Talk/shitpost about the game I guess, also has anyone else noticed that Zelda has FOUR FUCKING EYEBROWS
Because there aren't enough BoTW threads already
WAKE UP OINK!
breakable weapons made my interest in this game drop off a cliff. having to constantly pick up and equip new weapons in a 50hr+ game just sound so fucking tiresome. you can even run out of weapons in a boss fight, how stupid is that.
Why is the combat so unrewarding and stale? I get an eerie feeling that there is no genuine way to play better or different than the Treehouse stream.
It's like I'm really back in 1998, except I'm not 16.
>50hr+
When has any LoZ ever been 50 hours? Regardless of the open world shit, the game will be 20 hours long (if that) going from dungeon to dungeon, with some time for open-ended "exploration" included.
I'm being generous there too, TP was 12 hours. SS was 14. The DS games were insulting, and ALBW took me 13 hours to beat once, beat a second time on Hero mode, and collect all the Squids.
Shit is pathetic and used to be balanced out by JRPGs, but since those have long since been dead all we can focus on are outdated franchises and fucking platformers.
Those "lower eyebrows" are the shadow on the top of her eyesockets. Look at other pictures and it's clear they aren't "real".
>"Dangerous to go alone" guy
>Link's brother in stasis
>Link from Legend of Zelda NES
Who do we think this guy is?
I'm looking at other pictures, if it is meant to be a shadow then they fucked it up bad because all I can see now is 4 eyebrows
Zelda games are generally shorter because their content is meaningfully built and, well DESIGNED. JRPGs are just random number generators appended to godawful stories.
Mr. No Character, just like the rest.
Probably the King of Hyrule or something.
You realize you have an inventory and most enemies drop weapons, right? If a weapon breaks, you pick up the weapon of the next enemy you kill or the next chest you open. You should never be dipping below double-digit weapons, you start with like 10 "weapon" spaces and 10 "bow" spaces, and they confirmed inventory is expandable.
The durability/inventory system is fucking great, it means the game can reward you with OP awesome weapons without needing the entire game to scale up in difficulty around your new weapon, because it only lasts so long. Quests can have actual rewarding weapon drops instead of "here's rupees or a bomb bag upgrade". The Fire Rod is a perfect example of a weapon that would be WAY fucking OP and insane if it lasted forever, but since it doesn't they can give you one in the early game so you have options.
It also makes the game less stale, you're forced out of the comfort zone of "use the basic sword to rush in and auto-kill all enemies", forcing you to think and use strategy a bit. "Should I use my OP Axe, or conserve it and use a pitchfork instead? Maybe I'll use bombs, those are unlimited and I'm low on weapons since I keep throwing them".
They made Zelda a girl in this game?
Wooooooooooooooooooooooow
>it's okay when nintendo does it: the post
>Regardless of the open world shit, the game will be 20 hours long (if that) going from dungeon to dungeon, with some time for open-ended "exploration" included.
Aonuma said it's expected to take 100 hours to beat the game's story, meaning 50 is a pretty normal low end estimate for real players. With 900 korok seeds, even if you find 30 an hour (or one every 2 minutes, an insane amount) that's 30 hours of gameplay for that alone. With 120 dungeons, let's say they average 10 minutes, which is 20 more hours not even counting travel time.
Because you're looking at a fucking static image. In game those "eyebrows" will move and disappear with the camera movements and lighting, it'll be obvious what's what in game.
Would you a Link?
He's Ganon. Just think about it, "Calamity Ganon" isn't a person, which means the Gerudo Ganon isn't filled with Demise's curse. The very little skin he shows looks like Gerudo color skin, and the ONLY Gerudo male should be Ganon with the whole "1 male every 100 years" shit. He's Ganon without the Demise curse, and he probably hides in the wilderness either to atone or because he knows he isn't welcome in society.
>retard bait: the post
Not a single person in the entire thread said weapon durability is bad in other games but good in Nintendo games.
Just went and watched the trailer, they are a lot less noticeable in certain light but when it shows the scene from the screenshot they're still very visible.
>Inb4 you just saw them because you were looking for them
>dude constant inventory micro management is so good!
>you have think about which weapon to use for every single enemy, so immersive!
zzzzzzzz
>what are eyelids
Are you legitimately retarded?
>TP was 12 hours
maybe, if you didn't do anything but the main quest and dungeons and fast travelled everywhere like the cock sucking faggot that you are
What makes Breath of the Wild any more meaningful than Final Fantasy XV?
or Twilight Princess to Final Fantasy XII?
