exceeded Capcom's expectations in sales figures.
it's not Morande con compaƱia vs Capcom
i actually like the Wii, but releasing a fighting game on Wii when everyone played on 360/PS3 was a huge mistake.
Wii's shit attach rate didn't help
Villain first appears in episode 3 IIRC and then is basically in every episode. Been a while since I've watched it, but he's the main threat for the whole season.
Also no, Sins is basically brooding shit the whole way through, if you didn't like the start chances are you won't like the rest of it.
1. Too simple, not enuff "Muh 34 different button mashes"
2. All the cool characters are Capcom since competition faggots dunno shit about Tatsunoko
3. Competitive video game scene is a fucking joke
4. Not enough black people played it
better?
I really wanted the fightstick when it came out.
I never watched the original gatchaman so maybe that's just me, but I thought the symbolism was ok. Helps that the target of analysis was the Japanese government and not a major religion.
Tvsc is way better than any mvsc game. Marvel is fucking shit and the characters just don't look like they fit next to capcoms. Its too jarring
I guess I'll try it out anons. I hope you guys will not let me down
>was on a console that only truly smart and wise individuals used.
It's a good game, but lets be real.
The wii had the worst default controller for this type of game so you either had to go full tryhard and buy a fightstick for ONE game or suffer.
That being said, TvC is fucking legit.
I actually really loved the meta-commentary on Internet culture. The "people won't stop doing stupid shit if they're having fun" angle has not been disproved by Sup Forums yet. For all the talk about "FUN'S JUST A BUZZWORD", they do love them some ebin bait for that sweet endorphin release the (You)s give them.
/thread
>when the target audience preferred the PS3 at that time
Lmao, no they didn't you fucking faggot.
>Ono relegated that fucker's game to Wii so his game will "fail"
Is there anything more satisfying than countering people with Joe the condor?
Most satisfying thing for me is doing incredible bullshit with Tekkaman's assist.
>Play a a zoning character that's only supposed to do like 5Bil with a full screen projectile
>Lol nope you just got TEKKAMANNED into 20bil+damage
>Play Ken
>Forward throw into Tekkaman's assist
>30 bil damage meterless gg no re
The Director for the game works for SNK now.
>next
Try like 20 years ago my dude
That keep away.
>shoot at you with machine gun
> you wanna jump? I'll jump and shoot them diagonally!
>got to me in the corner? Launch you and weapon change all the way to the other side of the screen!
He and saki teamed up was boss like.
I swear I remebmer this fucker appearing in a western cartoon once.
Everyone I know who bought played the Japanese one on someone's modded wii. That's I I became aware of it.
Also I missed the extra themes
The game was fantastic. Probably the small user base of the Wii when it comes to this kind of games killed it.
Countering people with Saki's lvl3.
His show was dubbed as Bob in a Bottle in Canada, maybe that's what you're thinking of?
Not, I think I saw him appear as a cameo character in a western cartoon, probably a Hannah Barbera one.
>The system is a lot better than Marvel 3
This, holy shit. I was skeptical of the combo break feature at first, but Mega Crash and Baroque really are great fucking mechanics that add a lot of depth to the game.
It was released on the Wii because the arcade board of Tatsunoko vs Capcom was based on Wii hardware.
Now stop complaining.
What went wrong? I'd say nothing, it's a great fighting game, and despite western audiences not really knowing Tatsunoko all that much (especially considering most of it is 70s anime), Capcom USA said sales of TvC on Wii were better than they expected.
The well reception of Tatsunoko vs Capcom led to the development of Marvel vs Capcom 3 (which did become massive due to, well, MAHVEL, in the west).
