Why the hell am I laughing at this lol

lol

You know I'm surprised that they never use instruments after this intro again, especially when they were part of DK64.

Help

>Entire game's soundtrack stuck in my head for 23 years now

wait a second

Jolly, indeed.

GGM was designed for the first game, and those guys that pop out of the ground were meant to look like one of Bottles' mold mounds to fool you.

Y'know the space versions of those enemies? They're just rats in costume. They have no blinking animation and their mouths don't open when they make noise.

Really? Why? I can appreciate GGM now, but it's not the world's best designed level. Unless you pay close attention to the river and use that as a point of reference, it's super easy to get lost. All the textures are too similar.

Music's stuck in my head for life though.

I enjoy Tooie more than Kazooie even though they're both 10/10 games

Get a steaming mug of hot cocoa and relax with this for a while.

Ahoy!

WAUH

I fucking love these guys just becuase of how legitimately shocked they sound when you kill them.

I want to marry Banjo.

Tooie's objectively superior, but most people agree it simply isn't as FUN as the first game.

The fact that you could play through Banjo-Kazooie without putting a whole lot of critical thinking into it appealed to a lot of people. They liked the pick-up-and play style, and didn't like the legitimate adventure Tooie was, which required a ton more investment on the player's part.

The lack of a fairytale-esque feel didn't sit well with a lot of people either, although I appreciate Tooie's darker setting. Gruntilda's lack of rhyming made her more serious, which meant she felt like an actual evil villain.

So... Kazooie vs. Tooie

Which is the better game?

Kazooie

Kazooie, but just barely.

My favorite level by far I think.

I gotta really beat this, and start and finish Tooie before YL come out. But I got roped into a jrpg which if I put down I'm sure I'll never get back to it.

JINJO!

I guess this makes sense, it was kind of nice being able to complete a whole level in one go whereas Tooie had a bunch of moves necessary to get jiggies from early levels way later in the game.

I just always liked the atmosphere of the game a lot more, there's way more at stake and it's just fun seeing characters like Mumbo and Humba Wumba interact with each other.
It's a shame we'll never get a real third game to finish the adventure.

If you're a pro at the games, BK only takes a full day to beat, and Tooie about two days. Obv a normal playthrough takes a lot longer, ESPECIALLY Tooie.

The bright side is that Rare knew perfectly well their game was long as fuck, so you only need 70/90 Jiggies to beat Tooie.

>tfw zapping enemies and making them explode with Mumbo's stick in Tooie
It's the little things man

I'm not a pro. I actually played the game for the first time last year due to Rare Replay. Then summer and Witcher 3 dlc made me stop playing BK right before Grunty. And being the compulsive fuck I am I've expanded my backlog rather than beat them. Which is gonna stop now but still.

Kazooie by far

ARGH OOH AUG ARGH OOOH ARGH UGH

Kazooie was pure magic. Especially in the pre-internet days, those secrets like the fucking Ice Key were so mysterious and amazing to my child mind. I couldn't fathom what secrets could lay behind them, then Tooie came out and it was like... oh. That's it?

Just because of those unobtainable secrets, Kazooie fascinated me more than any other game as a kid.

kazooie

tooie is too big for no reason its what is wrong with gaming today except back then

>tfw can't get fucking Dragon Kazooie in the XBLA version of Tooie without a save file from Nuts and Bolts on your system

Kazooie by an unbelievable amount. Tooie was just big for the sake of being big

Nice to see this, spot on. The usual revisionist history on Tooie here is that IT SUCKED. That stretch between Terrydactyland and Hailfire Peaks is bliss.

>Brown back-pack instead of blue
I'm so fucking triggered right now, jfc.

Tooie. I really dug the interconnectedness of levels and the need to do things in one level to affect a jiggy in another.

Tooie. It has the best levels in any platformer in both art design and actual level design. It expanded on what made Kazooie great and it felt like far more of a grand adventure than Kazooie. It upsets me how so many people put Tooie down and talk about how Kazooie is better. It's nostalgia, I tell ya.