Bearing in mind I'm not saying any of the aforementioned games are good or "well DESIGNED", but I'm trying to get a mindset here.
Regardless if JRPG combat is, in general, shallow or less meaningful (I guess?) than other games, LoZ is the definition of shallow, forgettable gameplay.
Not to mention Legend of Zelda's plot is either a) The same thing repeated for the nth time, b) Features characterless characters sold on their iconography and name alone; No genuine dialogue or emotion anywhere in sight or the most frequent being c) Both A and B.
So for the sake of hypothetical argument, I'll split the difference and say that JRPGs and Zelda are both trash. Now, what makes Zelda not-trash?
Aonuma's a liar earning his paycheck.
/r/ing E3 2014 webm.
I mean, yeah
it's like how FE worked before they made Iron weapons objectively better in Fates
Those are not eyelids, and if they are then why are they 2 inches above her eye?
I collected some of the bugs, but it was so boring I just said fuck it.
I'm sure it gave something very fun and rewarding, right? Sort of like the Rupee Armor, right?
What else was there to do?
Do you know how eyelids work? Do you think Gerudos also have 4 eyebrows?
He's watching over Link.
Okay, you're just fucking baiting now. Thanks for the (You)s
who /waitingforthetorrent/ here
japfag here
it's called tenjomayu
our nobles do this
>can't refute it
I'm sure you're just pretending to be retarded now.
So which set of Zelda's eyebrows are the real ones? Both move in the trailer so I don't know
Ganon is evil
>managed to get a Switch+BoTW preorder in today, ~3 weeks from launch
>it cost ~$400 total since I live in canada, but in the middle of bumfuck nowhere so they actually had a bunch of Switches in stock
Don't know how I should feel desu
Going to guess it's the one with actual hair and not just a shadow.
>the one with actual hair
Both look like just a line to me, even in the trailers when she's moving
Punished Ganon
You're blind then, her eyebrows are actually blonde and shaped like proper eyebrows while the shadows are too close to her eyes to be eyebrows and her eyes are already partly closed anyway.
Nice strawman. There's a huge difference between "you're allowed to change weapons to min/max if you want" and "you're forced to micromanage shit". You could get through the entire game with boko clubs, sticks, and brooms if you were good enough, the better items just allow for more intelligent gameplay and less auto-play.
Enemies aren't immune to certain weapons, but a smart player can do things like use the telekinetic power to pull the weapon from an enemy's hands if they have the urge to do so.
>What makes Breath of the Wild any more meaningful than Final Fantasy XV?
FFXV isn't actually interactive. You can't burn the grass for updraft or items, you can cut down trees and do multiple things with the log that you get, you can't do a fuckload of things you could do in real life. BotW has just about everything interactive.
>Aonuma's a liar earning his paycheck.
Well of course he's exaggerating and using the playtime of a slow, exploration-type player, but that's why I said 50 hours is a pretty nice estimate.
they didn't fuck up. You're just retarded
>if you were good enough
Good enough at what? Pressing Z and mashing B?
>a smart player can do things like use the telekinetic power to pull the weapon from an enemy's hands
You mean how you can take the masks off of Iron Masks? This isn't intelligent or new gameplay, and it doesn't fix how braindead the core combat is.
Can't wait to kill Ganon by volleying his light ball with 20 sticks. What fun.
Thick eyebrows on women are nasty, you people are probably spics.
How many woman have you kissed? Just wondering
More than you, spic.
>Good enough at what? Pressing Z and mashing B?
If you want to boil it down to this EVERY game is that. You clearly don't know shit, mashing the attack button won't win the game for you like this webm proves. This webm takes place in the starting area, the tutorial plateau.
>You mean how you can take the masks off of Iron Masks? This isn't intelligent or new gameplay, and it doesn't fix how braindead the core combat is.
Again, you clearly haven't seen any gameplay if you think the core combat is "braindead". We've seen hundreds of examples of retards like you rushing into combat and getting slaughtered by slightly-stronger-than-bokoblin enemies.
>FFXV isn't actually interactive
Garry's Mod is interactive. I wouldn't pay $360 for it. I don't want to play a fucking life simulator, I thought this was supposed to be a Fantasy game?
Interactivity is cool, and out of all the pre-release crap released for BotW an unofficial video of some Frenchmen (I think?) playing a demo was pretty neat. Showing them use magic and just explore around in the immediate area was neat, but then they actually found some treasure, and it was just more garbage that you could fight enemies with...
and then they found some enemies, and the combat is just so slow and boring. It doesn't matter what you're doing, throwing bombs, or throwing an axe. It just doesn't look satisfying in the least, but the entire game revolves around finding garbage to fight enemies with, and fighting enemies just looks like a drag, literally and figuratively.