>not still having your n64 with Kazooie and tooie from your childhood

Shiggy diggy

But I do user
My old games at least, my old N64 went missing after a bad flood in our basement almost a decade ago.

A lot of people prefer the simplicity of Kazooie.

...

dundundundundundundun

This motherfucker made me too scared to try and get everything in Treasure Trove Cove when I was a kid.

...

so are you guys gonna post kazooie porn or what

...

gay frog

Doing 4-person multiplayer with that was so much fun, I'm still a bit upset that Rare didn't add online servers for the minigames in the XBLA version.

...

but i played tooie first then sought out kazooie because i liked tooie
i still think kazooie is thebetter game

Post favorite songs.

>grunty approaching mumbo with the mistletoe

whoa

...

The question is which game Yokaa-Laylee is going for.

Looks like BK. I don't think there will be inter-connected levels in YL.

Both great games.

But why did banjo have a older voice in tooie?
Well actually why did they give him an older voice then reuse banjo kazooie voice clips?

Fucking annoying

best level

It's two years later, and he's gone through puberty.

I'm not even kidding.

lol

DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN

I van perfectly imitate this guy's voice by burping, swallowing my burp down and releasing it again, over and over till im done talking.

*blocks your path*

Ok but they literally re use banjo kazooie voice clips.

Like its out of place the voice sounds different.

...

...

WHAT WERE THE EXTRA DABLOONS FOR?
FUCK YOU RARE, YOUR MYSTERIOUS CUT BULLSHIT CAPTURED MY CHILDHOOD IMAGINATION

Seeing Bottles' family in Tooie and all of them asking where their dead dad went always hits me

>getting dragon Kazooie for the first time
>getting tyrannosaurus Banjo for the first time

Almost jizzed.

Buying Jolly's services.

...

I was stuck here as a kid for fucking years because I never got you were supposed to freeze him and just tried swimming throughended up using cheat codes to get through...

...

How were we supposed to get the jukebox to work legitimately, though? Can't explain that.
Why are there missing entries in the Tooie code numbers?
My child's ghost will never be put to rest.
I'll flip shit if there's S&S in Yooka, even if it's a minor acknowlegement

Anybody else own the old Banjo Tooie guide book? It's actually really cool with it's top-down pictures of all the maps. I loved reading it when I was younger.

witchy world is p underrated

Me too user, except I bought a guide book. Had me stumped for a month, was about the only thing I could think about in school

>tfw eating those cavemen as T-Rex Banjo
I love that this game pandered to the two things I loved as a kid: trains and dinosaurs

Lava side or ice side?

I've been really tempted to buy a new one, my old one is literally in pieces because of how much I used to read it in car rides and other shit.

Getting the train is dope as fuck.

You think we'll ever get PS1/N64 styled graphics after the "retro" one is over?

worst stage, had to be made because of a camel, and it sucks on a pure atheistic level.

Ice. Lava side looked cool but there was nothing to do.

The bad guy in this sounded like Elmer Fudd. I distinctly remember his fucking retarded laugh.

Obviously the answer is ice side.

...

I always liked that Old King Coal helps you out after beating him in his boss fight, those little cutscenes with Chuffy chugging through the different levels were so amazing to me as a kid.

This is what I've been hoping for, the PS1/N64 graphics style is just comfy as fuck.

Fuck man I really want to fire these games up on my 360 but for some reason it's been acting weird (screen keeps turning into glitchy colors any time I get a game going or have the menu on for a few minutes).

...

The music of that boss was really good but one of the things that I hated the most about Tooie is that you fight EVERY SINGLE GODDANM BOSS IN THE EXACT SAME FUCKING WAY
>shoot ice eggs!
>shoot fire eggs!
>shoot shoot shoot!!
Jesus fucking Christ what were they thinking? the whole shotting mechanic was so fucking bad and overused... that alone ruined the entire game for me.