I mean fuck the animations look unfinished, and I'm talking about even in official footage of finished builds. Never mind how it feels, the Attacks and Sprint animations notably look really damn rough, so much so I can't imagine looking at it for 50 odd hours.
The entire production has a distinct No Man's Sky air about it. Emphasis on Exploration, but the world isn't particularly interesting enough to be worth exploration, so the only reason you'll explore is to gather stuff to keep exploring and fight enemies, but the combat is rough and boring, so it's not satisfying, and then somewhere in there is a story that nobody cared to write.
The small ones are the linings of the eye sockets of someone's head. Raise your eyebrows and feel the bony ridge above your eyelid near your nose. That's what those are.
>the animations look unfinished
What? The animations look smooth as fuck.
Can't decide whether or not I should pirate it, what do?
Wait for reviews
>Garry's Mod is interactive.
No, Garry's Mod is a ragdoll sim. You can't cut down the trees or burn the grass for updraft, the world is "dead".
>and then they found some enemies, and the combat is just so slow and boring
Somebody needs a little patience or more skill at games. You can rush in if you're GOOD, but you need to know how to do shit. Webm related hits a few good points, the guy knows he should to get the tower guard first, and he knew he needed to release his charged swing early or he'd get slaughtered like .
>I mean fuck the animations look unfinished
Not true in the slightest, please link something showing some unfinished animations like how I link the good shit. Link jumps on horses differently from different angles instead of just teleporting to the side and hopping on, in fact he even grabs the horse's neck/shoulders and swings around it if you get on from the front. Again, look at the animations from these Webm, the attack animations are fluid as fuck.
>Slash enemy twice
>doesn't flinch from getting hit by a razor sharp blade and acts like you're doing nothing
This is the wrong way to design enemies.
That's part of the weapon system. If you want stronger enemies to flinch you use something like a hammer or spear, not a weak sword. The weak ass Bokoblin and Stalfos Bokoblin flinch from any attack, but the green dude in that webm is the buff stronger version. Do you really think the game would be better if EVERY enemy could be cheesed by hitting them before they hit you, and just stunlocking them until they die?
Of course, dodging attacks is important too.
>poops bomb out of no where
>slow mo shit
>enemies standing around doing nothing
>le I'm having so much "fun" this game is so "comfy"
>someone complains the goomba equivalent is too easy
>someone complains about the ability to drop bombs while flying, which is a really fucking cool option to have that opens many strategies
>someone complains about the Zelda version of Witch Time
kek
Any time they say "100" hours it really means you can finish the game around 30-60 hours.
The map is too big, this will ultimately ruin the game, in addition to the tiresome combat loop and survival shit they through in there.
He just coveted that wind.
...which is why I specifically said 50 hours would be a nice low end estimate. Speedrunners might get fast times, but normal players will probably need 50 hours to do all the shit the main story wants you to do.
The game supposedly has 100 shrines + dungeons. There will be a shit ton of typical Zelda shit to do.
...
Just pre ordered.
I skipped out on Skyward Sword and the recent handheld Zelda, so this will be the first Zelda game I've played in a pretty long time. Hope it lives up to the hype.
With as powerful as some of these enemies are, potions and heart containers just might finally be worth it
...
We've seen Lizalfos quite literally kill Link from 7 hearts of health a few times, the enemies are strong.
...
What are the odds that this shit leaks a week or two early?
Pretty much none. A few days, maybe, but a week or two? Nah.
>All of that shitty slow-mo
Nintendo does realize that the Matrix came out 18 years ago, right? People don't like this shit anymore.
He's the king. Also, I'm pretty sure BotW will take place in the Hero's Defeat timeline. Possibly before LTTP.
A shit ton of the same shit, this is a terrible design choice, it's this kind of padding that ruined ubisoft open world games.
You've played it?
>Event that happens 100 years ago is Link and Zelda exorcising Demise/calamity ganon from Ganondorfs body
>it backfires and actually just unleashes calamity ganon onto hyrule
>at the end you have to seal calamity ganon back into ganondorfs body to kill him
>ganondorf redeems himself through this sacrifice, but you still have to fight him once hes repossessed
>Can't decide whether or not I should pirate it
literally just pirate it and try it, and if it's bad, delete it.
Have they confirmed what the BoTW amiibo do yet?
leak when
